As a Bangladeshi, I always support my country and everyone does. Bangladesh's fanbase is very big in cricket. They can beat any team on their day. Among the 3 versions of cricket, Bangladesh's comparative success in 50-over one-day matches is high, while the condition of the remaining two formats is quite poor. I have been watching cricket in Bangladesh since 2000 and now it is 2024. To tell you the truth, Bangladesh cricket has not progressed the way it was supposed to in this long time. In between, Mashrafe's leadership from 2015 to 2019 was the best period of Bangladesh cricket and the best achievement of Bangladesh cricket was becoming the world champion of the U19 team in 2020. Since then, Bangladesh cricket has been going backward day by day. Can anyone tell me why this is happening?
Perhaps the Bangladesh Cricket Board is the 4th richest board in the world. I think there is a lot of negligence in their work with the players in this country. After Shakib, Tamim, and Mushfiq, they could not prepare any good player, and Mahmudullah, Shakib still has to be trusted for the victory of the team. If this continues, the name of Bangladesh may be lost in world cricket. Leg spinner Risaad and Tanzim Sakib are the best of Bangladesh in this 2024 World Cup. Apart from that, Mustafiz, Taskin, and Tawhed Hridoy played fairly well and all the rest were flops.
Modern cricket is not only played on the field. No good game planning was seen in the game of Bangladesh, overall good game analysis is needed to win the current game. Bangladesh is far behind them.
In the current coaching panel of Bangladesh, except for Spin Bowling Coach Mushtaq Ahmed and Pace Bowling Coach Adams, the others seem valueless to me. In their place, good-quality coaches, analysts, and consultants are needed. Bangladesh Cricket Board probably does not understand the demand of modern cricket.
Skilled and good-quality coaches and field facilities are needed at the ground level to cater to young cricketers. And domestic cricket needs to be made more competitive. Domestic coaches are ready, game analysts are ready, and attention will be paid very soon.
Bangladesh is not even close to the speed with which Afghanistan and the USA have adapted to modern cricket. Bangladesh has to prepare for the future and prepare the newcomers, not only in Bangladesh but also in Sri Lanka and Pakistan, similar problems are observed in cricket.
