love seeing the hand gestures. the right hand is like the moderator and leads the talk, while the left hand is the supporting speaker. you're right-handed
I wish I could sample all these IEM’s to understand what makes a company put a particular price on their monitors. Within reason, one could surmise that A 5 driver IEM truly shouldn’t cost $1800. 5 drivers should cost up to $500, 10 drivers, $1k-$1.5k, above 10 drivers, $1.5k-$4k
Especially if they are simply i,ple, enting and tuning sonion or knowles drivers or an other-manufacturer-sourced, rather than proprietary developed drivers (which at least distinguishes companies like Final Audio - which make fascinating, unique sounding iems IF you like their very Japanese, company sound - or 64 Audio, for example, whereby the exorbitant costs can partially be explained by how much it costs to develop one's own drivers). I guess companies like Elysian do the expensive-cable 'improves x or y' snake-oil as well. But paying that much for what amounts to great out of the box tuning of the same drivers used in iems that are 1/4 of the price does not make sense to me. Especially once one realises what can be done by applying EQ to very inexpensive iems like the Crinacle Salnotes Zeroes so as to squeeze out the sound that best suits you... let alone tuning higher quality iems that take tuning well. Be that as it may, I do have a handful of expensive iems from Empire Ears (I love the Weapon IX DD driver), 64 Audio and other brands. But the funny thing is I have wow tuned iems from brands like Kinera with well implemented drivers that are 1/10th of the cost of the similar Empire Ears models that readily compete and even have better quality bass, though not rumbling sub-bass quantity. That last 2% 'advantage' is extremely diminishing in cost ratio with iems. I very much doubt, apart from personal preference, that no other monitors are beyond 90% of these in quality. Each to each: that is what keeps this interest alive and edgy!
The Apostle has better bass, treble, detail, separation, and soundstage. Tuning-wise, the Apostle is a bit bassier, and the Volume S has slightly more relaxed treble.
I personally own the 622b and have demoed the Apostle and compared the 2, they have different tuning, 622b is a mid-centric IEM with awesome bass-shelf boost to complement, while Apostle is more balance throughout the frequency range. 622b resolves better but Apostle comes very close, Apostle has wider stage but 622b is higher and deeper. Personally, I still prefer the 622b stage cuz it's very holographic, probably the most holographic IEM I've ever heard (I haven't heard the Storm/SupremeV3/Fugaku yet, these ultra TOTL IEMs might possible be even better in this regard but that remains to be seen). The imaging and instrument layering is even more surgically precise with the 622b too. Ofc, 622b is more expensive, so Apostle wins in terms of "value" here.
@@damtran993 Thanks so much for your excellent answer! Hearing the 622b was an epiphany of the relative importance of the transducer. It revealed the flourishes of artistry on the leading and trailing edges of notes throughout the frequency range, I had just not experienced with any other iem, hp, speaker prior, and this played back through my humble hiby r6pro! Does that resonate with your experience damtran? Does the Apostle have any of that ability? 🙏✨🙏
@ no problem brother. And that's one perfectly articulate interpretation to describe the character of the 622b, I completely feel the way you describe for sure. Its mid-range is nothing like any iem I've tried and owned, so immensely resolving, detailed and yet so emotional at the same time too, and the bass is also one of the best too, the implementation of the BA & BC driver combination to handle the bass actually works wonder here. If there's one thing to truly nitpick, I would say it's the treble not extending to the optimal point that I want (not lacking per se, it's just that coming from the Annihilator, which I also own as another complementary treble specialist to my 622b, it might feel that way hehe). The 622b is relatively easy to drive despite the driver configuration, so your Hiby R6Pro can drive it well, though I would strongly recommend feeding it via a desktop dac/amp stack and let the 622b magic amplified even further mate. My setup to listen to the 622b is the Gustard R26 amped with the Burson Soloist 3xp to drive the 622b to its maximum capability. Regarding your inquiry regarding the Apostle, personally, the magic that I felt with 622b, can not be replicated with the Apostle, simple as that. Ofc, this is not to rain on the Apostle's parade, the IEM by itself is a banger at not just its price point, but I would dare say at any price point too, all the hypes surrounding it are justified to a certain extent. It's just that the 622b to my ears, is genuinely that special and magical in the way it presents music. Basically, it's THE keeper IEM for me, if I were to only keep one in my collection.
How do these compare to EE Odin ? Which has the better clarity, which one takes the edge on technicality side, and which one sounds more real-life like ?
How are you perceiving MORE detail with such a huge 4k dip? These "new" EST are intriging to me. They are my favorite high frequency driver and I wonder what we are going to see this year implementing these new drivers. I am holding off on the THIE Valhalla. Going to be another exciting year for IEMs!
The 4kHz dip looks bigger here due to the deeper fit I used to bring the 7kHz peak closer to 8kHz. With a shallower fit, the dip is less pronounced. Check squig.link for other Apostle measurements. These new EST drivers are great, hope to see more of them. Thanks for watching!
Hi Axel, Nice review. If I knew that the Apostle would come out a couple of weeks earlier, I wouldn't bought the Aful Cantor and saved for these. What a disappointment, the Cantor! These are ticking all the boxes that I look for in an IEM.
I haven’t heard anything that sounds 90% like the Apostle, but there are a lot of great IEMs under $500 that are really impressive and fun to listen to.
@@shareclipsave The Glacier is awesome. It has less bass overall, but still good bass, and the vocal clarity is spot on. There’s a bit of an elevated upper midrange, which might not be for everyone. The detail is great too, though the Apostle is even more detailed.
The CP622B is another fantastic IEM. I remember the vocals being more relaxed, but it still has that end-game level of detail and soundstage. I’m not sure how it compares to the Apostle in terms of detail, though as I am just going off memory here.
for $1,800 it better put out the goods....not sure why you would spend that much just to tickle your ears while you can do the same with a $150 IEM or an $80 one
Because you can’t do the same at those prices. Sure they play music, but not at this level. Some people find it worth the money. It really is a big difference in audio quality
@@Gizaudio Yeah, I miswrote...I already went over your video a couple of times back'n'forth and knew you compared them :) My question was actually about what would you choose between the 2 and why?
@@MihaiCristianPetrescu That's a tough one. I really love the presentation of the Anni 2023 as it's just more fun to listen to. That said, the vocal and instrumental clarity on the Apostle is fantastic. If I had to pick one, I'd probably go with the Anni though, just because the tuning is so unique and enjoyable.
I thought it has very good dynamics and range, but phase response and much of the timbral range (estimating below 1,500Hz, and above 5,500Hz) was maybe 2-3 out of 5. I sent it back- did I just get a bad unit?
Where do can I see you EQ settings for different IEMs? I saw your settings for Tangzu Wan'er on a reddit comment but I want to know where or what video/site did they get it from.
I think if an IEM is over 1000USD, it better be worthy of 5 stars. (EVEN IF I WOULD NEVER BUY IT BECAUSE I'M NOT RICH AND WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO AFFORD IT 😅).

Hey Axel, btw Thank you for the IEM RANKING list.... amazing work as usual from you. 👍🏻 big kudos
Thanks for checking it out!
Looks amazing!
I love Elysian. Thanks for the review. Excited for this one! I pre ordered from musicteck 😍
Nice! Hope you enjoy it.
You should really try ISN EBC80 and compare the two.
I’d love to hear the apostle, and am an owner of the EBC80
I’ll try to check it out.
Elysian Dio and Fugaku is the true 5 star 😈.
IEMs aren’t the supposed to be affordable in comparison to headphones?
I will be at CanJam NYC in a few weeks and I will give these a listen
Thanks for this
Glad you enjoyed it.
I know its like 6x price difference but how would you compare Volume S with this since both of them are pretty vocal forward and warm
The Apostle has better bass, treble, detail, separation, and soundstage. Tuning-wise, the Apostle is a bit bassier, and the Volume S has slightly more relaxed treble.
How does this Apostle compare to the CanPur CP622B?
That’s the one to beat or equal for me 🙏
