Awesome as always Rick and Jamie !!!! Enjoy every video brother !!!! Yall are awesome !!!! Reliving the years of my life !!! Watching those old classics !!! Hope yall have an awesome day
I was a cable tech. in the army, and what we use to do was put axle grease on a rag and then run the cable through the rag as you rewind. And you will find out that the cable will last alot longer.
Once you find the cure , the problem always goes away ! . Man that will be my new choice of thought of the day right there !!! . definitely some wisdom here . Thanks Rick .
I grew up around a slightly newer version of this, 3/4 ton . I don't think the fenders were tiped to a point at the headlight im not sure now. The wheel wells were In the body. It had a strange v6 reliable as can be and had its own sound. Memories
I always carried 4' long hardwood 4x4. You tied it to the frame in front of the front spring hangers with a small chain or rope or if your j-hook chains were long enough you used them. It beats having to put a front bumper on. I towed for a salvage yard with a wrecker and a large Louisville rollback for 24 years. Watching your story brings back memories. Paul
The tow bar doesn't go under the bumper. That's a good way to create slack and have you J hooks fall out if that's what you're using. Plus you run your chains to the hooks in the top of the sling before you lift it. The chains are supposed to hold the weight of the truck, not the rubber.
My '53 Dodge needs choke like that on a cold start. And the carb is rebuilt. I think i has more to do with the mechanical fuel pump than anything else. Love the videos.
+StinkySQL Sixpence Well...that tow truck has a new home now and the owner bought a carburetor from me to rebuild, so hopefully he has it all sorted out now. I agree though, those old mechanical fuel pumps had issues. Thank you, -Rick
Well. that wasn't my property...and I was moving my trucks off that rented storage space....so, no I didn't feel a need to put in a drainage pipe or change the landscaping.
I hope you're in business in a few years when I can look for a 57 Step side. I only need a 235 with a 3 or 4 speed preferably. Hopefully they'll still be this side of $10k then for one with cab corners.
A CLASSIC classic truck rescue video. Hope the new year brings nothing but GOOD to you guy's. Before any names. Hey Rick what happened to that FUNKY hat? Kind of a German look.
my good friend is building a 1955 chevy truck and he needs a pair of decent front fenders. do you have any for sale that you can ship via grayhound? they can be a little rusty and while any old color will a green would be preferable. as long as there not way overpriced money isnt an issue.
Is this the truck that you built into Buddy? Buddy came out GREAT! Also, I did see Jamie very briefly in this video. Y'all are a genuine inspiration to me. It's truly awesome to see how you've been blessed since you made this video a few years ago. Today, I was telling my dad about y'all and teared up a little bit when I told him about the video where Jamie got baptized. Which one was that? I want to show it to him!
Yes, but all Napco 4x4 trucks can be put in neutral....Keep in mind that a rare, automatic (Hydramatic for GMC and Powerglide for Chevy) wouldn't have neutral in 2-wheel drive versions, but the addition of the Napco 4x4 package would enable neutral via the transfer case. Hope that makes sense. Thanks Fer Watchin'. -Rick
So just curious so the second clutch to run the winch takes place of a PTO now a days and it's coming from the transmission? Manuel truck and needs a clutch for the winch just confused me srry
No, just one clutch. Transmission in neutral, then engage PTO....now the PTO acts like its own gear in the transmission. Then when you engage the clutch, it turns the PTO, just as it would normally turn whichever gear the transmission would be in if it weren't in neutral. Hope that makes sense. -Rick
He showed you. He did a proper hookup at 17:25. There's a chain with a large J-hook. You hook it to the axle/suspension/frame. At the bottom of the sling there's a small chain-hook welded on, hook the chain there and loop it around. At the top of the sling there's another chain-hook, hang the excess chain there. Done.
+Andrew Brenneman That particular Tow-Truck is now at home with a very good friend of mine in the Netherlands. My Current Tow-Truck, Homer (and the one I intend to keep) can be seen in some of my more recent videos. None Of my tow-trucks are ever 'For Hire', but they do go rescue other old trucks and sometimes lend a hand without seeking payment. Yes, we are in the Mulino area. Thanks Fer Watchin' -Rick
I could tell you were on the "wrong side" of the Cascades by that white cue ball tan on your head! I live on the sunny side of the mountains and do have a 1957 1/2 ton Napco in Sandstone Beige. Got life by the b***s huh? Just kidding but you know how us Oregonians are.

+Classic Truck Rescue My mistake. On my first comment I kinda came off a little condescending and I didn't mean to. My apologies for that. In all fairness I don't think anyone hooks up those slings right the first time. Didn't mean to irritate, only educate.
I understand. I end up doing a lot of things out of necessity that I don't really have a lot of experience with. Its all good my friend. You were right. -Rick
+Classic Truck Rescue I know all about that. I kinda do the same thing you do but you find cooler stuff. I'm 28 and I've been towing and flipping vehicles since I was 14. I just love doing it just to see what I can buy or trade for. I've seen more than a few of your videos and I swear I can't figure out where you find half this stuff. You definitely have a gift for it.

aren't the wheel dollies also used for vehicles with 4x4 if you cant put the transfer case in neutral?

how does it works with the rubber flaps on the back of the tow truck im 3D printing one but i cant seem to figure it out
Works good on old vehicles with big, sturdy bumpers.
