I always come to your channel for indie/pixel recommendations and this does not disappoint. I have a few of the games here but I'm installing and bookmarking ones I didn't know about. Awesome list!
I feel like there is no sense with doing tier list and putting everything on B-S tier. it's like rating movies only on a scale from 8 to 10, the scale is from 1 to 10 for a reason. The list should also be a reference point, if we have 20 games in the S, A or B tier, let's just divide each of these tiers for 2 different ones, because at this point this film is not a tier list but a long recommendation list that cannot be trusted because everything is "very very extraordinary"
See I disagree completely . This is not an objective tier list nor does it make any attempts to be. It's a tierlist based on personal enjoyment, there's no reason to look so far into it. Besides, Clemmy said it himself at the start of the vid. He's a pixel games enthusiast. There's nothing wrong with him finding something that he likes even just a little bit about every game out of 100 (which isn't even a comprehensive list of all pixel art titles so it makes your point even more moot).
@@zaknafein254 what's the point of creating a tier list where everything is great? As I compared, it's the same as being a review company that rates everything only on a scale of 8 to 10. So several games bought. while several others were added to my Steam wishlist. I hope this video becomes popular enough for you to consider making other tier lists (rouge likes, card battlers, turn based indie games, etc.).

Astral Ascent was done dirty , that game is masterful , some of the best boss designs , clean and varied combat , beautiful stage art & setting. Your bias towards minimalism & slow paced gameplay shows a lot.
I was confused about that, too. He originally said he was rating by gameplay and pixel. Some games that were lacking in the gameplay department made it to a s tier list, and I left looking like 🫠🙃. Suprised Astral didn't make it to at least A tier.
@@AlbertoMonroy-lq2vw It is a lowpoint of the game, but imo the masterful aspects of art and most things in the game make it worth wading thru those clunky design choices. Definitely not a B tier item.

I do love how nothing drops below a B since how a game looks and feels in terms of pixel art is definitely a matter of taste. I myself like the more intricate pixel art games that fall into rpg and tactics like sea of stars and chained echos, but also games that are more minimalist like Dream tactics and any rad codex game (Voidspire, Alvora, Horizon Gate, Azalea, Kingsvein). I also do like the cute pixel look into more metroidvanias so Rabi Ribi and by extension Tavi from the same dev. There is just so much for anyone.
What a great video! Just bought 4 new games off the back of watching this (and quite a few of them were on sale on Switch, bonus). Best Indie Games is easily my most favourite gaming channel on YT now. I would personally add in Signalis and Norco, they're not top tier necessarily but worth a look I reckon
I think you were a little harsh on astral ascent while some of the characters animations are blurry it does have some of the most stunning and beautiful background and stages of any video game I played also dead cells should be S maybe it's not true pixel graphics but I think it's way better than games with generic pixel graphics like sea of stars a lot of indie games now go for pixel art but even if it was gorgeous like in sea of stars it won't stand out for a lot of people if weren't unique or a bit odd like dead cells And of course Balatro is S+ simple but masterfully executed

Ok, I need some help. I think it was one of your videos. I'm trying to find a game, which is 2d pixel, NES like, takes place in a dungeon, is a platormer, 3 playable characters, where the mage/sorcerer is yellow who sold their souls to the devil in order to re do the dungeon, and his friends, which are red (maybe archer) and blue (maybe knight).
Iconoclasts was the game that brought me into Metroidvania (by far my favorite genre by now) and it has the best pixel graphics of all games I ever played, in my opinion. It also sits on place 2 of my best graphics overall ranking directly behind Hollow Knight.
Not much point using a scale from S to D if it really ends at B. I ended up just jumping through to see what you would consider below a B level after the 1/4 mark and didn’t really watch the rest.
