  • It was a rare phenomenon to be able to find such a player who'd fit in to play as an excellent wicket-keeper as well as a fantastic batsman during the 1960s. That's when Farokh Engineer came into the Indian Cricket's family tree. Discover more about one of the hard-hitting batsmen who also guarded the team with excellency by positioning himself behind the stumps only on Mid Wicket Tales with Naseeruddin Shah.

As a matter of interest, why does Dwarkanath Sanzgiri switch between his native language and English like that?

aap se ek ghalti hui hai kunderan aur engineer se pahle bhi india ke paas ek aisa wicket keeper batsman tha jiska naam dilawar hussain hai thoda research karleejiye naseer bhai, aap toh apne role nibhaane ke liye jo preparation karte hain uske liye toh mashhoor hain aur is episode ke liye thoda homework hi karlete, anyway that has nothing to take away from engineer. bus hum toh inke aakhir dinon me jab woh indian team se nahi khelte the magar mafatlal group se khelte the tab dekha hai hamaare paas madras mein ek tournament hota tha jise Buchi babu trophy kehte hain magar suna bahut tha aur kuch kuch photos bhi dekhe the.
yeh mushtaq ali ki jalayi hui mashaal ko aage le kar chale jise phir bade dinon baad shrikant ne phir sidhu ne phir sehwaag ne jalaaye rakhi thee aur ab rohit , shikar aur mayank leke aage badhrahe hain aur inshallah aage lejayenge hamaare jawaan ladke prithvi aur gill aur aane waale sabhi- here i am talking purely on the basis of openers so dont get confused readers.

His inning against WI is most memorable one. He scored 95 before lunch and score was 120 without loss of wicket. He scored century in first over after lunch. I don’t think I ever saw that sort of batting against WI fast bowlers , those bowlers Hall ,Grifith , Sobers were far superior to what we saw later. Remember there were no helmets nor restricted bouncers in an over either.

India had at that time two of the finest keeper batsmen in B.K.KUNDERAN AND FAROOQ ENGINEER both deserved to be in team as they excel in both batting and keeping But unfortunately Kunderan was a victim of circumstances as he was denied of playing for India despite his phenomenal show .At the same time one can not but admire Engineerfor his great keeping and batting .When Indian batting during those days was brittle against genuine pace attack both kunderan and Engineer should have been in the team But the selectors thought otherwise and ruined cricket Another victim that I could not justify was the treatment meted out Salim Durrani the most unpredictable genius allrounder

Budhi kunderan was a batsman, he was never a wk, but was asked to take up wicket keeping by Lala Amarnath..... Whereas Engineer was a proper wk batsman.... So budhi was a batsman who later became a keeper because lala amarnath wanted him to take up keeping....

How a novice like Nasiruddin brought into compere on cricket? Weakness for glamour world makes very little sense. Enough has been pouring out exposing the stinking life style of तथाकथित celebrities in Bollywood.
Naseeruddin has shamelessly exposed his misplaced fears of being a muslim. But continues to stay here in luxury. Once adored actor has fallen from grace for exposing his jehadi mentality.

Bro, he's not lying, fast bowling back then was far superior, forget going back to 50-60 years just look at the last 10-15 years, Everytime someone bowls any where near 150 kmph(90 miles an hour) everyone involved in the match jumps up and down, but he is referring to the legendary period of cricket where West Indies had a crazy bowling line up and then they didn't have the tech to measure speed
