for anyone that isn't aware, this is a destiny's child song recorded in 2000 for their third album survivor. bey decided to re-arrange the background vocals around 2-3 years later for her solo debut album of the same name. and yes, although bey is the obvious lead since she was the song's main songwriter and producer, both kelly's and michelle's voices are present, singing background vocals during the chorus. michelle is doing the higher harmony, kelly is going lower - you can hear it specifically when they repeat 'in love' after bey :)
She never re recorded It. It’s the same exact vocals on both tracks. The only difference between 1 and 2 is the piano. The stems of Kelly and Michelle are turned down in version 2 but they’re still singing the BKVOCALS.

@@punpum906 I think Kelly just has a strong upper register. In the early days of DC, I think she used to sing lower than she'd prefer or was comfortable with. I suspect it's to sound like Bey. There are a lot songs in early DC where they sound alike in the harmony but where Bey is comfy singing lower, I never got that from Kelly. Keep in mind DC3 used to switch parts in the harmony all the time and Kelly never was the lowest note in any of their harmonies.
