MP-12 is still awesome. But for Red Alert, I went for Bad Cube’s because the mold is totally different unlike TT’s which is just the same as MP-12.

Agreed. The Badcube gives Red Alert some uniqueness when standing next to MP-12.
@@TMReviews it’s good especially when you are into toon accuracy...facesculpt is way better IMO...but the mold doesn’t fix the same common issues like those gaps in the knees and it has stability issues due to the spoiler being in a different position...but overall, a good figure
Those sound like things that would bug me personally, even if the sculpt is better
@@TMReviews Then, it’s not worth getting then because for me the Sideswipe one is not worth it because MP-12 is definitely better, IMO.

Thanks, great balanced review. I’ve got the TT+ but I like the look of the BC chest on bot mode. Pros and cons for both, either looks good in an MP line up

I love the Toon Accuracy on BC. Other than that I'll stick with TT.. by the way shoulder cannon on the wrong side lol.. even Transformers Devastation Video game had it wrong 🤷🏾♂️😂. Great Comparison review🌟

The only spot I would disagree with is I would have given toon accuracy to BadCube overall. The lower body looks far more toon accurate, but to be fair, Takara wasn't going for super toon at the time. Excellent comparison, as always. I definitely appreciate these videos. I know a lot of effort goes on behind the scene. The BadCube is actually available on Showz for $78. I am with you though, and staying with Takara on this one.
Ya I debated on that one for a while, some of the gaps on BC swayed me eventually
that's fair. i have never actually handled the BadCube mold.
Great idea for a video, TMR! I've been curious about this for years. I have the original MP-12 toybased Sideswipe, because it scratches the itch for my toy nostalgia for the G1 toy. It's chunky and blocky like that old toy, but with a lot more articulation, so it addresses my criticisms as a kid.
I just can't with that head and face on the BC. I think I spent too many hours staring at the face of the original to accept that big of a redesign.
Ya I am not a fan of the face, but some of the other parts like the chest are pretty cool

I have BC Recon because I like the way the arms and back transform, and I have several TT's as well. I've been thinking about getting Steamroll and painting it up to be my Tigertrack and getting Sentinel Blaze as my Spin Out. going with the officials would be easier, but also a bit boring, lol.
Interesting
The sleekness and accuracy of the Lamborghini alt mode is important enough for me to prefer Badcube on this one. Yeah, both have the ugly stuff visible in the windshield but Badcube's has less seam lines and an overall significantly more accurate Lambo shape, especially from the sides. I do slightly prefer TT's bot mode, but not enough to prefer it over BC's version.

Definitely pros and cons to both. Neither is perfect but I just decided to get a Badcube 2 pack to add Red Alert to my collection and replace my TT Sidewipe. I still have my Bad Cube Sunstreaker so it'll look pretty good together. Great review and comparison!!
Hey TM. I've been hoping someone would do this review. Thanks a lot. I just want to point out that the retail price for Steamroll was originally $89.99, not $100. I guess Takara still wins that category, but the price difference is pretty negligible.
Looks like you are right, toydojo must have Increased the price after the initial release.
Badcube's effort is pretty nice but I'd much rather Takara go back to the drawing board and come out with a cartoon- and alt-mode-accurate Sideswipe 2.0.

@@TMReviews I also wouldn't mind a 2.0 of Prowl and Wheeljack to fit in better with Sunstreaker. And even though I'm planning on getting a FT Jazz, I'd love to see Takara finally tackle that character.

I have both and I prefer the BC by far, mostly because the car mode is really good and the TT is just horrible.
I see and share the issues of the robot mode on the BC but I still think that it looks decent enough.
If only there was a way to put MP-12+’s head on Steamroll’s slimmer body. Then we would have the PERFECT cartoon version.
I have both sets and Overall, BC is the Winner. Bot, Alt, Toon BC takes. Only thing missing from BC is a bit of Diecast, maybe in the thighs and feet and it's almost FTs good. One of your best Comparisons, Awesome per usual.
The white that the Badcube uses in robot mode has a yellowish tinge to it, which doesn't look that great (in contrast to the stark white on the Takara). The Badcube does have a nice chest, but I feel the Takara takes it in the other categories. Great comparison.

The only reason I didn't go official was because of the GIANT chest. I just couldn't get over that!
I feel like every transformer has issues. There is no such thing as a perfect transformer. I think the takara sideswipe is awful. The chest and legs are way off. Also the height. The BC version looks way closer to the cartoon in my opinion hence why I replaced the takara version w the badcube. I did the same with red alert. Yes the arms n gaps bother me...but not as much as the dimensions n overall aesthetics on the takara. Hopefully one day FT will tackle these molds 🤞
Hope FT does too. Its great to have choices tho

For which figure?
Both. The figures have the shoulder cannon on his right shoulder but the cartoon image for toon accuracy has it on his left shoulder.

just my 2 cents but i would change your cost category and replace it with over all value for your money. Just because something cost less doesn't mean its a better deal, it could have inferior parts or a poor build
That would make it completely subjective because value is based on my perception whereas cost is just a fact. Thanks for watching and for the idea tho
Ok how about this, one item could cost $100 but have a street value of $200, while the other items cost is $80 and will continue to have a street value of $80 afterword, but in your equation the cost winner is the $80 figure. but the true COST value is in the $100 figure.

I dont like the headsculpt of the BC, I changed it with a face of BC red alert, and that was a big improvement. But for me the TT is also better. However for red alert, I like the BC a lot more than de TT😄

Bad cube looks like a nerd standing next to the takara. I'm not into the push towards100 percent toon accurate though. I miss the older MP style aside from maybe 2-3 releases. Its kind of how fans toys won the war for my money. Thanks for the comparison because I was curious about how the two stack up against each other. Especially after hearing quite a few people say they replaced theirs with the bad cube release.

I am surprised that you determined the Takara Tomy version to be superior and even said that it has a more cartoon accurate robot mode. I chose the Bad Cube's version mainly because it looks more cartoon accurate to me. You did not mention in your comparison the Takara Tomy version's bulkier legs at all, and Bad Cube's has much cleaner look on those. Then there is the difference in chest areas that you did mention, and with those to combined along with a better articulated car mode, Steamroll is my preferred Sideswipe.
The legs were tough for me because I do like the more slender legs on BC but I don't like the gaps and kibble, the lack of paint also wasn't for me
Cool comparison... ultimately though if Takara were to do a version 2.0 mould for him it would look like the Badcube, just with better paint and head sculpt. The mould is dated.

The bulkyness on the Takara version looks much better to me
Its definitely a preference thing, personally I like the bulky look of TT, but some like the skinny and tall look of BC

The MP-12, as a car is the worst, the ugliest and I wonder, who will spend money on such a failure?
Shall I speak of its doors, which are full of cracks? For its front wheels, which are almost invisible?
The other, when it's a vehicle, it's like a real car and you don't know if it's transforming. I wonder how they compare.
