You went to easy on this movie in my opinion in the third shrek movie during the bar scene where’ charming is recruiting he asks a few villains who they were and one was rumpelstilken who looks nothing like the one in this movie and except charming everyone pretty much had a happy ending at the end of the third meaning this one shouldn’t have been made at all
You're forgetting how he and Donkey had to take several days to get to Fiona's castle in the first one but it takes only a couple hours' round trip here.
That actually isn't too far fetch as when you are going to a place you never been for the first time it would take some time and with him being with someone he hates it will take longer. However the second time they knew the route and maybe a shortcut seeing as that is Donkeys house and where his kids and baby mama lives so I am assuming they made that trip a few times. But ya a trip gets shorter the more you make it.

At first I thought it was Far Far Away because Shrek and his familly throws a party there and Rumplestlilskin(who was seen being kicked out from a Far Far Away library) suddenly appear when Shrek and Fiona have their " " "fight" " ". But it doesn't stop there: Rumplestlilskin must have teleported Shrek near his swamp after signing his contract because it takes him less than several minutes to see if his family is still there, which is a major deal because in the second Shrek Far Far Away is at least 700 miles from Duloc. And it doesn't stop there: in the eventuality I remembered incorrectly and Shrek did in fact throw his party in Duloc for his kids, the witches capture Shrek in his swamp. They must have good teleporting abilities because they're in Far Far Away seconds later! They can fly, sure, but they're using Donkey to carry Shrek so there's no way they covered that long of a distance within a day. And certainly not at the slow pace Donkey is going! Edit: I remembered another detail that would make Shrek's journey impossible: in the first Shrek it was clearly established that the castle that held Fiona captive needed several days to be reached. Shrek, in my calculations, already died trying to reach his swamp the first time. Somehow he's able to go there by foot and come back to "Far Far Duloc" within the same day...

Nah this method totally works. You have to kiss a few frogs before you get a prince. It's just that in this case the kissing is fighting. I personally know some boys from elementary school who had this work for them. They got the girl and everything worked out magically in the end. I wouldn't recommend kids doing this later in life. It'd probably get them arrested. But trust me kids, this is what true love looks like. When you get older though, I can't say that it'll definitely work...

What third movie? I only remember Shrek, Shrek 2, and Shrek Forever after. @Pat Mgroin It's early 2000 humor for kids, you can't really judge it by today standards. Besides, shrek can actually tell a good story and it doesn't rely on 'references' to do so. Most of the references are for humor. Remember, this is supposed to be a parody of fairytales for children.
No joke that birthday party scene was definitely the best scene in the movie. It does a great job at illustrating how stressful birthday party planning can be.

I believe the reason Prince Charming set off to rescue Fiona in Shrek 2 was because he was told that the dragon was no longer guarding her. This would explain why Prince Charming wasn't mentioned in this film; without Shrek and Donkey there to save Fiona, the dragon would still remain, which would keep Charming from ever attempting a rescue of his own due to his cowardice.
7:46 yeah but Charming and his mom were only after the crown and when her parents got Thanos'd by the ginger midget she lost the crown and wasn't a princess anymore therefore Charming's plan got ruined and he had no interest in saving her anymore
I know this is a year old but remember that charming didn't know Fiona had been rescued until he went to the castle. So he wouldn't have known the kingdom was gone until he reached the castle anyway

This movie came out when I was seven and I can very distinctly remember becoming so stressed at the party scene it actually drove me to tears from anxiety. :/
I dont understand how this is bad. It is complicated, realistic in terms of character motivations, emotional, the music is great and that villain is delightful to watch. It has so many hidden meanings and some funny moments. Just because it's a darker and more emotional story and not a massive memeable joke doesn't mean it's bad.
When it comes to magic there are rules. So if you're still going to do a contract with a demon or someone that deals with witchcraft you and the thing you're making a deal with have to follow rules. So an exit clause could be apart of that. I think it all depends. But there are usually rules when it comes to magic and supernatural actions

I find it fascinating how people don't want to say these words, but are perfectly fine saying "Jesus" and "God", which is blasphemous and according to the bible, the only sin that can't be forgiven. Words that should be much worse to use, than simply saying "fuck" or "hell" or "damn".

I believe the reason Prince Charming set off to rescue Fiona in Shrek 2 was because he was told that the dragon was no longer guarding her. This would explain why Prince Charming wasn't mentioned in this film; without Shrek and Donkey there to save Fiona, the dragon would still remain, which would keep Charming from ever attempting a rescue of his own due to his cowardice.

This movie came out when I was seven and I can very distinctly remember becoming so stressed at the party scene it actually drove me to tears from anxiety. :/
I dont understand how this is bad. It is complicated, realistic in terms of character motivations, emotional, the music is great and that villain is delightful to watch. It has so many hidden meanings and some funny moments. Just because it's a darker and more emotional story and not a massive memeable joke doesn't mean it's bad.
