    You can find replacement dashboard for your car here: ebay.us/FzY4L8
    Or alternatively check your local junk yard for much better prices (usually around $50).
    (this is eBay affiliated link)

      i just did all this thinking there was an issue with my ac vent doors 😂😂
      it ended up being low on ac got some ac hoses replaced by some guys in mex for a little less than $200.
      im replacing those small little tweeters, i didnt knew i had lol.
      im keeping my broken and abused dash though. not worth to replace on this car. mine is a 2007 with 126,000miles.

    What an excellent video, I really appreciate your time to document this clear and concise repair procedure for a common problem on these cars, thank you !!
    This is a KNOWN MANUFACTURING DEFECT. Nissan knew of this problem for years and under a prior class action law suit in FL agreed to replace all of those dashes for free with factory new ones. However, they screwed the rest of us living in other states (there is no sun elsewhere right?) and denied any responsibility for this issue which should have been a Nationwide recall instead leaving us to fend for ourselves. The shiny dash top produces dangerous glare to the driver and was found to be a safety issue. I was quoted $2600 by the dealer to replace for my 2008 Coupe. The new part can be had for about $1000 with discount which is still pricey considering it's their fault.
    I am told 2007-2010 dashes are all the same and would fit. Unfortunately, no good used ones to be had currently. I am looking into a molded hard topper which I see they make. Was wondering if anyone has tried one of those and what you thought?

    • @DIYtime
      @DIYtime  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Another caveat was you had to file claim until certain date, so if yours melted year later, you are screwed (Im in FL but still got screwed).
      I used 2012 dash on 2007 car. Had no issues.

    • @ironeagle1281
      @ironeagle1281 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DIYtime Interestingly, we also have a 2012 sedan and that dash while slightly tacky, does not exhibit any shinyness or cracking so far. I wonder if they quietly fixed the problem on later models.

    I think I need to remove my ventilation ductwork..my car has had a terrible odor that just happened one day about 2 months ago..I have of course changed and then went ahead and removed the new cabin air filter..took off the cowling under the hood etc..could see the blower motor..there was pine needles and pieces of the old foam sealer trim coming out of the vents and out of the cabin air filter box area and stinks ! Have you run into this problem that I have mentioned here ?? As I said earlier you did a great job here !

    Wow, it’s so complicated, I felt a little regret buying this generation Altima, I am thinking about trading it for the previous generation, since older cars are easier to work on, the right to repair cars is shrinking as time goes on and it’s heartbreaking.

    Very good instruction but after viewing this video I think I'll just live with the dashboard and a good cleaning. All this just to remove a dashboard

      Emergency stash - must have in your car. $20 will get you out of most situations, food, gas, etc, in case you forget your wallet.

    Nissan is terrible for not recalling all cars with this issue! It makes me not want to buy my next car from this company!

    I had a dream just moments ago where my mother (not a car enthusiast or have any knowledge on car components other than operation) told me to get my dash replaced. Apparently the car i was using was my dad's 2010 hyundai elantra when irl i use a silver 2010 kia forte sx. Anyway, i asked her "you know how to do that?" as i was obviously quite shocked. She only shrugged in response. She showed it to me and it was glossy plastic and light blue, literally 3x more saturated than the blue paintjob on the car itself. I walked outside my porch, went in the car and that was the end of the dream. I guess it was too weird to see the full story
