This is amazingly silent. As much as I love my diesels, having quiet coaches is a thing of beauty. I can see Baltimore getting these XE40s sometime by 2019 after the 140 XD40 buses (2018 order)
Hi there I'm currently training with the UTA (Utah Transit Authority) and I drove a 2018 version of this bus as well. Very quiet bus. Quick of the line. Took a few hours to get the hang of the regen braking and interlock system at stops but impressive bus indeed. I use to live in NYC. The Bronx was my home.
Orion made diesel electric buses where the engine ran a generator. The agency here bought hundreds of them but was the only customer. The electric ones don't have the range and CNG buses are so slow you can't get anywhere in a reasonable amount of time.
The name "XN40" is the code name New Flyer works with to tell what model it is in terms of the family of the model, it's powertrain fuel type and it's Length in Feet. The overall name of the XN40 and XE40 is "Xcelsior". Here's how the naming goes. XN40 XE40 X= Xcelsior X= Xcelsior N=Natural Gas E= Electric 40= 40 feet long. 40= Same length. This site explains cptdb.ca/wiki/index.php/New_Flyer_Industries#Bus_models_breakdown cptdb.ca/wiki/index.php/New_Flyer_Industries#Current The same goes for the original lines of the High floor and Low Floor series.(D40HF and D40LF). (I used to call them CNG D40LF) I apologize if I told you things you already know. Have a good day!

We just got our first XE60 here in LA!
Wow, that bus is insanely quiet!
I know! That's because it's an electric bus.
Finally the M42’s been waiting for a makeover and now its wish has been granted
this bus is gorgeous

Cool, Our Lungs Could Really Use Less Pollution
Internal combustion is dying! 👍🏼🙏🏻
It would be cool if the MTA ordered XE60's or XN60's💯
And now, two years after commenting about it, the XN60s and XE60s are here. How bout that?
Now MTA is considered to by more XE40s and 60s
My city will get these buses soon
Toronto?
I think Knoxville, TN is getting these buses in 2021.

Beautiful High Floor Coach USA bus!
That’s how the New Flyers should have been.

Our agency uses MCI buses on long routes we have some that go almost 80 miles from downtown.
It looks the c40lf bus inside of the bus u can tell because the heater in the back
I like these better than proterra since they offer more high floor space. If Proterra added more I would have liked those busses more.
Wow that bus really is quiet 🙄
Why did you sent that the electrics buses are amazing you can’t be mean to the electrics buses
I'm hoping the electric tests go well.
sonicboy678 So Far, they are. 15 new XE60s are being ordered for Mike Quill on the new M14 SBS, which is set to launch in two weeks.
That Bus sounds a lot Softer than the Normal ones
Does it have a pedestrian warning sound?

BenTheMiner / MTA Railfanner Xn40s are cng gas buses, not electric.
My Granny took this to Work all the time
This ran on the Bx35 to be rare
This is a Fisher price toy with AA batteries. Now a REAL bus would be an MCI d4500 or an RTS
NYCT Enthusiast Soon the real buses would be the NovaBus LFS and New Flyer Xcelsiors.
Very. My. 200.
