I seriously can't understand why each tank CAN'T have a good aoe threat ability for AT LEAST 3 mobs as every tank should be able to hold at least 3 mobs in 5mans or it's just not a good time for those tank classes with trigger happy dps in modern wow. Paladins with unlimited aoe threat can still benefit from pulling more then one pack. It doesn't take away from tanks having more special roles to be able to hold threat on at least 3 mobs (and "cc" or tab target on extra mobs). Although who cares at this point as the runes are making classes so powerful that everyone is going to face tank in 5mans at this point and mow through them quick enough unless they make other changes. Like the trash in BFD is a free for all, no one cares if you pull threat as the mobs die so quick.
People will stop being trigger happy with DPS once we hit the higher level dungeons that will punish you for losing aggro. Let's be real you only need tanks for bosses at this level as the mobs in low level dungeons don't hit very hard.
Rogue Tank - Blade dance Rune is held behind ordinance where as all the other runes are relatively easy to obtain. so its the last offspec i could try.
The main problem with avoidance not working when casting in the past was the fact that if you weren't passively crit immune via Defense Cap then you would lose crit immunity. Warlocks have baked in crit immunity from the metamorph tank rune, it doesn't matter if you dont dodge a hit as long as incoming damage is healable, it'll be viable. (this is assuming content dont hit hard enough to pose an actual threat, and even if it did, warlocks have no significant dodge or parry rating anyway so, eh :D
As a Rogue who has tanked dungeons and BFD, here are the problems and why nobody does it: 1) Just getting the 'tanking" runes was more tedious than any other class to get the ability to tank (except maybe Lock, but everyone wanted Meta because it was cool af). One was gated behind the Supply crate grind, the other behind the shredder/ordinance/fish oil grind. You couldn't even attempt these until level 20+. 2) The Vanilla combo-point system runs completely against tanking. All combo points are lost ON TARGET LOSS, not just attacking something, just clicking something else and your combo points are gone, and with it any mitigation through Blade Dance. This means you have to make Tease a mouse-over macro just to be usable. 3) No AOE or Spell Mitigation whatsoever. No Blade Flurry, no Fan of Knives, no Cloak of Shadows. Rogues are a cool tank spec idea on paper, but outside the Runes are completely unsupported by the rest of the class toolkit and for that reason Rogues do not bother, at least in Phase 1.
There's so much inventive potential for the concept with things like smoke bombs, poison traps, counter attacks that hit back everything that swings at you for high threat, modifing the throw ability to deal aoe, etc. They wouldn't even have to do high damage to avoid being OP in pvp, just tack on a ton of threat to them kind of like mindblast for priests.
As a tankadin main, what needs to be addressed is a rune that will actually make pala tanking effective. The threat we produce is infinitessimal compared to other tanks, esp. the devastate thing where warrior tanks walk around casually doing 400+ dps at level 25. We *need* something to be able to stand next to them in terms of threat production, I don't know what. Perhaps a rune that augments Holy Shield by A LOT to actually be able to have equal amounts of threat, e.g. "when Holy Shield does +100% damage and when it is active all threat generated goes up by 100%" or something. Something that will not break PVP but make let us tank PVE in an equal footing to a dudu, a lock or a warrior. They *must* fix this, they *have to*. Otherwise palatanks will again be relegated to "ah, we also have this guy, he is specced tank, poor thing".
Not making all the runes holy damage based definitely hurt the itemization. Without a proper strength to spell damage talent (or stam) then pallies really do not have teh right gearing to scale.
I already have been saying for weeks that Resto and Ele Shaman are going to Make Shaman the best class in the game. All 3 Specs are going to be fucking broken next phase and all Viable in Raid and PvP. Already have Rumors of getting a 2H rune as well so Ravager is gonna slap. Also Thermaplug. Stormstrike is also goanna hit with 2 weapons.
really wish blizzard had gotten out the phase 2 preview before the layoffs so that content creators had something to talk about that wasn't just "bots/gdkp", "gold farm this now!", or lazily going onto wowhead and looking up lvl 26-40 spells and talents.
I don't think people realize how strong druid is going to be in this next phase, in all aspects of the game. Most people don't realize this but Heart of the wild is the strongest set of talent points in the entire game by a huge margin. 20% more strength in cat, more hp in bear and more mana in caster form. Druids will also be getting the shapeshifting helm, MCP, shred cost reduction and full combo points from crit. I'm calling it now that feral cats are going to be right up there with warriors for single target damage. Rogue tank will never work with the current combo point system, plus they have low hp pools with no magic mitigation and no form of aoe. They really should have went the subtlety route for rogue tanking with the use of smoke bombs, caltrops (aoe dmg), aoe poisons, creating shadow clones of themselves that keep threat on adds, etc. A combat tank rogue is just a shittier version of a fury prot but with less hp and worse spender mechanic.
I am pretty sure Druids won't get shapeshifter helmet. You need tribal leather working for that and to complete the quest you need leather working at 235. Professions will be capped at 225 most likely.
I rolled rogue for the tanking, I like the pvp and dps too but tanking was the main reason for me. I have tanked BFD, but the problem is lack of AOE threat. The way I see it, when we get fan of knives and the cleave ability we will see rogue tanks here and there.

I never really enjoyed hunters before and thought I'd give melee a hunter a try in SOD. The biggest problem it has is the lack of aspect. With Lion being an aura there is no aspect that benefits melee hunter. Furthermore, you get no benefit from hunters mark and the only 'rotation' you have is fishing for Wild Strikes outside of Raptor/Flanking window. Hell, you don't even use Carve on bosses as it shares a slot with Beast Mastery. There needs to be a rune that provides an aspect which gives Melee AP and benefits from Hawk Talents, ideally while also lowering the Mongoose CD or a new melee ability. the biggest concern is making the melee runes too generic that everyone will just melee weave with them instead of being one or the other.
Actually you could consider monkey the melee aspect 8% dodge is respectable. I always use it when in melee combat. Plus if they were to buff mongoose (that procs on dodges, which monkey helps to provide) there ya go! But I do see what you're saying. How about an aspect of the raptor blizz?
I've already spent the last hour or so leveling my new carrion bird pet on my hunter as I think it will be superior to cats in phase 2... unless you get your hands on Broken tooth or humar the pridelord. I tried camping that cat but everyone wants it o I just went wth a carrion bird, because it gets one extra ability cats don't. you have claw, bite and screech and later on dive too which is the bird version of Dash. They should honestly turn survival hunter into a tank spec. give tanking to hunter if rogues don't want it. I know you don't play hunter, so let me break down pet abilities for you. only boars have charge in vanilla. Gorillas get no charge ability, so they will slowly watch up to you, and if they catch you, they will clap you hard with thunderstomp, but they are pretty easy to kite. I want a "Beast within" rune. I want to enrage when my pet does. If you hate PvP, you will want to get rank 3. on all your toons before phase 2 when rogues get all their tools, PvP will be hell when they get cheap shot and all that
yet another thing alliance gets for free that horde basically doesn't get access to at all... yes, earth shield can do the same.... for 1 target at a time.... with 3 charges.... that needs to be constantly reapplied.... and takes a rune slot.... and costs mana.... and costs a GCD..... and is essentially wasted because you're not putting it on the tank where earth shield normally goes.... meanwhile just 1 of 2-4 paladins in your raid needs to pop on the aura to give the effect to the whole raid and forget about it. hmmm... i've heard this story a couple of times already and its getting old real fast.
The Automatic Crowd Pummeler in it's current state is really bad for anyone but feral. It attacks insanely fast and does less dps than the sword from BFD. Expecting it to either be altered or just a druid only weapon tbh.
I played alot WoW, but I never played a mage yet and if you would ask me if I would want a SoD TBC End Edition would sign up immidiatly, but just capping the AoE Damage in Vanilla like in TBC is a very bad Idea for more than only 1 reason. They said that they will make the Game better without nerfing (Hunters doesnt counts anyways) and its Vanilla after all, otherwise I would also want a Dungeon Finder, a Dual Spec Ability, Walk on Water Potion, PvP Arena and a Paladin for Horde. I see assassination rogues becoming disgusting in phase 3. Phase 2 no because of gnomer and the mechanical and elemental mobs. I think people are underestimating how much dmg poisons will end up doing and how hard mut already hits.
about bosses being buster tanks or not, if they are actually changing bosses, their mechanics, yea... i think they should do it. The only mechanic classic has is threat, if you are adding another type, just remove threat completely then, make it where tanks generate 300% more threat and thats it

Give us blade storm if You wanna give is somthing. Or be brave and give us a weap Rune that increases efects of weapons. Like inc proc or damage of weapon proc. We are weapon masters so wold be cool. Also Hellfire is fine. stop bitching about having no AOE threat. i played warlock many years and this ability generates tons of threat while actively trying to _avoid_ generating threat. trust me a warlock tank who is actively _TRYING_ to get threat _WILL_ get threat. nobody said you have to stand there and channel for the entire duration either, that's doofus thinking. you can channel it for like 3-4 ticks and go back to your normal tanking routine. warlocks are spoiled and its honestly cringe and disingenuous to act like there is anything wrong with Hellfire whatsoever. you don't get to run around while autocasting this uber aoe dps spell WHILE being able to do other things, with absolutely no handicap, so forget about that.
Stv is going to be a shit show that i refuse to take part of because it favors multiple 40 man alliance gank squads and endless corpse camping....no thx.
I just think the zone exclusive crap is stupid. Why are the rewards of all the new events only usable in those zones? Mounts & buffs should be usable everywhere.

Im calling it! Rogues are getting a poison Rune called Corrosive poison that deals damage to mechs
so you can spec into push back resistance then if you have a paladin you have focus aura and it then becomes a 100% pushback prevention

rogues gonna have 60-70 % avoidance at 40 almost at all times theyll be huge
