    Everyone tackles self-isolation differently. Dave's way was to put up a makeshift isolation booth in the corner of Haltech garage and wire a car! We figured it was a great opportunity to vlog the entire process. Of course, given the recommended social distancing rules he would have to do it all himself... It took a bit of convincing but Dave finally agreed.
    Welcome to Dave's Wiring Vlog - in all its raw beauty!
    In the first episode Dave introduces the car/engine he's going to be wiring, talks us through all the tools he's going to be using and then starts the harness prep by separating all the different wire groups.
    This is a rather long episode so if you want to jump to a particular section we've included a few shortcuts below:

    Stay healthy! Maybe Haltech should issue a wiring toolkit complete with a manual describing different tips and tricks and enough connectors, wire ties, and wire tape -excreta that a person in isolation could wire a complete car without needing to make trips to get more stuff from a hardware store or specialty shops

    And for the love of everything holy. When you use cable ties/zip ties, USE FLUSH CUTTERS TO CUT THE BLOODY TAILS OFF. I can't count the number of times I've shredded myself on cable ties in an engine bay that have been cut off with a pair of side cutters leaving a very rigid, razor sharp point on them.
    Remember, be kind to "the next guy" because "the next guy" will probably be you...

      @Tom-xn7zc 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      HP Academy for sure! Having my doubts about Haltech since he showed the pvc electrical tape. It's unbelievable how many so called 'professionals' solder wire connections and use electrical tape which will either fall off or become a really sticky mess when the car gets a bit warm. Also on TH-cam you see it happening a lot on very popular channels.

    Ryan Basseri and Zac Perston did a monumental job teaching the course and they straightened out the birds nest logic. I am glad i took their classes. One question i have with haltec.
    Why not supply pre cut wire or a spool…like txl wire is cheap. This wire will confuse dumbos even more and if their plans are other way round they will chop these up. Everyone will have a pair of crimpers anyway.

    I will be using an elite 2500 and a Haltech LS2 harness for my engine in my project. I was thinking about using a Deutsch bulkhead connector to run my wires through the firewall. Maybe a DRB connector or similar. Is there an issue splitting the harness to run through a bulkhead connector? I would run the shielding from the shielded wires to a grounded pin in the connector.

    • @nathan2483
      @nathan2483 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haltech it’s not traitor, it’s just financially pointless. A Cleveland will achieve anything that LS will. That’s not a purist perspective, it’s just facts. By the time that conversion was completed, it has burnt a LOT of money. Money that would’ve built an even more insane Cleveland. Then there’s the engineers cert and rego.
      LS to replace Holden v8/Rover V8 et al, yeah no worries. Those engines just won’t make the power without bulk cash.
      But the Cleveland is still one of the best small blocks ever.

      And? I mean I'd prefer to see the barra in there, but overall this would be less work as you don't have to cut the bonnet up to fit it as barras are pretty tall. Plus the owner probably wants V8 noises and to piss people off. Can do both with this
