if Pep doesn't extend his contract it makes sense for the club to wait to appoint a new manager to do the next rebuild rather than buy players to suit Pep's system and style of football that a new manager will want to discard to form his own squad. The squad does need an influx of new players as some are injury prone and others aging Pep should decide now whether or not he's going to extend or leave and not wait until before Christmas otherwise we will be in limbo for next season
Agreed. But at the same time, who can blame Pep for leaving with 115 hanging over his head & the news that we're not signing any new players? The owners are to blame here
The wages are getting out of control, and I am one who generally thinks the players should get more.
This fantasy warchest that was supposed to be ready to use was just an urban myth then
To be honest, I do not understand what Manchester City wants to do? I left out the Premier League, it's our league, we'll win the Premier League at the end of the season anyway. But there are other competitions, in which, this same squad cannot give high level competition to other European teams.. Other European teams are building Galacticos... And what are we doing? If we don't go for Jamal Musiala now, I don't think Musiala will be available next season... Not just the attacking midfield, we need someone to look at the defensive side too.. What happened to the management of Manchester City? What is the reason for such a decision?
Agree with your assessment of competitions outside the PL, but where I will differ with you is the PL as I think if we do not strengthen, the probability of us winning the PL a 5th time drops dramatically, especially if Arsenal strengthen even a little. For me, we won the league in spite of Pep and not because of Pep. This is a very odd thing to say, but when you look at the suicidal high line Pep played with, full well knowing just how vulnerable we were at the back, we got lucky. We conceded 133% more goals on the counter than the season before (the treble season), we had the worst defense in the PL against the counter and we conceded more goals and had fewer clean sheets with 6 PL games to go than we had in the entirety of each of the preceding full seasons.
Given all that, Pep still refused to adapt his high line and I think that shows just how well we did in spite of Pep rather than because of him for this season. Love Pep, he was off it this season, from the high line I discussed to sacrificing Foden in the middle for Alvarez well after Julian showed he was more of a detriment than a positive to the team in the middle, to playing wingbacks when Walker simply cannot play that and Gvardiol struggled all season until the end (remember, once Gvardiol got into the groove of things, the vast majority of counter attacks all came down the right where Walker was and yet Pep still played there when he could have dropped him back a bit or used someone else).
@@MCFCTheMadHatter I understand your point mate, And last season we are the worst team against Counter attack, in Europe's Top 5 League, Not Just in the Premier League. I think I was a little too biased when it came to winning the Next Season Premier League... But what happened to the management of Manchester City? What the hell do they want to do?
@@riju3820 Oh wow! I didn’t know we were the worst team in the top 5 leagues in Europe?! That’s even worse!! How the F and WTF was Pep thinking with that stupid high line?! It’s like the team won the league in spite of the high line. Love Pep, but he was def off it last season. Then again, so was the City board. Praying both get back on this summer and season🤞🤞
This football team is not capable anymore
It requires a refresh
Not just average players
Top players
Last season was a step down even
Next season will be a repeat of this season, how painful will that be. We need new players and fresh legs to win trophies next season.
We won the league, a 4peat
@SuperCityMCFC yes we did but we were poor for the better part of the season. We drew too many games that we should've won and we struggled against the big 6 apart from United. That cannot happen next season, our defense and attack needs serious improvement.
@DeviousDucky552 Totally agree. But I think this season will be worse tbh. At least we bought Some players last season. Sounds like the chairman is guilty to me 😞
@2239jules Last season made us realize how brilliant our treble-winning team was. If Pep plays the same line-up next season with the same tactics, it's over. Savio, Echeverri, Bobb, Lewis all deserve a start in our first team if we intend to win more trophies.
@DeviousDucky552 Pep thinks Rico is too small. Well he is small, but it's never seemed to bother him any. U're right. If we don't bring anyone in, Pep will be forced to use the young talent
I said during last summer's transfer debacle they were making big mistakes not addressing the huge gaps left by Gundo/Mahrez and not having any suitable coverage for Rodri. After which I said that I had lost confidence in the board especially when nothing was done in January. Closing out the season, I said I have no reason to be confident that City will address the issues left over from last season (praying that I am wrong), but given these reports, IF true, then my lack of confidence could be turning into a worry.
Not signing anyone is beyond stupid, it is suicidal IF we have any intentions of winning the PL or the CL. Last season's team was already weaker than our Treble team and now, if we do nothing, it will be even weaker than last season's team given we have no addressed the Rodri issue in finding him suitable coverage at the absolute bare minimum. I am hoping these reports are just nonsense, because if they are not, and any of the other top 5 strengthen, we will, by definition, have gotten weaker in relative terms
Is it possible that players don’t wanna come to City until all this 115 mess is sorted? Surely it’s a legit concern. That plus Pep’s future is up in the air.
I think that is a fair concern. But... contracts could easily have release clauses in them in the event City are found guilty thereby letting the players leave. I think it is more an issue of no visibility with Pep's future at the present.
The only reason why I can see us not sign anyone is because of that dumb “Financial Anchor” rule that Premiere League is trying to implement. If that rule stays our wage bill will be too high and we’ll be on the brink of breaching the limits, hence why I think we won’t be able to afford to make any top level signings. Especially considering the fact that we’re wasting significant amounts of wages on our failed signings like Cancelo and Phillips. So unless we manage to sell them or maybe even move Bernardo, Nunes or Kova on (which I honestly don’t see happening) it might be difficult to make any top quality signings. But I 100% do agree with Hugh that Rodri is reaching his physical fitness limits at this point, given the amounts of games he played over the past few seasons, and imo it’s absolutely imperative for us to sign someone of the highest possible quality to help him out in the midfield.
The board is responsible for signing useless, unnecessary crap like Nunes or Phillips, they should have taken responsiblity of these shit transfers and there is absolute zero. Spending £95m on Nunes and Phillps, two idiotic moves, was simply s**t.
Maybe they won't spend but I think at the moment they have to say what they are. They are currently chatting to the PL about how they have ruined our ability to compete in the transfer market by implementing rules that may break laws. They can hardly make a convincing point while splashing £100M on each and every player the want to add to the squad.
Don't believe that & Pep would agree to that, I don't think so.
If this is true we will regret to not find enforcements for a 1st team CDM, and LB. I hope this is not true. How are we the best team in Europe without a recognized LB? and 1 CDM and still have the smallest squad, but we have money??? Poor business!!!
But as along there's no senior player leaving but sincerely it needs someone to play number 8
They need to bring in some fresh new faces, what about injuries.we need some to back up for RODI before he drops from being wore out
I feel like Pep is just a mind game kind of guy. He'll shock the competition before summer is over.
Plus, new players aren’t gonna sign if there is uncertainty about Pep
i dont think there is anyone out there that would join to be a backup to Rodri. no one good enough anyway
Why should we sign any player while Many players have not been given chance we have players like Oscar bobb how need chance and also kalvin Phillips I hope something will happen to him we can make it happen to him
Right, right some deepshit flop who couldn't even play regular football for West ham will come back and play for city or some deepshit academy player will make this compete for titles,
@@nitinpatel1039Do you not have faith in the Manchester City academy?
I mean, other than Foden, who was given almost no pressure and tons of time to integrate into the Man City squad, why don’t Man City focus on their academy more?
Arsenal have Saka and Martinelli
United have Rashford, Mctominay, Mainoo, and Garnacho
Liverpool have Trent, Jones, Quansah, and Bradley
Since when were Man City above giving their youth talents real minutes in the prem?
@@nitinpatel1039How is Bobb "deepshit" ?

@@nitinpatel1039 He's 20 😂
No i think your wrong with that Liverpool reference! City already have done most of the changes! the squad is very young. Only Walker,KDB, Kovasic, Ortega, Carson older.
as far as i know ..i trust in our management.
you cant keep players like ederson and want to double plus his wages, without it causing effect elsewhere you then have perhaps 4 more wanting pay increase so less players come in. We could have serval on the books holding us back cancelo philips good wages stuck with plus add walker stones and kdb could regular be injured or lose a yard of pace we are 5 players down before we start
It's true because someone working with espn said so.. Why do people believe everything online?
Whom to believe this stingy shit board
It's come from ESPN I'm not sure how credible they are and with the transfer window just opening plus the Euros I'm not worried yet
Hugh and Joe are really like your Man city content
You need every penny to fight, the greatest fight u will ever have in court lol😂😂😂
This news doesn't fill me with a lot of optimism. It sounds to me like they know they're guilty of some of these charges & so they can't sign players knowing that
Morning Hugh
Not buying this report, i feel it's fake news. Club knows we need a help for Rodri, we need at least 2 xtra players and we still don't know whats happening with Kdb, Silva and eddy ... Nope we will be in the market this season, don't think pep if you want him to sign on for another season will expect this .
If this is true all pep and is guy's are doing is to leave city in a mess when they leave
Didn't we already signed Savio and Echeverrie??
Exactly
Both of them are young prospects that aren’t proven players at the highest level of the game. Plus Echeverri isn’t coming until January, Savio might not even stay, depending on his performances during preseason.
@@City-iD but who in world football would improve City, especially at cm?
@@danielmann316 a lot of players.
@@jacekmarczuk7718 name any realistic target that's able to do the Gundogan role, because that's the only thing we need at the moment... Realistic is the key word
It’s a smokescreen Hugh
sell a few buy a few sell no one do not add
we will get a couple new signins, dont worry
115 charges update?
Facts bro keep spreading the truth 🔥
I don’t think anything of those comments, last season outside of the Kovacic deal we had pretty much done by the UCL final time there was comments from journalists about City being content in the market and not necessarily needing to make any moves and the whole fanbase was up in flames about new players after a long treble season. It’s nonsense to me lol. Every year it feels like fans think “this club lost its ambition” when comments like this come out. It’s like day 4 of the window. I’m sure there are targets lined up even with all these crazy rules now in place. And doesn’t help to have links that we are gonna drop 100m on Bruno and shit when we in a legal battle this week over sponsorship money. There will be signings as there is every year. People doubted Txiki last year that he was on his ass and then he came out with Gvardiol with 0 add ons and a preseason friendly match as an incentive lol let’s give it some time guys
Yeah, £95m on Nunes and Phillips. Excellent business.
@@jacekmarczuk7718 Philips was a whole year before they you autistic bum
@@jacekmarczuk7718Philips was a whole year before that so idk what your point was there
@@basedkirby_2604 if Rodri will be obliged to play the whole matches from A to Z, it's a massive incompetence from the board, but they don't care at all about transfers.
I’m wondering if they are starting to plan for this ffp thing , if as I expect a points deduction is given they won’t win the title anyway and the players they are left with will not get relegated , and then we go again this season after clean slate , if found not guilty this squad should be good enough to get top 4 again we go again this season after with a clean slate
It actually makes perfect sense to me 👍
Interesting thesis, but IMO very untrue. The problem is that City is spending a lot of money on players wages and they have a limit in the squad. Moreover, the players, that they would love to sell, are unsellable: Cancelo, Phillips. They have made a mistake with Nunes. I think you are overreacting a little bit. I think that some players agents are not believing City is innocent, so they don't want their players to go to City. You are overreacting, if City is innocent, and they think they are, they are innocent.
@@jacekmarczuk7718 As for players, at least new ones, simply having a release clause in the contract allowing them to leave if City are found guilty will remedy any issues from bringing in new players. As for the wages, we have to remember, that like LFC, our wage structure is heavily linked to competition success. Is it any wonder why during our treble season our wage bill was the highest its ever been? If you look at City and LFC, the seasons we both won multiple trophies, especially the CL and PL, the wages for that season are substantially higher.
As for FFP, I think City are a bit too worried about their image and spending money like the 9-figures for Grealish. We are currently wearing the Scarlet Letter and it will never go away as long as we are winning competitions. I say we embrace it and extend a big proverbial middle finger to the rest of the world and buy whomever we want and damn them all about the image
@@MCFCTheMadHatter I don't think so. I think you are too worried. City should show the middle finger to the league, especially red cartel and do what they want.
They have sold Torres, Sterling, Jesus, Zinchenko, Palmer, Mahrez, Laporte, all academy not to have money for Guimaraes? C'mon xD
@@MCFCTheMadHatter They have spent £95m on shit like Nunes and Phillips and nobody is taking any responsibility for that.

Ahh alright . 😆
Big up Hugh great work rate 💪🏽
Cheers mate!
Is not a good move
You're going down 😂
WithPep leaving will player's want to come to City now ?
That won't help us that is for sure. A lot will depend on who City go for once Pep leaves. If we are cleared of the charges and get a big name manager in like a Carlos A or even an Alonso, we will be fine and lots of big name players will want to come. If we are found guilty, then it is a different ball game depending on the severity of the charges and the commensurate punishment. There is certainly a lot of uncertainty in the next 12-months and it could most def be beginning to play out now...
You guys r fake man a true city fan would like to see academy players come through Mcatee edozie and Liam Delap. Grealish and haaland was not what I wanted
What you waffling about?
Hugh, Txiki, Ferran and Pep don't care about your opinion. They don't care about any opinion. It's going to be negative, arrogant and complacent.
For me it's a time for a new sporting director. Sorry, but being reactionary non stop and very passive is not a solution. And City is very passive for me.
@@jacekmarczuk7718fair opinion

I can’t believe those news felt disgusted really feels like arsenal moves signing no one we need more signings to compete with Real Madrid last season was too close for comfort and feel the age of the team warrants some fresh business also just to keep improving sadly seems to me pep, tixi, maybe really near the exit door and it seems they don’t want to go too heavy in the transfer market
It says to me that Pep isn’t extending. The club aren’t gonna spend a fuck ton of money if a new manager is coming in.
