The last time I needed cutmen during a break, I didn't even realize they were there until I had about 30g of cloth jammed up my nose. The cutman could have been the Dalai Lama or Hitler and I wouldn't have realized :D
You barely feel it. Usually the cut might hurt a bit but it numbs up pretty quick. I have a great scar from a nose split I got in the first round of a boxing match, and I only knew I got cut because the blood.
Jess and her team are amazing. I ran my first k1 show earlier this year and had her team top class service and so down to earth and knowledgeable. Amazing to have her on a platform like this 💪

She's absolutely class. She's been a mainstay on the Irish MMA scene for years. Incredible at her job and always seems genuinely more interested in helping the fighters than trying to get her own profile raised. Delighted to see her doing something like this.

This is really fascinating content. Really great to see someone like Jess who has a role within MMA that we don't usually hear from. this is great but who ever said the cut person is the priority in the corner? I could see how someone might claim theyre the most important role since they improve a fighter's physical condition as much as they can, but its not like the fighter is actually thinking about the cut person while theyre being worked on. Seems obvious they should be thinking about what their coach is saying
My answer when asked is that I like to stay at the side of the fighters while I work so as not to disturb the mojo between fighter and coach. Sometimes, with bad cuts, it's impossible to work from the side if we want to keep them fighting. So many fights and title fights have been stopped because of cuts that's manageable by a good cut person. However, many fighters do worry about the cuts because they are afraid the fight will be stopped. I couldn't count the amount of times I've been asked by a fighter when I come in. "How bad is it?" " Do you think they'll stop it?" Because for most pro fighters, this is their wage.
