    I just left you an amazing long comment about our power going down tonight for three hours and all due to another crazy storm. Then I lost the whole comment. I cannot type it over Paul because I do not have the time to do so. But lets just say that I am digging the same drop as Vinyl Rich. I really liked the Psych Freaks. A cool band name to boot. Always dig the FJS. Thanks for delivering some more drops and artists Paul~

      Hey Rob. Sorry to hear your first comment got lost. A lot of people like the Psychedelic Freaks album. Happy to have put it on your radar. Since yesterday over here there is a lot of talk of the possibility of the power going down. And how we should prepare for it. Strange times we live in. Wish you a vinylious weekend. All the best. Cheers. /Paul

    Fantastic description of the Oyr album, I would have felt that same sense of unease but not thought of the Alien movies 😉 good thing you followed it up with something more familiar and funky to put us back on this planet! Quite like the sound of Dina Ogon, a very feel good kind of vibe going on there. Heard of the Kibrom Birhane album I think from a Soul Jazz Records email a while back, very nice to hear new music from Ethiopia. Psychedelic Freaks intriguing as well, cheers Paul!

      Hey Doug! Don't play the Oyr record at night :) The Dina Ogen album is real fun, a fresh positive groove. I feel the Psychedelic Freaks can cross over to different genres, very much like the early seventies electric period of Miles Davis. Have a great weekend. Cheers. /Paul

      No surprise you like the Psychedelic Freaks :) It references right back to Miles electric period. Also around 1972! All the best, Lis. Have a great day. Cheers. /Paul

    Funk Brother #1, Psychedlic Freaks reminded me of early 70s Miles Davis. I need to check that out. I love Coastal County, someone sent me that album. Always some wonderful albums to check out , thank you Paul

      @XjunkieNL  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Steve! You're 100% right. The Psychedelic Freaks go completely in the direction of Miles electric period. By the way the name the tune is To The Funky Valley. Will you join me? :) Cheers. /Paul

    Wow some real interesting albums to bookmark here! I like what i hear from the 3 first ones . E Lundquist and Dina Ögon sounds amazing , yes you are rigt, it means "Your eyes". Øyr I never heard of before, it sounds interesting. Your pronunciation was decent, but not quite it, lol. The Frans Elsen album Norway, I had to check out, the tracks are mostly name of small Norwegian villages , and Top Secret sounds very good!. I look forward to catch more of your latest videos :)

      @XjunkieNL  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hej hej. It's funny how some Swedish words translate directly to Dutch. Dina Ögon could be the spelling of a local dialect :) Norwegian on the other hand sounds completely different. The liner notes mention that most of the songs on the Frans Elsen album are written in a little cottage between Hamar and Lillehammer. Thanks for stopping by. Cheers. /Paul

    Great picks as always Paul. The Boris and Tristen album sounds interesting. I think you'd like a band called Move78. They're a great band based here in Berlin.

    kibrom birhane is a sweet one. i guess there's a certain vibe and melancholia to ethiojazz that will most likely always sound exciting to me.
    the øyr album makes me think you might wanna dig into the catalogue norwegian labels like hubro music or probably even sofa music and probably discover some interesting things in there as well. also early klimek might be interesting or even the more collage'esque vibe of the 'ekkehard ehlers plays...' series, let's say 'ekkehard ehlers plays albert ayler' and releases from that era.
    dina ögon i'd classify as a proper easy listening x exotica album from what i hear. interesting for cocktail parties.

    • @XjunkieNL
      @XjunkieNL  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Great to hear you're also a fan of the music of Kibrom Birhane. The is something special in the vibe, that is different and fresh. Thanks for the tips. The album of øyr is not something I regular listen to. But it's a nice way to reset the ears ones in a while :) Exotica, that is the right term, I wished I thought of it before :) Thanks for stopping by again. Cheers. /Paul

      @@XjunkieNL i've got a thing for guys like mulatu astatke as well as other things released in the ethiopiques series so there's no wonder why kibrom birhane strikes a chord with me.

    Hi, Paul. I got my hands on distilled water, finally (from a computer store) and mixed 2-3 % iso. Using those 100% cottonpads. Now I regret cleaning my brand new records. They just sound worse with lots of static. :(
    Why can't they just sound clean without static? No, they didn't have static before cleaning, but I wanted to the dirt off, fingerprints, that came from the factory. :(
    I've tried three different tests of how long they needed air-dry. After 12 hours: static. After 24 hours: static. After 36 hours: still static.

    • @XjunkieNL
      @XjunkieNL  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry to hear, you got so much static. Is there a specific reason you only added 3% isopropanol? I would go to at least 25%. How much force did you put on record while cleaning? With the isopropanol added you would need very little, only to distribute it over the record (especially if it is a new record). /Paul

    • @rabarebra
      @rabarebra ปีที่แล้ว

      @@XjunkieNL The 3% Isopropanol was your suggestion. 2-3% you said earlier. I also found your suggestion and amount of iso very little.
      "How much force did you put on record while cleaning? " Very little pressure.

    • @XjunkieNL
      @XjunkieNL  ปีที่แล้ว

      Aha, I see were the mistake comes from. That amount is specific if you want to use isopropanol in an ultrasonic record cleaner. /Paul

    • @rabarebra
      @rabarebra ปีที่แล้ว

      @@XjunkieNL Ok, why would anyone use Iso in a Ultrasonic? That sounds absolutely idiotic. Between me and you , we always discussed manual cleaning.
      Next time, I'll be more specific even if I post under a video within the theme.
      I tried 25% mix today, will check the result soon. It is just the air-drying time I'm waiting for, but I guess it will dry much quicker this time?

    • @rabarebra
      @rabarebra ปีที่แล้ว

      @@XjunkieNL Now I used mix of 25% iso, and it static is even worse than ever before.
      I will advise people to NOT clean their records. This is just plain stupid. Why clean records and get them in worse condition than before?
      The problem must be the isopropanol.

    Why don't you like color vinyl?

    • @vinylrichie007
      @vinylrichie007 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is hard to see scratches and where songs start.

    • @XjunkieNL
      @XjunkieNL  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Paul. If I have the option I will choose black vinyl. I did a video on the reasons why. Here is a link to the video th-cam.com/video/QWKJXUojsq0/w-d-xo.html Cheers. /Paul

    • @rabarebra
      @rabarebra ปีที่แล้ว

      Black is also color vinyl. PVC is actually clear. There is a difference between splatter-vinyl and ordinary "color" vinyl.
      Many of my best sounding records have other colour than black, but I don't think it is because of the colour, but the quality of the PVC itself.
      I can list:
      #1) Vangelis Blade Runner by Audio Fidelity (red), and now recently #2) Red Hot Chili Peppers Canteen album (violet vinyl)
      Both sounds crystal clear, and man, what a sound quality. They are also flat as a pancake.

    • @vinylrichie007
      @vinylrichie007 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rabarebra At this point almost all PVC is good quality. The actual pressing process of the vinyl has much more to do with the quality.

    • @rabarebra
      @rabarebra ปีที่แล้ว

      @@vinylrichie007 Well, I find their splatter-vinyl very noise opposed to the single color vinyl. (talking about the same factory here e.g.).
      I don't agree with you that the PVC of today is so fantastic as you say. Almost none of them match the quality of my old Decca records. Especially most of the SXL- series.
