There's no official video to Dionysus, but there are a couple of different award show performances, each one a little different. Also, Stray Kids did a performance cover to this song.

Dionysus is a Greek god of art, fertility and wine; in Korean sul means alcohol and yesul means art, so they play on these words saying they are drunk on art and are always thirsty for more 😌 the leopards and the light bulb constellation above the stage are connected to the myth of Dionysus, and all the members represent different gods in their solo stages

I just realized the fact that this whole second part is just one song with an intro that's ten times longer than the song itself. Iconic.

@@JohLindemann The first part has like 7 minutes edited out mostly of shitty jokes and trying to figure out the best way to word the points I made in the video. This video only has like 3 minutes edited out. It's mostly unedited
You can't even tell that Jimin’s chair was forgotten and he was sitting on air. You briefly see the background dancer slide on his knees to slide the chair into place.
There is a video of mistakes and mishaps that show a side view, which shows a great view of the whole thing.

Been watching that Jimin solo for 3 years and it still takes my breath away and brings tears to my eyes.
For non-musical confirmation of Jimin's angelic qualities, the recent vlog where he takes a jewlery-making class, and the Vlive of Hobi and Jimin right after Lollapaloosa.
The rider with the veiled hat? I've seen an ancient museum piece, made of clay, with a rider in that costume. Think ancient horse-breeding nomads having to deal with dust and sand storms. Both men and women rode astride, in pants, with similar headgear. This is part of the Asian steppe culture that influenced Korea via the inland silk and spice routes that connected with Europe for trade. the 2019 Melon Music Awards by their own saying lasted for 240 minutes. And Jimin is an Angel. On Jungkook ... its called fringe. lol White Leapord Horses ... Hard Flex the song is Dionysus. Anddd your right. I think Jimin was nervous earlier because he sounds way stronger now after singing and dancing. He was actually one of the ones that danced live earlier. All the songs but Microcosmos have videos. You probably would enjoy watch all of the videos. btw Bachus was also represented by the statue Jin kissed just to relate everything.

Each of the solo moments has a super stylized form of some steps from the original choreos, which I think is super cool
Yeah one comment said that each one represents a god as well (you'll have to find the comment though cause I can't remember who was who)
youre one of if not the only reactors i enjoy when you pause and talk and rewind etc cause you always have something of substance to say (lets be real even if its not related or of substance necessarily or if its just funny what you say is still entertaining)
imagine not being able to pause and watching this live i could not process anything when they did this also award shows are literally like 8 - 12 hours in korea so it was so late by the time they performed my brain was not functioning at all. zero braincells by the end 😭
they used many old song snippets throughout the performances like at the end in the middle of dionysus their song N.O. was played before the edm dance break.

I really appreciate your continued support of me! I try not to pause "for no reason" but ya know that's a very subjective thing. I also picked up on the song snippets (well the ones I actually knew the song for) especially during the solo dance sequences.
til this day i can't believe this performance exists. it is without a doubt the most epic award show performance in history and globally. they really put it all on the table for us to see. this feels like big hit realised they had too much money left in their annual budget and needed to spend it all before the end of the year. money well spent in deed👏👏

I know I am all late and wrong to react to your late reaction to one of the greatest, most epic, "award show performances" BUT, I just love how authentic and genuine you are. This the first performance video I watched of them last year when I was a baby Army and it is STILL something I spaz about every time I see it! They are truly iconic, royal, gods among men! Now then, continue your ranting, commenting and unabashed love of BTS cause I am here for it all day long!

They just said they’re doing a forty min set this time lol. They technically only did five songs….just one of them had seven intros 🤣🤣🤣
Right?!! I like to say the first four songs are the warm up, the seven intros are the pre-show, then Dionysus is main show. Totally insane! But I guess if you are going to rep Greek gods, you'd better go all out. We're so lucky!

@@AmariLeone no but really! They have been pulling this trick for years they did a 20? Min set (it was between 25 to 20 mins) the year before with “3” songs that also had extra songs/stuff thrown in. Give BTS an inch and they will make something epic. US award shows just aren’t ready still.
Yes I love this performance as much as you. When I first saw it I was floored. Watched it over and over. I mean there were HORSES!! FYI Some parts were prerecorded. There is a behind the scenes if you'd like to watch it. Dionysus is a very hype song!
I know right! Horses for the win! The only way to follow up this performance is to come in doing a windmill on the back of an elephant lol
you see a single light come down from the sky each time a member is on stage. it's all part of the story. it's from a greek myth.

Thank you. I was hoping someone already typed this all out so I didn't feel I had to. :) Also, didn't each individual represent different Greek Gods (e.g., Suga - God of Fire, JK - God of Water, etc.)

Each year they got more time on stage and the performance got bigger. I don´t think any other artist were given so much time. This is almost like a BTS concert, heheh. Every solo moment was spectacular and Mr. President just comes walking, hahah, he need no more. His presence is amazing. Impressive that I have seen this performance A LOT of times and I didn´t catch that not only Suga but 2 other fell from the sides. Spectacular
Aide has freaking elephants on stage. BTW, Jin and Jimin KILL in this, and they are all amazing! Dancing and performance art classic, and then sing? HOW!????
They had an All Kill at this awards show, winning ALL major awards. I saw this performed live (there were no horses). But they did this followed by Not Today. No break.
finally getting to this one. The Awards shows can go up to 6 hours the shortest one I have watched is 4 and that was during the pandemic, the longest was closing in on 7 hours, not every group gets 40 minutes, but they usually have a couple of bigger sets.

40 min set is not normal at all, its a bts exclusive thing lmao, usually mama/MMA performers get around 5 to 10 min maximum. Since bts has been carrying these shows for over 5 years right now, they let them do their thing

iirc bighit got the girls from a modeling agency? I think?? it's been a few years obviously 😭 but yeah they have no reservations about hiring people from anywhere really. they have korean backup dancers but they also work with the lab frequently when they're abroad so they don't always have korean backup dancers. they have a close relationship with sienna lalau's crew (she choreographed dionysus)
also fwiw the bit with the horses was prerecorded! no horses harmed in the making of this performance lmao

I'm pretty sure the reason why this performance was so long was because for some reason the other three major companies in Korea were boycotting MMA, so they needed to fill in the time slots that were missing from the groups that normally performed. So because of that BTS was able to do a longer performance

Each one of the members represented Greek gods. I have watched this many times because I always like to see reactions of those watching it for the first time. I hung in there with you through the pausing and the rants because I wanted to know what you thought of it. You will have to watch MMA 2018 and 2020. I like 2019 over the other two. 💜
One of the sad things about K Pop is that fandoms become toxic against each other. Once it started becoming obvious that BTS likely was going to win multiple daesangs, the other two largest groups started finding excuses not to be present in what they deemed a coronation thus not triggering their fans by the sight of those groups sitting watching BTS. This opened larger performance windows as those groups would have been expected to perform. So yes in 2019 the absurdity of their absence became an absurdity of an enormous performance slot for BTS. 4th generation groups now are getting more time which as much as I love BTS is a more appropriate solution than BTS throwing its own concert.
So that is why the performance was so long! I always wondered ...

3months too late, but there was a fan video back when that performance was new. As soon as the lights went out in the end, you could see the boys literally fall out of their chairs out of exhaustion.

If I remember correctly they closed out the awards. I think because they won most of the awards that year that their wasn't many other performances. I think TXT performed and my favorite K-band N.Flying (the ones in the audience that you thought looked familiar) won the award for Best Band that year for their song "Rooftop". I know I have recommended N.Flying to you before but I don't think you've ever reacted to them....or I missed it. They cover a lot of anime and game songs, which is why I recommended them before.
I haven't reacted to them before but maybe I saw pictures of them somewhere. They definitely looked familiar to my brain lol

I wanted to say that I really like your line-up here, especially your picks for Jin and Suga:
Some lists have Jin as Ares riding in on a war horse, but Ares has bloodlust tacked onto his god of war moniker, and Jin just doesn’t come across as bloodthirsty in any way (I think his evilest deeds are his dad jokes and puns). On the other hand, I’ve always seen Athena with wisdom and heroism coming before war, and Jin is definitely a good guy who is smart.
I’ve also seen Suga listed as Hades on lists, and while Hades is actually more of a neutral god rather than evil, Hephaestus seems like a better fit for Suga. Hephaestus was the god of fire, but he was also the god of artists and creators, and Suga has definitely crafted many works of art.

So no one followed BTS and they are always so extra. They paid themselves for all the extras stage stuff etc. hundreds of extras costumes etc to basically tell the whole damn industry who treated them so badly that we are gods above you and every bit of this performance is symbolic in some way to Greek myths and/ or our careers. No one else can do what we do. Even small details like Tae being Apollo god of wind and having the arielists in the air above him and Jimin as his twin Artemis and they each wore one earring of a set as the “twins”. They firmly said no one can do this on our level. They also took home most of the awards including the first time someone at MMA swept all 4 grand prizes and 5 other awards and a song Suga produced won too so they were not given a break all night. The whole show is 4 hours longs so their 40 mins was a lot.
I am watching you for the 1st time and it will be my last man you talk more than showing the clips do let talking you don't have to speak on every little thing they do please
