crazy how important touch is on these wonderful instruments. if the mallet is pushed a little too hard then the accent throws the balance of the entire instrument as it resonates with the other notes. so the lower tounges are much louder than the higher tounges. kind of like playing a piano where each note in the melody has an extremely wide volume dynamic relationship. perhaps too wide. what ive noticed with tuned metal and claypot drums is that the tendency is to play the lower pitcher harder . its a challenge to trust the sound will come through just by activating the sound surface. that no other touch unless absolutely intended should be played. and so we go from a music box sound to some ethereal transcendent timeless and emotional statement. the real challenge of these instruments. an exploration of touch as much as sound. whether with fingers or mallets.

Thank you! We can make 2-sided drums only in 30cm and 35cm size, in these sizes they sound excellent! We tried to make 2-sided 22cm drums, the sound was very poor. So, if you want a 2-sided tank drum - a 30cm one would be a good choice, if you're looking for a deeper sound - check the scales for 35cm 2-sided drums. Different designs we can make even on a 22cm drum, just contact us via email: kosmosky.sales@gmail.com

What is used to illuminate the drums from the inside? I have a 30 cm tritone, would like to try to add the colored lights. I may consider a 22 cm next purchase.
