Actually the officer could temporarily take your firearm for his safety. The courts would back him. In fact if you became hostile the officer could take your firearm and you would have to get in contact with a detective to get it back. It could take months if you tried to give them a hard time. Doesn't matter if it was on the seat or on your person. They have laws and procedures in place to make it a bad day for you if they want too.

Us minorities have too careful reaching for identification and such when the cop knows we have a firearm in the car, I’d rather let the cop take it then get shot reaching for my ID, last I got pulled over when the cop asked me was I a CCL holder I said yes and he asked was it in the car, I told him yes then said now that you know I’m not reaching for anything matter of fact I’ll get out the vehicle, he said ok asked to see my ID and CCL card then let me go he never search or asked too see my gun.
What are you thinking? You have a paper plate taped inside a dark, tinted window. Why not take the tag from out of the inside window, laminate it, and place it on the rear, to avoid this harassment?

here's an idea. how about putting the temp tag in the tag frame, LIKE BOTH COPS ADVISED YOU TO DO, then maybe you wouldn't keep getting pulled over. in some states you can display temp tags in the rear window, provided that they can be seen and read. putting it in a tinted or "stained" window would make reading it difficult.

If it were me, I'd have bought some adhesive plastic covering the day I obtained the vehicle, or the next day, so as to prevent an instance like this, but that's how I'd have handled it. All-in-all, don't give them a reason to pull ya over. The tint/colored windows isn't your fault, like you said, since that's how it came from the manufacturing company which blows my mind why they'd something like that. Such is life. Be safe no matter what.

Best advice ever my friend. I always tell people - If you choose to hold court on the side of the road with an officer, you can expect to be found guilty and convicted on the side of the road as well.

After watching till the end, had to add something. Driving my charger between Tucson and Phoenix, traffic is stupid on I-10, people cruising in the left lane on a 3 lane hwy. I got stupid, passed some cars and hit 90+ for a minute, including a Sheriff. When he ran my plates, he came back and asked for Insurance, which I showed him. He was acting strange, but went back to his SUV. When he came back he asked me if I knew that my plate had been suspended, which was news to me. Long to short, my bank forgot to transfer my insurance from Germany to Arizona, and AZ had done a spot check of insurance, saw that I was not insured in AZ for about a year, and suspended the plate and sent a notice to my PO box in Germany. I never received the notice. I had two other cars registered and insured in AZ, but the DMV couldn't figure that out. Officer said that he was supposed to impound the car on the spot, but it was Veterans day, and he was pretty sure it was a clerical issue, and let me off with a warning. I am 100 that he let me off because I didn't argue with him, and was trying to figure out what had happened and correct it on the spot with calls to my bank. For those that would say White cop letting a white dude off, no, he was Hispanic or native American.

Depending on where you’re at, you’re going to her pulled over with paper plates. I generally wait until my plates come in before driving the automobile. I’m not entertaining the opportunity to get pulled over and have God knows what happen to me.

First off, it's illegal for the officer to reach in and obtain your firearm if it's not consented. Second, have your firearm in a holster and put up somewhere in your vehicle without it being seen.
I had my firearm on the side on my door and the cop took it for they safety, got pulled over for tint, they gave me my gun back with the magazine out but at least I didn’t get a ticket

Or maybe let them take it 🫤 they did that cause he could easily jump over to grab it and start shooting… they only grabbed the gun for their safety ; sure they didn’t legally have to do it but for them to feel safer he asked if he could take it for the stop. And the cop took it apart for if he put the gun back in the car the driver could’ve easily grabbed it and started shooting. (That’s just what I’m thinking)
Personally I feel more of a “Freeman” by making the best of the situation to make sure everyone feels safe. If I’ve got nothing to hide why would I even make it seem like i do.
You gave him permission to take your gun. You could have said no and you could have taped the plate in it's correct spot.

Did not hear the cops say they thought it was stolen? Are the 2 of you mind readers? They said they can't see the plates. He said you can't read the plate. How difficult is it to laminate the plate? Use clear packing tape. It was raining but he has a garage. Last time I looked it does not rain in your garage.

That paper plate is no excuse I just picked up a 2023 Acura mdx and I had a paper plate from New York and I put a license plate cover over the plate and it was fine even went through the car wash many times with no issues.

2. Handing over, rather than displaying your license is also a mistake.
3. Paper plates went out years ago.
4. You told him to go ahead and take your firearm.

here in kansas when you get a paper plate it comes in a plastic sleeve sometimes with holes punched in it so you can put it where its supposed to go. weird you dont have those.
I have paper plates on my car to because I just bought it. I just put clear tape over it so it's water proof. I've washed it to with my power washer and as long as you don't blast it directly your good
