True. The quiet genius in the corner. Despite his fame I think he is massively underrated as a CRAFTER of bass lines. This has it all, timing, syncopation, melody and bang in the pocket. Great Cover btw.
Amazing! When the bass line is brought forward, in my opinion, it’s a work of art. I have always been fascinated by the bass...so, I ask myself, why did I not learn to play? Is there still time...I,m 64! I have also listened to the bass line to Millionaire,s Waltz. Well worth checking out .
This is one of my very favourite Queen songs so I have to learn it. It’s been quite challenging but fun. Thank you for the accurate tabs Lefty Bassman.
Good job! But it's not 100% accurate note-wise, just almost. Based on the isolated bass track, 1:16 it's supposed to be a chromatic run -3-4-5- on the G-string and 1:19 -4-3-4-3- on the D-string (so not walking down to Eb).
That Ab Major decent actually is correct at 1:16. It's the most iconic bass part of the song, in my option at least. He nailed it. This cover is essentially 100% accurate with a touch of personal flourish!
@@brady1201 I am hearing exactly what I described when slowing down the speed of both the isolated bass track and the full song. I don't know what to tell you, but in the end this is just semantics.
@@kennet7837 Maybe we are just confused on different parts. I have perfect pitch as well so I know notes I hear. In regards to the scale I described, the Ab Major decent IS a descending Ab Major scale Up until the Note C. Then it goes down a Major 3rd, Skipping the major 2nd of the scale which would be Bb, back to the root, the bottom Ab. it would be: (D String), 6,4,3 (A String), 6,4,3, and then 4 on the E. play this on your bass if you're skeptical. It's just a simple descending major scale. That fret pattern is the fret pattern to play any major scale on any string instrument tuned to perfect fourths. again maybe we are talking about different parts, I don't know man.
I have been following ya for several months now, from France, and I still am impressed by the perfect way you nplay John Deacon (that I love). I do not know if it is possible to ask you to play one bass line in particular : so I do it... I am fan of a bassist named Roger Innis and his work on "Got no place to go" for Laurence Jones (englis rock blues player). I would be delighted if one day you will do a cover of this song. Thnaks again for your videos, always great.
... and that's why I remained a fan of John and Fred. They worked so very well together. Please let me put something here: I know about the contribution of BM & RT and I appreciate it. But over the last years I lost my interest in them, especially, when I grew as a musician myself. it turned out that they were mostly posers. I mean May was a creative guitarist. He came up with some of the finest melodies in Rock, besides Dave Gilmour. Taylor was a mid-class drummer with an exorbitant good voice. But Queen died with Fred and the loyal JD knew that from the beginning. Every song of the three band members went through Freds feather before they were recorded, as he was Queen's arranger because of his musicianship. The Cosmos rocks is an awkward album! Where all the good songs? Why don't they come up with new stuff? Because there is no Fred to put their song ideas into shape! At the tribute concert one must look at the gestures Taylor and May make towards John, when he says: but first of all "The Show Must Go On". Everyone got that wrong! He said that towards May and Taylor because they already decided to go on without Fred. But that wasn't John Deacon's idea of a good time. John Deacon ... what a LEGEND! I listen to Queen since the mid 70's. I think I can say, I am an old school fan.

i sat down with my bass and this video, and concluded that i could, in fact, never learn this 😂 very nice cover, i love the colourful strings! also the instrument is beautiful, i wish i had a better bass too 😂😂😂

In someof their concerts that looks like John h banging on his guitar sometimes is he really playing or is he just banging on the strings ? Is that how they played really fast
For the video in Montreal he was actually slapping the string to play the G#, and for the video in Hammersmith I’m pretty sure he’s just banging the bass
there is somethings wrong about this cover, tab, bpm.... i wrote this tabs to guitar pro 7 without no error with bpm 110...original song got slower i mean tabs are a little bit faster. but in your playing there is no pbm issue. i couldnt figure it out..is it song version or tab? if song is definetly 110 pbm it means these tabs are not right, on the other hand there is nothing wrong about your timing in this video... im really confused.
Man, Deacon basslines never cease to surprise me. Well done, sir
Thank you!

Really feels like the bass controls the ebb and flow of this song. Never noticed that before.
Currently favourite Deacon's bassline. *Currently*.
