Would it have been worth patching the bigger cracks first?

Yes, it actually filled up ok, it was along the wall, there was also a crack behind the wall it was running into. I ended up caulking it and finishing. I for sure wasted several hundred dollars letting it run into the cracks. You'd think it wouldn't take much to fill up but it keeps sucking it down! Haha
