I agree; Geoff's arrangements are amazing, but I think their real strength is when they sing together...their harmonies are out of this world.

Also, Castelucci, the bass singer, arranges for Home Free e.g. he arranged Alabama's Elvira'.. Amazing job. Castelucci also has various youtude videos about how to sing bass, well explained, well worth watching. Blessings for your comments. thank you

Didn't he also do Home Free's "How Great Thou Art"? I know it was one of the Voice Play guys who did the arrangement for that song and it is straight church beauty

I enjoy your reactions as you give good simple explanations to those who aren't musically inclined. I love acapella groups as I'm as sucker for harmonies like this.

Love this reaction. I have to agree on the first part. It feels as though the first verse is a rough draft that was never refined and edited. I haven't heard anyone say this yet, but the tempo of Geoff's first solo part wasn't consistent. It felt like it was getting away from him at one point. Also while I absolutely love his crazy low notes, I do NOT like where he changed the melody just to drop a low note. It doesn't fit. All that said, once they got into the second verse, it felt so much more polished and the end was incredible. The chords and chord progressions were so complex and beautiful. (actually, I'm editing to say it was incredible well before they got to the end. I really do love their version, just wish the first verse could get a rework).

I totally agree with you, first part was very hard to get into but once we started hearing Earl more at the middle of the song, he brought so much to the song, same for J. None they were the highlight for me on this one. That part at 5:03 is killing me. Way too beautiful that we can forgive the ''sloppy'' beginning.

If I may suggest an arrangement with no video: Pentatonix does an absolutely amazing arrangement of "Over The Rainbow" featuring interplay between Avi and Kirstin. It has to be one of the most beautiful vocal arrangements I've ever heard.

I agree with your comments. When I first watched this video my initial thought was “this is terrible”. Geoff is a very talented bass singer but his voice was not the right one for the initial solo...it’s not smooth enough and I thought the lowest notes sounded out of place. The solo should have been done by their baritone J. None. His voice is like velvet.
However, like you observed, once the others joined in and Eli started singing the melody it became almost magical...a beautiful masterful arrangement. It was like a completely different song, not only different from the first part of their video, but from the original version itself. Thanks for the reaction.

Not just Elvis...I'm having trouble keeping the Pentatonix version out of my head. I kept expecting it to go one way and feeling like something is off when it doesn't. Truly, I didn't care for the opening bass solo. He has a magnificent voice and he does whatever he darn well pleases with it--he's that good!--so it's just a matter of personal taste. I don't care for scooping down below the note; if you want to sing a low note, include that note in the arrangement! But I repeat: that's my own taste. Then end of the song, though, is bliss. So beautiful! I'm gradually getting to know this group and becoming a fan, especially of the bald tenor (I think his name is Eli).

It was ok I wasn't over keen on the deep voice thought it was really slow it got better as the song carried on his voice at the end gave it that the extra bit which made it so much better they did it justice eventually

I agree with you... when I first heard this, the 1st verse completely underwhelmed me, but as they progressed to the second verse, it picked up steam and I truly enjoyed the arrangement.
I'm still in love with Tim Foust's version, in which he plays the piano for his own accompaniment: th-cam.com/video/qyNgohTZWTA/w-d-xo.html

Now you need to react to Tim Fousts version of this that he released when he was a solo artist! No comparison for me....it's Tim's all the way! But if course Elvis' will always be the greatest of all time!

I felt like Geoff wasn’t quite in tune in the beginning, like he was having hitting the individual notes - maybe a little flat.
When everyone else came in, it picked up immensely.

This was pleasant in the beginning but didn't really catch fire until "Take my hand." It seemed like Geoff was a little timid with it and didn't have that forward motion that you need in an acappella ballad. Not tempo, but kind of an anticipation of the next note and phrase. But when it picked up, it was gorgeous. I think you would enjoy their "Queen in 5 minutes" video, which was done after the tenor, Earl, had a health scare.

They are clearly super talented. But I almost didn't listen to the whole thing...start was rough. Nice save by picking up the back half. I am a diehard Elvis fan so never going to think this tops him, but the back half was beautiful & inspires me to delve into their music.

This is a good cover, but I feel like it may be derivative of Pentatonix's cover. I understand that there's only so many ways you can do a song without basically re-writing it completely, but this isn't different enough to stand out. Their skills and talents are undeniable, but this isn't it.

Sorry man, this rendition left me uninspired. The bass was too monotone, and the layering left it flat all the way through. I am a big fan of ac capella, but this did not impress me. Loved your reaction.
