Too many motion designers are advertising their work specifically to other motion designers. While it's great to connect and engage with the community this is not a reliable form of bringing in work although that's not to say it can't work. People should still attend these events, but your goals should be different. For in-industry events, just go have FUN, FUCK the networking and business bullshit. Enjoy time hanging out with cool people. Now, when it comes to out of industry conferences, this is where you need to start getting clever. If you can show up to these events and find a way to show attendees you're able to help solve some of their problems, well now you're in business.
