This is a compilation of all the Mac Tonight related video I've collected, including various commercials and footage of the Mac animatronic by Mannetron.
Many of these are already on TH-cam, but I thought people might enjoy a compilation video.
The picture in the beginning of the video is from one of my many Mac Tonight shirts. I always found the nighttime/moon/cityscape theme just so comforting in these ads. I do love jazz too, but specifically it's the visuals that resonate so much with me 🌜
It’s hard to describe just how awesome is guy is. To just simply call him cool won’t cut it. He’s demonstrated that he’s sharp, charismatic, confident, dignified, down to earth, not to mention practical as well. He’s also amiable, well spoken, dapper, proud and professional.
He's a gentleman, a bon vivant and a man-about-town.

Damn me too, I was obsessed(which I kinda still I’m) with these commercials and it actually worked and got me hungry to at least eat at Mc Donald’s (I didn’t since I’m diabetic). I think it’s so fascinating that these commercial still work after like decades, it even works for a new generation
I can't believe how amazing the sets look. Can you imagine how much work went into building those just for a commercial? Now it would be all CGI and it would completely lose the charm.

To be fair, it was only a small minority that depicted him as a monster. Most who grew up in that era remember him in his original incarnation.
What did the internet did to him? I only now him for a random comercial video and thought the song was cool
I loved these as a kid. I didn't know it was based off the song "Mack The Knife" and was amazed when I heard the song on the radio.
These commercials had a distinct production value, and this floaty fantasy feel to them that you only get with practical effects and sets. The world is different now, and I doubt we'll ever see the return of Mac Tonight. Sad.

Mac Tonight was a great character. Kids would like his shades and the song, and adults would appreciate the reference to Mack the Knife.

Mac Tonight started on a whim, he auditioned for a music ad with MacDonalds with all his passion and all his voice Mac Tonight flew past the expectations of the heads in charge of the gig and was hired on the spot. Mac had made all the commercials he was contracted to and had become the idol of MacDonalds overnight. Sadly Mac couldn't handle the fame, he was frightened by the limelight and was unable to leave his house due to the fear of the massive crowds that flocked at him whenever in sight, but as an idol he was a necessity to the brand, unable to preform Mac was reproduced through look alike actors and was fired instantly. The fakes hired by MacDonalds never lived up to the original's fame and slowly Mac became an obscurity. Washed up and needing of money Mac Tonight was forced to preform at small shabby venues, the stench of alcohol lingered from feet away and with his frequent hangovers Mac couldn't sing well anymore and often moved slowly as to not cause himself pain.
Although crippled by depression Mac wanted to make one last big performance as to end his reign with one big hurrah, Mac Tonight planned and organized a large venue as to gather the fans he had lost long ago, expecting his last moments in the spot light Mac wished to please the people he had let down and show them what he truly had left to offer them, Mac was going to sing not the song that had brought him fame but the song that had brought him calmness, he was going to sing the one song that game him comfort in his dark times because he wanted his send off to bring his fans comfort that they would see him one last time, Mac was to sing "what a wonderful world" by Louis Armstrong. Greeted by the curtains separating and a spotlight gleaming Mac sang to a non-professionally filmed venue with only one third of the seats filled. Mac Tonight sang with more passion then he had ever sang in his life, but Mac instantly realized he was no longer known and had already been long forgotten as an idol and known as a gimmick.
It was a beautiful day in fall when Mac Tonight was sitting alone in his one roomed apartment, Mac had finished his venue and was sitting thoughtless on his bed staring towards the TV without a thought in his head. Mac Tonight was emotionless and cold only breathing and absorbing the noise from the TV directing in his brain as a commercial came on. The first image of a clock striking six thirty had brought Mac to attention as he saw the joke play before his eyes, the joke that was directed at him and his career, the joke that had brought with it the revelation of Mac's only career in his life. Mac had come to the thought that the only impotence of his life had been a joke all of his life and that his fame was never serious. They only saw him as a joke and so did Mac Tonight, it was then that Mac had killed himself. Mac Tonight hanged himself and died instantly, his body was found eight days later and Mac Tonight was given no funeral.
Although it is unknown whether Mac Tonight had any family or not, it is known that there was one thing that Mac had never lived to bring to the public, Mac Tonight had thought of recording something himself as to make his name grow past MacDonalds and towards himself. It is also Unknown if this recording even exists today, all that is known about Mac's final recording is that it was left behind by Mac Tonight placed delicately on top of his TV and then sold in a public auction after his death. This homemade vocal recording by Mac Tonight had only two words neatly written on the center.

It's cool, but, It was a ripoff of Mac the Knife and I think McDonald's got sued over it. Just like mayor McCheese and sheriff Big Mac were too close to HR Puff n' stuff, which they also got sued over.

It's silly, but seeing a Mac Tonight commercial is one of my earliest memories (I was born in 87 so I would have only been two years old when the main ad campaign ended), and it's actually weirdly haunting to see this guy again. He's almost a part of my subconscious at this point, this is like peeking behind the veil of the mind or something haha.
