Making a ton of bottle openers on my Onefinity Journeyman X-50 CNC machine. Even though its a hobby CNC router, this machine can batch out product (if you don't mess things up...) Overall it was a pretty easy cnc project! Woodworking on a cnc router is great!

I know its late but I used a lot of oxalic acid to clean carbon on Lichtenberg wood burnings, You did fine, just need to rinse it after you use it, probably a bucket for the acid and then 2 buckets of clear water. Its really not going to do much on ash anyway since ash has very little tannins in it. Love your channel!

I wonder if you put the magnets at the "top and bottom" of the opener insert, rather than the "left and right" if the magnet would catch the bottle cap after opening so you wouldn't have to catch or chase the cap after opening it.

From what I got from the video only the magnet holes and the bottle opener holes were to small but the outside cut was good. If that's the case you can adjust them in your design software and reload the g-code. You won't need to zero the machine as long as you don't shut it down or change the bit. Another thing if the outside cut is good just remove that in your design software. I have done this before on my journeyman and it worked out great. That will save you time. I hope this helps.

Not sure if anybody else has commented. With oxalic acid you have to rinse them off with water afterwards. You rinse off all the crystals. I don’t know if the color is what you want it but you can’t leave that on there. I know you know that but generally oxalic acid let it dry then rinse it off with water. Let them dry then finish.

To get the effect you want on ash, you have to use 2 part wood bleach. Both dangerous and toxic.
You can achieve a similar effect with white stain and finished with a water-based urethane

Great stuff here. But man, why wouldn't you pause the run after each new operation and check your pockets with some gage pins and the bottle opener plate. Just because it's CNC doesn't mean you can forget about the measure three times / cut once rule. Also, I would have attempted to chase the work with the corrected path and a compression bit... but that's just me being a cheap bastard! Anyway, I'm glad I found this channel and you now have a new subscriber.

This would have been the perfect project for a 2-sided operation so you could put a chamfer or round-over on the edges using the CNC router - would have had minimal manual finish work after 🍺🐰👍

Why didn’t you just enlarge the pocket when it was too small?
