Every skydiver is starting their formation by using an analog altimeter. The visibility of those altimeter makes them the best choice for students. But at some point, you may want to consider switching to a digital one and the reasons are explained in this video!

I actually use three nowdays. I have an Optima2 (audible) inside my helmet, Viso2 on my hand and old sturdy what-was-the-brand-again analog altimeter on my rigs mudflap.
Never too much altitude awareness. ;)

I use an analog altimeter for the simple reason that I can read it without my glasses.

Awesome video! I jump with an Alti-2 Atlas and also an analogue Galaxy normally but have just swapped out my analogue for an L&B Altitrack to go along with my Atlas!! I also have 2 audibles too!! I am always paranoid that one or more is gonna fail on me so am quite happy having something on each limb really!!😂🤣Blue skies!🤘🏻🤙🏻

Once again, another great vid, 🐈! Sometimes I wear my digital viso 2 on my left and my analog on my right with a ditter in my helmet. One can never be too altitude aware!

Digital is so expensive here in South Africa. Another reason, delivery from US and other places is also not reliable in SA. When items arrived here, it may misplace.
For these reasons, I am waiting if any friend of mine can bring these accessories for me. :)
I jump the same alti as you. I like the elastic armband because once the canopy is open i can move it to a part of my forearm that I can read while hands are all the way up.
It's quite a coincidence that I purchased a Viso 2 plus and it arrived just an hour or so before you posted your new video. I'm taking my first AFF jump this week and my eyes aren't the best so much so that when I tried the analog altimeter on my wrist I couldn't make out the 100ft increments. Will there be a problem for me to make my first jumps with the Viso? Will the instructors allow it?

This will have to be discussed with your instructor. It depends but most of the time they prefer to use an analog at first. Another reason that I missed was that if you travel an/or forget your altimeter, you will have more chance to rent an analog at the dropzone so by starting with it you'll know how to use it. ;)

I'm a paramotorist paraglider pilot gave up jumping years ago tired of bumming rides up to 14K feet soI just run into the sky and fly up to 14K and hang out..but I'm having a hard time finding a nice wrist mounted GPS/Altimeter/ Vario ..looks like the Aon2 X2 could do the trick .
Indeed and they will also have a mode for other sports like this one. I am about to do a video with their specs so stay tuned. ;)

@@FDbroadcasting No I gave up looking, So I use a cheap phone app, and its not any good I find they are either too complicated with too many bells and whistles or are very inaccurate. So I just fly
I have three, Digital, Analog/Digital and Audible. The reason I got the Digital is I find it better than Analog for landings. Also the AltiTrak II eats batteries and uses the half AA battery that can be difficult to find. I tend to jump with all three unless I am wearing a GoPro wrist mount then I just use the Digital. The reason why: because I can :-)
You didn't broach the subject on low-light or no light situations sky diving. Are there a specialized Altimeters for those sky dives or is there an altimeter that does it all... ?

Altímetro digital = un buen libro de saltos. Análogos = buenos altímetros.
Compra el análogo y el digital usado cuando se retire alguien.
Los mejores son los audibles, a ellos no les importa si los miras o no y te avisan varias veces.
Viso II = U$S 300
Audible Solo II: U$S 180 + Galaxy III U$S 160 = U$S 340
Ojala nunca tengan que usar el audible. Pero esa vez sola te ahorra la re-conexio del ciprés y el plegado de la reserva.
Y si el dinero no es problema mas razón para que te compres un audible.
Y recuerde: El mundo tiene dos mitades en una están los inteligentes y los boludos que no saben que van en la otra.

Why did you choose the Viso over lets say an Alti-2 digital?
At the time, I was interested in the N3 but the price point is different. And in the used market, I didn't manage to find one. Now, Alti-2 has the Atlas. I might review it soon. ;)
Does the Viso have audible option for under canopy?
Thank you for your reply. TBH I wasn't aware of all the options, the Viso 2 had good reviews and a lot of users. My first jump has been cancelled several times due to weather. After ground training I was all suited up and noticed to my horror that the analog Altimeter was hard to make out. I really wanted to be sure of my altitudes from 1000ft and below and am pleased to say they viso is very easy to read. 8)
Reinier Verbunt I dont think so. You would have to check the other L&B audible altimeter products. I am planning to do a video comparing them. Would you be interested?
