The Hunt for Iris Borers 6 14 21

If you live in Chicagoland you are going to encounter the iris borer. I find the best time to hunt for these disgusting worms are up to 3 weeks after the tall bearded iris bloom.
My video is a bit crude because it was shot one-handed, but I'm hoping that it will help you identify the trail these slimy worms leave.
As a side note, I cut the leaves of the iris, but many people squish them to get rid of the borer. I talk about this in the video. I'm aware that this is aggressive (Essentially I'm losing a flower), but I have a lot more to lose if the borer population grows. I like being able to see the evidence. In the end, it is your choice, but I want to make sure you know you have options (To cut or to squish).
