Enjoyed this video, just like all your other videos. I wish I could be a backcountry pilot! The attitude indicators on the CJ6 are in reverse color, which makes watching the AI while you maneuver a freaky experience.
You know right where the wheel are! Thanks for the video. Do you come up to the USA from Costa Rica often? In the Cessna 206, the whistle sounds comes from the two airvents on the leading edge of the wing. We call them "flutes" as and they audibly whistle at high angles of attack, being heard clearly at slow airspeeds. Think a pan flute or a coke bottle that you blow across the top of to make a noise. This happens on both VG and non-VG equipped planes that I have flown.
Great videos! Are you concerned about eventually damaging the engine mount/firewall from the nose gear in such rough terrain? Good stuff. Juan-Nevada City, Ca.
Just amazing, as usual. Just one question, if I may: The HSI seems to be different on the Nanchang, half brown on top, half blue on bottom, just the opposite if compared with the one on the C-182. Why so? Regards from 🇧🇷
Backcountry182 thanks. I have a 172xp with a 6 cylinder Continental with 195 hp and 40 degrees of flaps max. So I’m sort of between a 172 and a 182, does your 182 go to 40 degrees on flaps? If not do you think you would use 40 or 30? Thanks I enjoy your videos
Looks like you keep a bit of power on prior to landing, and sometimes increase power a bit just before touchdown instead of a little backpressure on the yoke. Does this help with anything? Great vid.
Hey Larry on windows 10 i use the windows movie maker soft ware and when i get ready to pick my music and listen to it before i pick theres no audio.Have you run into this problem? The only way I get it back is by wipping out the entire time line and starting over which is time consuming and frustrating.I read that this program is for windows 7 but works with 10 with these glitches.Do you maybe suggest another program that is more compatible with 10?thanks ,,, your videos are always fun to watch on my big screen tv.
AxCYeR, A 2 blade is used up to about 230 Horsepower. Notice the propeller on 100 to 200 HP engins usually get longer and wider as HP increases. The longer propellers will have very high prop tip speeds. Also you have ground clearance issues with the long propellers. So with more powerful engines you add another blade. Sometime you will see aircraft owners changing (so-called improving) from a 2 blade to a 3 blade on an aircraft to increase climb performance. This change most likely will decrease top speed a few M.P.H. / Knots. Then more power means more blades as in 4 blade up to 5 blade. See the MU2 5 blade upgrade. Hope this helps.
I would thumb up without this stupid repetitive electronical noise you claim to be music that gave the headache for 5 minutes before ending... Let us hear the reality of the sound of what you are presently doing "in front of us".
Your accuracy and timing is impeccable. Bravo!
Great instructional videos from “backcountry 182” love them!!
Every time I watch you land one word comes to mind: Beautiful!
Great speed managment, you know where the wheels are going to touchdown,Textron Cessna should pay you for the advertising
You mean great Alpha management. Speed is totally irrelevant.
Truly make me jealous of your skills. Coming from a tarmac pilot. RESPECT.
I love the longer video! Thanks for taking us along.
Interesting and fun video. Thank you, and happy and safe flying to you!
Awesome video and impressive aircraft control!!! Keep 'em coming, really good stuff! Safe skies!!
They won't show you all the crack UPS
Great video.
That was a truly awesome video Larry. I love it!
You are the master of this 👌
One of my favorites from you. Great work Larry!
Brilliant video!
Great video. Nice stabilized approaches. Can really hear the whistling as you said
Your 182 is beautiful. I’m a 172 lover 😉 what I grew up on flying.
Amazing piloting
Wow this is your best video so far !
Outstanding!
Impressive, especially for a tricycle gear aircraft with non oversized tires.
He does have oversized tires, as he explains in one of his other videos...
Me encanta su trabajo, me gustaría volar en WA y practicar esos aterrizajes en lugares improvisados. Saludos desde CR
your videos are truly amazing . thank you
Really cool hearing that!
Please teach me how to land like that! Can you talk or show about throttle management on short final and just before touchdown. Thank you, great job.
Fun to watch a 182 handled as if it were a 185 😂
ghost airplane in the rocks at 2:32! yeeehaw!

Short of landing on an aircraft carrier I can't think of any other more challenging and exhilarating way to land.
GREAT video!
Class! Nuff said.....CLASS!
Calidad de video capi!!! como siempre
Hot Diggity Dog seriously cool skills sir. I hit subscribe

BEST landings ever!
2:32 cool rock layout. Any information on this?
It's the shadow of where the rain didn't hit the ground because the plane was parked there. Wet rocks vs dry rocks.
Ok thanks
Ese cessna 182 es el caballito de trabajo
I would love to go flying with you!
Never thought a Cessna can handle such angles of attack during final :-)
Crazy old man
Здорово!
Great videos!
Are you concerned about eventually damaging the engine mount/firewall from the nose gear in such rough terrain?
Good stuff.
Juan-Nevada City, Ca.
Yes , this is why I try to land as slow as possible.
Lindimais!
Great Great! won 1+ follower!!
BRAVO !!!
I’m looking at putting them on my Glasair II TD. Will it effect cruise speeds? How do you know where to place them?
they come with a template, wont affect cruise speed, check microaero.com/
I miss flying :-(
Just amazing, as usual.

Tes, its a Russian design, adopted by the Chinese, dont know why they use it like this, kind of confusing.
Where in Costa Rica is that?
What flap setting do you normally use? I know conditions dictate but in your videos the flap setting appears fairly consistent
Shane Gorman Most of the time full flaps unless it is real windy.

40 degrees in my plane
Is that a jet A fuel you use

Yes , I am so slow I help with a bit of power on the flare or else the plane will sink.

an aviator i use windows 10 and no problems here, have you tried re installing it.
@@motoadveBackcountry182 no have not but a good suggestion ill try it.thanks
Is that a HUD screen on left dash? Thanks.
Looks like an Angle of Attack (AoA) indicator, most likely one of these: sarasotaavionics.com/avionics/valkyrie-hud-kit
What is the powerplant for the C182?
what's the difference between a 2 blade and a 3 blade prop? why is a 2 blade suitable for bush flying?

@@wms1650 yeah, thanks, it helped!
In my case even I have 280HP, I prefer the 2 blade because of light weight.
where is the whistle???
wondering what the useful weight is on this aircraft to handle this guy's giant fucking balls
Looks like Darrington. 1S2
How much is cruise speed and fuel consumption affected when using VGs on 182?
Nothing, no negative impact in speed or fuel economy.
Where are flying? That landscape looks amazing. All the best!
Washington,state, Idaho and Oregon
3:38 flying stones...
Love to follow your flying adventures. Do you fly bush planes also?
Shouldn't worry about forced landings when you see what's actually possible.
Very solid point. Stuff like this really opens one's eyes to just how many options are available if you have to land in an emergency.
@@SilentWolf486 I guess, but landing with slipstream is quite a bit different to power off.
what is vg means?
Vortex generators
There are some good explanations on google and youtube. 😎
I hope his insurance company doesn't watch this!! :P
Needs a STOL kit and a power boost...then watch the f@#% out!!
Impressive. I just want to know if his wife goes with him ?!
LOL only on paved strips.
Just don't waste a inch of Runway ever
Some of these landings.... 😬 I can imagine some of these are at high elevation.
Nice vid check mine out on my channel an add me !!
Absolutely risky. A 182 is a passenger aircraft, not an experimental aerobatic. You will crash !
