Originally 5/7 of the members were in a group called 'Minx' consist of members(Jiu, Sua, Siyeon, Yoohyeon & Dami). At the point of time, their concept/music were much mainstream and the fact that they were from a small company with no revenue/connection = no promotion for minx, on top of the over-saturated kpop industry, it was very hard for them and unfortunately they did not do well :( Happy face entertainment(their agency) then decided to re-debut them into dreamcatcher with 2 additional members (Handong & Gahyeon) with the concept of nightmare/horror and rock genre sound in order to make them stand out/be unique from the other gg. They were pretty much the first gg to do this concept/music. Honestly speaking, they have really grown alot, achieving lots of things that minx couldn't and we fans are so proud of them. From selling barely 1k albums up till now (25k+, 35+, 42k++ or more albums) It's been a tough road, a very tough one, especially the risk of puttting their career on the line, doing a concept/genre no other gg has ever done before in the kpop industry, not knowing if this will work out..the girls are so talented and down to earth too, the more you dig deeper into dreamcatcher, the more charms/sides you will find more about them. It's still a shame SO many ppl still doesn't know who dreamcatcher are :( Btw, dreamcatcher's fandom name is: InSomnia. Which mean(In dream) in latin. korea has more than kpop like any country does, kpop is just so widely known and blown out internationally that other people think kpop is the only form of music in korea, also dreamcatcher still sorta falls into the kpop groups section.
