Not advocating for invasion of privacy, but I wish Maria had given someone the thumbs up to record the visuals of the performance. The surviving clips are incredible. I believe a little more exists of the later La Scala performance. Thank you for the video! Deeply appreciative.

This is a great remastering, well done. The bass is rounded and present without clouding the higher frequencies. The overall sound profile puts me in mind of the Florence recording (my favourite), but this way clearer and more sonically rounded (and dynamic!) with tighter highs. A big improvement over my sad old Melodram vinyl set, which sounds scratchy and flat at best.

Do you, by any chance, have a video of her, very obscure, singing the last words as Medea? I swear I saw it somewhere, but can find it anymore.

Thank you for posting this incredible recording. Listening to Callas and Vickers here is like listening to thunderbolts of notes. I bet they managed to shake the entire theatre over and over again.
Wow, Vickers voice is almost as big as Callas.
It’s matter if was nearest to the stage mic that recorded the performance! But Vickers had a Big Voice!
@@OperaMyWorld At this point, he probably had the bigger voice. Though still powerful, Callas's voice didn't have the same power after she became thin.

Με τον Jon Vickers είχε τραγουδήσει και στην Επίδαυρο, νομίζω το 1958, ή 1959. Μού αρέσει που βλέπω το όνομα τού μεγάλου, αλλά ξεχασμένου πια Νίκου Ζαχαρίου που ήταν ο πρώτος μπάσος τής Σκάλας 15 ολόκληρα χρόνια.
Να είσαι καλά, φίλε μου και σού εύχομαι σ' εσένα και τούς δικούς σου ΚΑΛΕΣ ΓΙΟΡΤΕΣ.
Τραγούδησε τη Μήδεια με τον Vickers στο Νταλλας το 1958, στο Λονδίνο το 1959, στην Επίδαυρο το 1961 και τέλος στη Σκάλα το 1961 και το 1962! Εύχομαι σε σένα και σε όλη σου την οικογενεια Καλές Γιορτές! Με υγεία!!! :)

For what it’s worth, Callas’ musicality shines here and demonstrates what is sorely lacking in the pretenders to the throne. Add to her musicality is the complete commitment to the characterization.
Glad to see that Medea is on the boards again with several important singers taking her on.
