If you would like to hear our latest track, the link is below. It is a Bakugo Rap Called "Bust Down". Thank you for watching! th-cam.com/video/cwYw09o8zIA/w-d-xo.html
the big shot thing is said a lot by the character and is also a reference to those spam adds that promise you'll get good at something or get rich quik. but instead you "become a big shot"
The “Big Shot” thing throughout the song is a reference to Spamton as a character, specifically. It’s a buzz word he likes to throw around that he uses to try to rope the player into helping him, promising to make them a “Big Shot.” But ultimately, it’s just something Spamton wants for himself, the power to make people pay attention to him again after his thriving business crashed and burned. Also, even we don’t know who “Mike” is. Although from what we do know, they appear to be an old friend of Spamton’s, that got screwed over by a character that is likely to appear in Chapter 3. However, we know more about who Mike could be than we did at the time this song was made, so some stuff might not line up.
@@Ag3nt-MC Ad Infinitum is more akin to meth. Take the visuals and sheer pressure the entire presentation exudes. Imagine actually standing before Spamton, rapping you into submission.
I remember when this song came out, a few reactors that had never reacted to Stupes had this as their first exposure...and at least one of them hasn't reacted since. XD I'm glad you've stuck with their stuff!
The thing is, it's also the sort of song that's bad for reactions, because you HAVE TO listen to it straight in order to get the proper effect. If you pause even once, you're basically shitting your pants.
@@Sergonizer The conclusions I drew were way more interesting to me than what I found out once I looked into the game to understand what the lyrics actually meant.
This has to be my favorite song because there are so many references to a musical I just did recently called The Music Man, the songs referenced are Ya Got Trouble and Rock Island also, you can hear a few strings of 76 Trombones at the start. The line "the very model of a modern major general store" is a reference to a song in another musical.
If this song was by anyone but stups I would confidently say it was more than likely their magnum opus. But stups releases a magnum opus every third video
Glad to see you come back to this one, was missing the old reaction the other day. Edit: Just some answers to your questions about the song's lyrics as they are relating to your game: becoming a 'Big Shot!' is the promise spamton uses in to lure in potential victims. Mike is his old, mysterious contact who helped him gain his fame (and eventually stopped talking to spamton, which is why spamton is desperate to find him again and regain his old success.) Spamton is a puppet to an unknown person, possibly mike hiding somewhere, and often can't control his own actions, which is what the green strings hooked to him in those scenes represent. The times he stops the song and just talks are often lines ripped straight from the game (such as: 'Soon I'll even surpass that [clown around town]'} And if you were wondering, the weird magenta and yellow armor that appears on him at the very end is his final boss form, if you let him trick you and give him his new body in the game.
I thought I remember you doing a reaction to this, but then I figured I must have imagined it since I couldn't find it. Pretty sure your reaction to this song was how I found your channel.
I deleted a bunch of my first reactions in this channel about a year ago, which was a massive mistake. This was one of the songs I knew I had to come back to later. Thanks for the support and no you weren’t imagining things haha
It really is amazing. It's like the rap version of a panic attack. I don't really _enjoy_ listening to this track like I do the rest of Stupes' stuff, but I definitely respect the sheer level of talent that it took to make. The entire "Gotta have it" portion that discusses the nature of trends/fads at _lightning speed_ is just insane. It sounds like nonsense half the time, but there's an honest message throughout. Really impressive stuff. It's just also stress-inducing to listen to xD
I think the Spamton constantly saying stuff like "Don't you want to be a big shot" is like a common tactic in marketing that try to persuade you to buy their product because all the cool kids are doing it. Like, if you buy this paper clip you'll be the envy of all you friends.
The history behind "Big Shot" is similar to "Top Dog," "Best of the Best," anything along those lines. Language wise. Edit: Usually in an office/manager setting.
in the game, Spamton talks a lot about someone we never see named "Mike" on the phone, and though spamton talks of telemarketing, the way he describes this Mike character is like some kind of celestial being or angel, and it really seems like this "Mike" is possibly a reference to the angel Michael, or a malicious character impersonating them. This theory is somewhat supported by there being other biblical references such as one of your allies casually being named after Azrael the angel of death.
as i said the first time around, ad infinitum is kinda like a brick to the face as an intro. so, most of the "random" things are references to the source material, deltarune chapter 2. specifically, spamton repeatedly says "[Big Shot]" to mean "making it in the world", he's obsessed with reclaiming his position as the number 1 salesman, since he represents spam mail and junk ads which stopped working on people 20 years ago. since spamton is also a corrupted program, he tends to glitch out a lot and offer you things he can't give you, which in his text is replaced with "[Hyperlink Blocked]", which he claims you definitely want. that intro speech by stups's spamton? the part before the music picks up? that's ripped straight from spamton's introduction speech to you, the only missing part is where he repeatedly says "hey everybody, i'm spamton g. spamton!" in a bunch of fragmented ways. you can read that to get a taste for how spamton talks and operates. as for who mike is, we'd like to know that too!
the part I think, visually, at least, that I enjoy the most is the Shize cola they are drinking when they say "I can feel that smooth taste already." If you didn't know, they have an original song they wrote called "Vending Machine of Love." They wrote it as the title theme for their friends dating game where you take photos of soda cans called Only Cans... and they wrote it in one night... Like... If you haven't looked at it, that one really, really cements their wordplay skills for me. Anyway, in the game, the company that hired you was the Shize soda company.
Yes, I deleted it along with a BUNCH of my early reactions, which was a massive mistake. I waited a little over a year so I could re-react to it and have the song on the channel.
I love watching people reacting to deltarune content when they’ve never played or really heard of the game, it’s so fun to see you try to understand the in-game references lmao
I was wondering where the original video had gone. It's fun seeing this new take on it! I remember you making some really insightful points before, which come up here as well, but in a refreshing way. Specifically the mention of running ads and self-promotion, which you don't hesr other artists talk about much. I think that reaction was how I first found your channel, and your music through it. Quite a few of the reactors I like turn out to be strong musicians, which is very fun.
I really like Stupendium songs because they have nice small touches. For example, Ad Infinitum means forever, or neverending, so the title is like neverending ads. In addition, I'm pretty sure the line "you gotta know the territory" is a reference to The Music Man
As someone who's attempted to do this on-stage, the "have-have not" section is THE hardest part, the eee and the ay verse has NOTHING on The Dr. Seuss Verse. I actually had to edit all the computer voices BACK INTO the bg music to manage it becuase there was no way I was surviving if I hadnt. I wanted to do the whole thing (I have The Voices memorized too), but I realized there just wasnt enough spaces for me to breathe. Two years after this video came put I performed it onstage at my high school's talent show in full force, and after the song had ended, everyone was quiet and I was like "if you feel dizzy, that means it worked!" They loved it 😂
If you know about the secret spamton boss fight in deltarune, once u do the stuff later on he brags about how he is now a "BIG SHOT" and attacks you at his "BIG SHOT" Form Also mike controls spamton, and whenever a hyperlink blocked thing happens, spamton's basically trying to stop him, or im assuming based on what i saw when i played the game
I'm not sure if anyone answered your question of who is Mike or not but Mike is someone Spamton G Spamton made a deal with and was abandoned by and thus Spamton G Spamton failed as a business man when he stopped getting customers and became corrupted this also why he is obsessed with becoming a big shot as he calls a because he wants to make it big in the world but without help is always destined to fail
