It has been a true revelation finding out that my oily skin needs a moisturizer. Since using a moisturizer for oily skin my skin is actually less oily and I don’t break out as often. It’s taken years for me to learn this.
Had gone through same... in my teens I never thought I needed a moisturizer, I would clean my face 2 times a day with a daily scrub (still regret it) and put nothing else and then wondering why is my skin excessively oily and my skin is red...
For lips, If you feel like lipstick doesn't suit your lip form, it's most likely because you have an inner and outer lip line on your bottom lip. If this is the case, take foundation (or concealer, if you use one that is the same color as your skin) and "erase" the outer line. Now put on lip liner on the inner line and see how good lipstick will look on you!😍 I saw this online somewhere, and it really changed my lipstick game🤩 Thank you for doing these videos! Please do more of them, maybe asking followers of things they find difficult with makeup, and you can show how you would help / fix or make it easier🥰 Also instead of mistakes, you could also do like "tips to get the look you want" Like if you your eyes to look bigger, you can put white in the inner corner. and other things like that. (more how to do different tricks to get the look you want)
Hi Soph! Big fan! Not sure if you've already done a video like this, but a full face of hypoallergenic makeup would be cool. For people with extra sensitive skin and/or allergic to mainstream products, etc.
I tried this for the first time today since I got a sample of it, and I will be RUNNING to Sephora to pick up more! It feels so nice & my skin feels so refreshed after!
So what I’m taking from this video is that I need a powder foundation 😅 such helpful tips though, the amount of times I mess up my makeup and feel like a need to start again, thank youuu
You would really suit going darker soph! To the brunette side!! When you put your hair back I couldn't believe how different you looked without the blonde. Great video🤩🤩
I’ve used that spray for a few months and I’ve repurchased it. It’s fab! I find a lot are too hydrating or some even drying- that one seems perfectly balanced. I’d love a video on using old favourites and seeing what you think of them now ❤
I've been using a lot of skin care to the point that the majority of makeup will break up after putting it on. Any make up that you recommend for someone who always does really good care?
I've never thought before about the spoolie to remove mascara from your eyelid, thank you for the tip, I'll use it next time while doing my make up if the mistake will happen ✨️🌟
For chemical exfoliant, I love the Some By Mi AHA BHA PHA 30 days miracle toner. It’s on Amazon and YesStyle and other Korean retailers. I recently finished one from Peach Slices but I think it was only AHA and BHA plus other ingredients, and it wasn’t nearly as good as the Some By Mi. But I haven’t been able to get another one, so I’m using one from the biobotanical toner from the Créme Shop which is my favorite non-chemical exfoliating toner
Btw my makeup girlies use under eye brightener by Catrice it helps with the concealer and fine lines and you can also wear it alone there's 2 shades and 6$ on Amazon.
If you use a matte setting spray and end up with white spots all over your face the clean spoolie trick works for that too. But make sure you do a spray on a tissue or something first to get anything that had settled in the spray from the last use to try and prevent it
Just home from work so watching this before bed, good way to relax before another 6am wake call 😅 Omg my concealer always settles into my lines even after setting even tho I blend them out before so thank you for the tip, I will need to try it!! love ya, Soph ❤❤
A lot of great tips. Unfortunately, it seems no one does how to videos anymore and yet there are new people using makeup everyday that could benefit from them!
For big events I follow the Nikita Joy trick to stop watering eyes she does a warm face cloth on the eyes and you gently rub the oils of the eye and really does the trick for me! I’m not describing it fully her video obviously gives you more details
Good video as always! I also squeeze my sponge w a towel a couple of times as I feel I get better coverage when my sponge is damp but definitely not wet. If I do my eyebrows too harshly I usually just use the sponge (smaller one that I use around the eyes w concealer and powder - yes I use the same for both) to dab over them to soak up some product and/or make them look softer through the residue concealer/powder on the sponge. About eyeliner and/or mascara mistakes I usually use a qutip (not sure about spelling as English isn't my first language) with the same shade of product I already have on/around the eyes (eyeshadow etc) and clean it up. This way however works better if the mascara/eyeliner isn't dry, but if it's dry it works too but might need a bit more work.
Make sure that with the mascara tip, you have a clean spoolie otherwise it will smudge like hers. Also with the crying eye one you can spray your face, let it dry but not completely and add concealer to the areas needed
9:06 an alternative to using powder foundation would be to use a cushion foundation so you don’t get that cakey powdery look. I love the tirtir minis cuz they’re slim enough to fit into your purse, have medium coverage which is perfect for touch ups, and there’s a matte version (the pink compact) which means you don’t have to touch up on powder as well. Learnt this from Tina Harris on yt and I love the results :)
Very stupid question. I have tried setting powder for the first time recently and it looks amazing, the only issue is the one i bought was the revolution bannna light, the lid is tiny and my puff can barely pick up any product when i put it in. Any recommendations for another thing to put it in or am i using the product wrong?
DUPE FOR FACE EXFOLIATER: The Body Shop Vitamin C Peel - it is so gentle, so effective and very affordable. You just need 1-2 pumps and I would advise using it in the shower because once you have applied it to your face, your dead skin will literally ball up and it’s easier to get off in the shower using a flannel. Skin is smooth and glowing after✨
For the mascara trick just make sure if you use the spoolie from your eyebrow pencil it's clean because ive done that before then ended up with a bigger brown smudge from the spoolie 😂
Even though I already know all of these tips I enjoyed the video. If it’s a Soph video - I’m watching it! One thing that I’ve been noticing lately when watching makeup videos here on YT is - dirty brushes and sponges. Creators using dirty foundation and concealer brushes 🤮. People clean your tools! Not only can it mess with the application, but all of these nasty old makeup and germs🦠is now on your face. Clean your tools!! Thanks Soph for sharing your tips and for always making me feel a bit better! 💕
I have watery eyes but it generally happens when I mess with them too much. Guess it's a good thing I'm into more natural looks for myself lol. But the spoolie trick to get mascara off your eye lid does not work for me. It's too hard and scratches my eye lid which makes my eyes water more. A dry q tip also works if anyone has the same problem!
i use glycolic acid for my dry skin sitting on top of my nice healthy skin but it doesnt help much i also use an asian scrubber once in a week in the shower. i also use the nivea creme for extra hydration in the night but i still feel the gritty texture of the dead skin. idk what to do
What about a face mask once a week after the exfoliation.... and the 'slugging' idea (where you put on serum, a moisturiser and then cover with Vaseline overnight, so it all soaks inwards and not drying off.)... worth a try, I've read some good comments on it. I have been using Olay Retinol 24 at night (in the purple jar) and the moisturiser (in red jar) for day... I went from oily skin to dry skin from the menopause changes....and I had to find new products and I also exfoliate once a week and then use one of those sheet masks, rub my hands and feet with moisturiser cream, lay on the bed and sip a cup of Tea... its my 45 minutes to ME!!😊❤ xx
Lately my makeup is separating like crazy... doesn't matter how I apply it and the base underneath it... I am using one of my fave foundation which never did that before and is freshly new..
Soph we need a “following my old makeup tuturial video - how I used to do my makeup” . It will be a fun video ! 💓
I recommended this in her last video’s comments!☺️
I will do this at some point!! ☺️

i wonder if you always keep on the makeup after you filmed. especially the full glam "crazier" ones? love your videos soph 💗
I’ve been doing my own makeup longer than you’ve been alive 😅 I’m still learning all the time! 😂❤
I use a Qtip to take off mascara marks on my face, its not scratchy like the spoolie is
I’ve used that spray for a few months and I’ve repurchased it. It’s fab! I find a lot are too hydrating or some even drying- that one seems perfectly balanced.

You're so good!
I recognized myself with several of these small mistakes.
Thanks for an educational video❤
This video is amazing for people starting out, I wish this was around when I started out. I had to learn the hard way 😂 thank you Soph xx

If you already set with powder, just spray your face and get it damp and then you can either pat it out or put concealer and blend it out
Such an amazing video - thank you! How to save an eyeshadow mishapp would be fab! X
