    Hi, I'm a retired PA and a T2DM patient. I'm on victoza. I like it a lot, the only side effects I'm experiencing are heartburn and abdominal discomfort 3 hours after i eat, perhaps due to the delayed gastric emptying. These side effects are far more tolerable than Metformin side effects. Good video. Thanks.

    I have been prescribed this type of med to counter act weight gain from other medications I have to take. I am hoping it also helps lower my inflammation levels (help with my allergies and asthma especially) .

    Prior to gastric bypass surgery at the end of January 2022, I had a prescription for Tulicity, one of these drugs that the video discusses. Prior, I was on 106 units of Toujeo (long-acting background insulin) daily, and Humalog for correction and for the number of carbs I ate whenever I ate. Since surgery, I no longer take any Toujeo and use the Humalog only for correction of my blood sugar prior to eating, since I'm consuming very few carbs anyway. In your practice, do you advise patients to continue using GLP1 receptor agonists immediately after gastric bypass or is there some point at which you advise patients to resume thing them? I would like to ask my endocrinologist about continuing to use it to lower my set point.

      Yes, typically I recommend continuing with GLP-1's as long as possible. Talk to your doctor about it.

    Do you know if tudca can interfere with GLP-1 medication? I am 8 weeks into GLP-1 ( 8kgs lost) but my GP knows nothing about tudca

    I read somewhere that they protect from bone loss that occurs as a result of weight loss. Is this true?

    I took the quiz and didn’t indicate that I have diabetes or pre-diabetes and the results say that I’m a candidate because I have diabetes.

    Could you get a prescription without diabetes? I’m having a sleeve to bypass conversion and my surgeon says he doesn’t see patients loose more than a 100 pounds. I tried looking into the SADI surgery but, my surgeon doesn’t recommend it because of my acid reflux and hiatal hernia. I’ve lost 20 pounds on my own, and hopefully this would be another option for me.

    Why is it a slow weight loss process for women with PCOS taking glp 1 meds?

    • @apoundofcure
      @apoundofcure ปีที่แล้ว

      People respond differently to these meds - some lose quickly, others more slowly. PCOS is usually not a major factor.

    The black box labels have me concerned , rats got cancer , so if you have history of thyroid types of cancer in your family don’t take. I don’t have such a history but sounds scary, I have taken many meds and have never seen a cancer warning. I would love to try this meds such as mounjaru but the label scares me

      Stop giving medical advice, you’re not a trained and licensed physician. If someone wants to consider a prescription drug, let them talk with THEIR physician.

      There are zero recorded cases of semaglutide treatments causing cancer in even a single human subject. Zero. Don't panic people. The water you drink every day is probably as much or more carcinogenic.

      Only a family history of medullary thyroid cancer which is a specific rare thyroid cancer. Please note, no human has ever contracted cancer from this drug which has been prescribed for 10 years now. Read more and scare people less.
