  • What do you guys think of these old cars being lovingly maintained and stored for years in people's collections, garages, backyards and storage warehouses? How many more are there? Or will common cars of today become the future's treasured classics?

    What a wonderful find! Recently found a Transit Mk1 bus, twin wheeler from -68 in similar condition. Had been stored for 30 years. Now I’m restoring it.

    I spent my whole youth with 3.0 liter Capris, had loads but that was back when you could by a nice one for 600 quid, so so many memories with these from Mk1s to Mk3s, then I bought a 2.8 injection, didn't keep it long, found a low mile one owner 3.0S and just had to have it so sold the 2.8,

    Lady had had car 35 years. said it had 22,000 miles. Turns out reading prev owners notes it had done at least 59,000 mi. Lesson there, even people can genuinely tell you stuff, but the data is incorrect!
    She sure had a Helluva lot of spares.
    Car looks very good, some minor rust & defects, but straight & solid! Has been stored in a good solid dry building.
    Needs an owner with a large garage, and an online auction account, an understanding partner.
    Top project!

    My first car was a 1966 mustang in 1975 at age 15.. I sold it to purchase my second car at age 16 in 1976 a 1973 V-6 auto mercury capri .. in America instead of ford badging the capri has mercury badging .. Rare in England rare in America .. it looks just like my first teenage ride since the mustang was purchased before I could legally drive .. Do you have her contact info ? Respectfully Romeo Welch .. third removed straight off the boat European / American born ..

    Has the owner given any indication as to what she wants?
    I must say that I'm not a buyer so wouldn't waste her time but there will be a lot of interest on the selling price if available.

    There are still many cars in garages or barns that have been kept by someone. But these people are slowly dying out. Today's cars are disposable, the spare parts are already very expensive today because you can no longer buy individual parts, only expensive assemblies. And the new cars have no soul, one looks like the other. Why should you collect something like this?

    • @Classiccarbscouk
      @Classiccarbscouk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree with your analysis and explanation 100%
      The fact that young people/children ate growing up in these cars and forming early memories (some of them fond ones) in these cars. This make me think that today's cars -as plastiky as they are - might be the futures classic/desirable investments/treasures etc..
      I might be talking rubbish though 🤔
