During the 1983 Worrell 1000 on Hobie16s, we got caught in a storm on our way to Hatteras, NC that had 60 mph wind and 20 foot seas. Pitchpoled and shredded the jib but finally made it to Hatteras about 11:00 that night under reefed main only. Quite the memorable experience but I would not have chosen to go out in that much wind like you guys did.
This is so epic! Massive tip of the hat to the balls on display here. Great choice of rig too. Even if the jib hadn't ripped, probably saved a fair few capsizes not having it. It makes what i'm doing here look a bit tame! I'm keen to come down to Sandy Point to have a pop.
