I think Billy Talent is decently known, partially in North America but Europe mostly. Plus everyone these days are a vanity case where looks comes first and talent is second. Although great bands and artists are remembered whereas forgettable popstars/rappers remain forgotten as one hit wonders.

I believe it to be about the lack of support available to hard criminals which results in them re-offending and returning to prison. 'The dirt keeps pulling me down.' That's my take on it.
