Another interesting and very informative video. Keep them coming, please. One comment regarding your boots. When I was a Boy Scout, decades ago, I slept outside on the ground in a sleeping bag and left my boots on the ground beside me, as you did in the video. One morning I got up, put my boots on, laced them up and started walking. Almost immediately I felt a sharp, stinging pain in one foot. I couldn't get that boot off fast enough. When I did, I discovered that cause of the pain. A large spider had bedded down in the boot sometime during the night. Ever since that incident I have taken off my boots and slept with my boots inside the sleeping bag with me .
Best tip i seen in this video is " gloves wearing gloves " small hand injuries are compound fatigue no one thinks of... i learned this years ago backpacking for months as an explorer scout.
It is interesting seeing how you can improvise to survive based on the location, terrain, available resources, weather and etc. I always learn a little by watching. Thanks for the effort to teach others.

I've seen so many contestants fail when it comes to harvesting calories and expending them uselessly, usually in shelter building. You'd think they were going to find a bigfoot and start a family or something. The only thing I would do different is exchange the axe for an axe/shovel, dirt (along with grass) being the great insulator from the cold on a one-time dig.
Major... If you went on the "alone" show, I truly believe every other contestant would go home when they found out who they were up against. You'd probably win it in 4 days.. 😂🤣
Love sleeping on a grass bed! My version is 1-2' (approx. 6" compressed) below, woobie/quilt/Tyvex folded in half, then another foot or so on top of the whole thing. The next day I pull the quilt section to air out. For that night I lay the quilt on the already accumulated grass, and add another layer of grass over the whole thing. You sleep like a baby.👍

As a Boy Scout I learned the basics of survival which I carried through my live . Every young person should learn these skills and be thankful as I am we live in these times . Be aware of our forefathers, pioneers and inventors who have gotten us to where we are , most of all to God for providing this beautiful planet with all its resources .

Ratings on sleeping bags is the survival rating which means you will be cold but not die. If you want to be warm and comfortable always go with a much lower rating below the outside temps.
Awesome video! I really enjoyed watching the 10 item kit being used. I also loved the fact that you snared a rabbit 🐇 while afield. A variety of snare setups, and how to configure them would definitely be a valuable piece of knowledge if faced with a survival situation. I appreciate another great video!
A commercial snare will always be the best option, as they can be loaded to maintain a circular shape, have a lock that will keep the prey from escaping, close very quickly and smoothly. Snares, though are a one-time use trap, as the animal twisting as it tries to escape will cause it to kink and never close smoothly again. A better option is the small conibear body grip traps, as they will last many years, and can be reused thousands of times. They're small, and weigh little. A good source of trapping for food are on the Meat Trapper channel.
Handmade snares will work, but not as efficiently as a commercially made snare--they're dirt cheap--commercially made snares can be loaded to keep them round (not teardrop shaped), they close with lightning speed, and have a lock which will keep your prey from escaping. The downside is that they're usually a one-shot, as the animal's twisting to escape will kink the wire, making it slower to close the next time. A better choice are 110 Conibear body grip traps. You'll want a swivel between the Conibear (or snare) and either a snare extension--ordinary baling wire will work on small critters--and the tree to which you tightly tie it. Don't want a coyote to steal your prey AND your trap. Conibear 110--perfect for rabbits and similar sized game--these traps will serve you well for many years, weigh practically nothing and are also dirt cheap. You can find them on eBay. For better info on trapping for survival, check out The Meat Trapper on TH-cam--he doesn't trap for fur, just meat.

As I've said before , surviving off the land (eating wild game) is what makes this channel. One of the main concerns is food, there may not be $40 worth of groceries to depend on for a warm meal. Excellent video!
Robert, I'm a South African Pensioner getting R2090 per month. I get a great kick out of peering into other people's shopping carts. People don't buy food - they buy shit. I buy food - and cook for my deep freeze. I have every rand I spend cowering in a corner begging for mercy.
Thanks for showing us all this to help us survive if we need it in an emergency i would love to get out and practice this however I'm a 60+ woman alone and with health complications i haven't been camping for about 25 years and i miss it
Even if something came it wouldn't be with the fear and anxiety that I have seen in many who are involved in preparation that we would be able to resist. I am very interested in survival, self-sufficiency and being able to be autonomous but for pity's sake I reject the mentality of those who prepare themselves (like some preppers) believing that their safety will derive only from their stocks, and from Them, they accumulate with something of fear and a sense of catastrophism. Those who have faith do not be afraid, give their best in every opportunity and believe and will never be abandoned. Therefore no sense of anguish in learning these techniques, or a somehow hidden sense of catastrophism. Bless you

Great video! Oldest, simplest, trap, still produces. Your thicket shelter was really good choice too. No walking a mile for heavier materials. It saved fatiguing muscles, and burning precious calories, and avoiding potential injury.

Good stuff! So many out there don't know or don't realize getting game or fish is messy and simply don't know how. Sometimes I think more needs to be done. Perhaps a complete dressing, skinning, and preparing a deer. I dunno ... I would think many would be offended. Those are the ones who'd go hungry.

As kids we were always hunting and fishing. Rabbit is an awesome hunt/trap animal. Yeah the hide is small and the amount of consumable meat is low. But, nothing picks up your spirit in a bad situation than even a small amount of meat. Great job on this and many other videos Andrew. You tackled something that not many people on you tube will do. Hunting, trapping, processing, cooking and consumption of your food source.

I've spent many years in the Wilkesboro area. Stone Mountain, almost bit by a copperhead going off trail for mountain navigation. Love NC, the people and the peacefulness and yes Little Richards in Yadkinville, best cole slaw every and the hush puppies. I enjoy your work Sir. Keep at it.
That shelter was supreme ! I'll bet you as snug as a bug in a rug with all that hay matting and the sleeping bag. The shelter it self looked warm and comfortable with plenty of room. Great job again Andrew ! 👍

I've spent many years in the Wilkesboro area. Stone Mountain, almost bit by a copperhead going off trail for mountain navigation. Love NC, the people and the peacefulness and yes Little Richards in Yadkinville, best cole slaw every and the hush puppies. I enjoy your work Sir. Keep at it.

That shelter was supreme ! I'll bet you as snug as a bug in a rug with all that hay matting and the sleeping bag. The shelter it self looked warm and comfortable with plenty of room. Great job again Andrew ! 👍
Thanks for putting this together. I know it's a lot of work; I always learn something. If it were me, I'd struggle between the choice of a sleeping bag or a tarp.
