With the push to digital versions of games it was inevitable these type of stores struggle to adapt. I remember when I was at school in the early 2000s used to visit some small independent game shops which giants like GAME put out of business . What goes around comes around eh
Beer and now video games. 2 of my favourite thing. Was never a fan of Game (used to work in indie's and Gamestation) but as a gamer it is disappointing to see it's decline as the only really Game shop of the high street. Great content, keep it up.
We had a Gamestation in Pompey for many years as well Lenny. Also a couple of independent shops. Sadly we have lost the lot now. Online and downloading has ruined it for me. I miss my spectrum 🤣🤣
I am not a gamer as such, but my first childhood memories of computer games was Manic Minor on a Commodore64. Other than that, when PC's got more popular, I did like the Doom series developed by ID Software.
Sad to see, used to love the trade ins and pre owned games. Had a spectrum as well, back when games where a lot simpler to play and you had to wait half an hour for them to load 😂
Shops within shops is becoming increasingly more popular now to try and get the foot traffic. You’ve now got Argos in Sainsbury’s and Iceland in the range. I’d imagine this is a pretty desperate attempt to try and make Game as profitable as possible now with high street rents and utilities being so high 🍻
Been killed by people downloading games and game pass , it's a shame really. I miss the days where u would buy a game put it in your box and play away. Now it's all downloads and hassle
What a sad state of affairs. Gone from the highs of midnight launches, all the hype and fun. To not even trading in anymore, it's just a glorified toy shop now, so sad.
Dont really remember GAME in my megadrive days. I used to go to electronics boutique and HMV back then. Plus some local stores. Associate it with later consoles. Still, shame like you said.
We had two or three in Portsmouth. A lovely little shop called Computer Choice was terrific. And the other ones name escapes me I shopped in there for all my spectrum games back in the day. What a sad world we now live in mate.
A shame to see but GAME has been a glorified toy shop for quite some time. Used to enjoy the store, doing pre orders, trading in old games and having a good chat with the staff. Even the odd midnight launch for games like GTA were great fun. Digital downloads although convenient are boring and souless. I think the next console generation will be all digital only.

@ScottReviewsThings Me and you are about the same Age buddy. It was an Amstrad for me 😂🤣😂

So. I had a spectrum Gary. So we should be mortal enemies 🤣🤣
Doom was brilliant back in the day. Used to scare the shit out of me

Have you seen the new spectrum Paul? With 48 games loaded. Those were the days. Proper games. None of this graphic rubbish we have now 🤣🤣🤣
😂😂 the games now days take weeks to get through! I'll have a look at the spectrum, bet it brings back good memories.
Remember queuing up for the next big release...streaming and downloading has killed Game off unfortunately
Used to go in Game all the time to get my PlayStation games and accessories. Cascades used to have a decent range of shops, not anymore sadly.

You make some good points about shops within shops and I hadn’t thought of those others.
@ it’s without you even noticing mate. Costa and Greggs are in Primark I think Peacocks are in Morrisons. More will follow to save money
I see also some Toys R Us have returned in WH Smith.
@ Exactly !! 👍
@@benny1161 Nope for Peacocks in Morrisons. Its Claire Accessories that have stands in Morrisons. My Son works for Morrisons

Yeah I was probably lost in the nostalgia. I used to pick my Megadrive games up from a little shop as well. 🤦🏼♂️
@ScottReviewsThings true Scott and all those shops have disappeared too. Scary really. Cheers

Its owned by Mike Ashley. He is trying to save money so cramming as much into a space as possible. In fact he dont want stores as they cost him money.
