I have been following the channel for a while now and the progress you have made is amazing!! it was great to hear about your plans to continue improving your Spanish, I feel like I have been at an intermediate level forever but it's important to keep going and challenge yourself :)

Crazy to see your improvement. It’s hard to start trying to improve when I doubt my ability to be consistent because of being so busy. Pero voy a tratar! Thanks for the inspiration
Qué interesante! I love what you said about studying comedy to try to improve your ability to play with the language. I'm looking forward to being able to - someday! - get to the point where I can meaningfully do the same.

Do you just ignore them, and watch/listen to whatever, or do you consciously try to improve your understanding of certain harder accents? Recently I've been trying to make an effort to listen to some more difficult accents even though I understand a lot less, but I'm not sure if that's a good approach.
@@boxingcompass yeah I mean I think it’s good to challenge yourself in general, I don’t necessarily select people specifically for accents at the moment but I have thought about spending some time trying to get to grips a bit more with Andalusian Spanish specifically in the future because I still struggle with some of those accents sometimes

After how many hours of immersion did you jump into native content Shane? I've watched around 80 hours of Dreaming Spanish now, I am thinking about introducing it after another several dozen.
crap...my comment didn't make it :-( Well anyway, all I was saying was: ¡Enhorabuena! Also, since you mentioned wanting to have more options to play around with the languages, dunno if you'd enjoy this or not, but one thing I do (and I feel it has been helpful for me) is just to run little games in the background when speaking. It can be a list of specific words I force myself to use (basically " word bingo": you win if you place them all). So dunno, say I have a card with "cachondearse de alguien", "que me quiten lo bailao", "presumir" and "paella", then I'll try to squeeze those into the conversation somehow, regardless of what the topic is. Obviously you have to try to use them in a way that makes sense in context. Or it can be something more abstract like "words/expressions related to water/fire/flying/etc." and then I'll try to use as many of those words related to that theme as I can. Then there's the opposite, which is to use a list of prohibited words. So, for instance, if the topic was how I studied Spanish, maybe I'd say I can't use "trabajar", "estudiar", "empezar" and "español" and see how I can work my way around it. Anyway, they're just dumb little games I play but I figured I'd share because I feel they've been helpful for me. Basically just adding artificial restrictions that push me out of my comfort zone, and "gamifying" it coz I'm an overgrown child who likes to win at stupid games. ^^

It’s challenging but very fun! My comprehension still depends a lot on the comedian and where they’re from
