Thanks for your comment. The appropriate shallow angle and approach are outlined around the 7 minute mark. Both myself and my colleague demonstrating in the video have performed many thousands of cannulations and thus the technique above is appropriate. Of course every time one cannulates a patient one adjusts to their veins but, with the exception of ultrasound guided cannulation of deeper veins, I always recommend you take a shallow approach.
Going in too steep. If they have tough skin you will go through it.
