    I moved to the US at 21 years and I am now old in my mid-60s and what I learned within a few years is that the US is a state of mind. It gives you space and it's up to you what you feel in that space. I love it here.

    America is tough especially when you come here as a mature woman or man. I left a project coordinator job in kenya which paid me very well all because of love. Came here got married I got two babies. I did my CNA certification and I have been working when my hubby is off 16hrs shift a week. I enrolled in a community college and am almost done with my pre requisites and next year I’m ready to enroll for RN . Imagine my kids have been growing my first baby is going to pre k 4 ….. and my youngest will still be home untill he turns 3 to start pre K . Sis why I’m I telling you this In America we don’t look for what we like to do but what makes sense with our family dynamics . You can look for something else to do or rather go back to school. If you have a bachelors degree look into jobs in cooperative world.

    • @adventuresofmarie

    • @adventuresofmarie
      @adventuresofmarie  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Truth is I am not keen on remote jobs. Being a new immigrant here and wanting to catch up on the system and learn fast being out there is helping me more than choosing to work from home so it's a very intentional decision for me to want to leave the house and go to work. The pass 3 months I have been so exposed and learnt so much something I know I wouldn't have if I was just in the house behind a computer. If I was in Kenya then yes but being a fresher here being outdoors benefits me more

    That’s the same thing they do when you go for interview they give it hopes that they’re gonna give her the job and she said she have a full-time job and a zero contract hours to turn to me and says zero contract is not good for me , and she said they’re gonna give me the full-time okay? I said yes they asked me when I can start. I said any time I asked me how far I said just down the road from that company is just a walk in this town, which it was so good, I was so excited this is the Shaka, the next day they ring me I’m gonna tell me all but but but it’s only zero contract they have they give the next person them the job before I want to give me zero contract never you take a zero contract hours when they give you never you go on a temporary job because you don’t guarantee they have people already and they want to fling all around girl run for the best thing

    I just learnt that in Oregon we have daycare at night .we have daycare on Saturday too but private soo definitely that's expensive. I work night shift and hubby work day shift his schedule is strictly 8 to 5 can not change ,so am forced to work night and be a mama during the day.

    • @adventuresofmarie
      @adventuresofmarie  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You guys are lucky. I have done my research in the city we live the only day are that operated at night ran out of business you can imagine why😥 Saturdays you strictly do a baby sitter or a home ran daycare. You definitely have to do what works with the your family dynamic so I have to be the one with a straight schedule coz hubby’s schedule changes every week. It's challenging but very doable. At the end of the day these kids will grow one day but the sacrifices will be all worth it. Keep up the good job mama. Staying home is def not for everyone even if I got the perfect opportunity to stay home I still try to look for things to do while in the house because I just cant be doing mommy and wife duty my whole life with school papers I laboured and my parents had to sweat to give me you know

    A lot of people come to America 🇺🇸 with absolutely no clue as to what this country is all about. I immigrated here from Kenya 🇰🇪 in 1986 into middle school in Florida.
    The President back then was Ronald Reagan, and he set into place legislation that changed America for ever.
    Having lived in America for close to 40 years, I think 🤔 I can articulate the experience with clarity.
    It’s important that you completely forget everything you know about life when you come to America 🇺🇸, because nothing will ever be the same.
    America will change you inside out. You will need a thick skin, and you will need to learn to adapt quickly.
    With a 5% unemployment rate, you can get a job tomorrow, however, getting the Job of your dreams is a different story.
    Save your money, buy a home, and start a business. May be then you can say that you are living the American Dream.
    This is a Journey!!
    All the best to you!!

    Hi, sorry for your job loss. Have you considered doing remote jobs? Those do not require you to be physically present in the traditional workplace building and tend to be more flexible in terms of work hours/days and gives you the freedom to work anywhere (at home, in a co-working space, in another town/country). Plus, the liberty to spend time with your son when he is not at the daycare. You'd also find time to create content for TH-cam. Think about it

    Why do people in the USA think taking care of kids is only hard there. I have had serious issues with my kids in kenya. Getting a house help these days is a massive problem. I had to take a leave (6 months) to take care of my first born. I quit my job to take care of my last born. This is a global issue. It is only easy if one parent is a stay home or works remotely. So stop the crazy idea thay it is easy here.

    • @adventuresofmarie

      1st of all Mickey wasn't born here we just moved when he is 3yrs old so for his first 2yrs I have raised him in Kenya. So I have the feel of raising a child both in Kenya and now the US. I share my experience here not yours. In Kenya I had it easy, I could comfortably afford even two/three househelps if I wanted to but USA nannies are for the rich rich even the native Americans most can't afford nannies. Daycare in kenya mnalipa $180(ksh 23,400) or more per week no it's way cheaper and most families can afford it, most families can afford nannies, kenya families help raise kids ata unaeza acha mtoto na neighbour. So no lady ukifika ground Western country ndio utajua raising a child in Kenya is way easier and affordable than in the western world. Kuzaa tu huko mko na mpaka free hosi USA kuzaa is $4000-6000 after insurance has paid or $12000 and above if you have no insurance. So don't think we are dummies when we share our struggles here, you maybe struggling in Kenya but if you are given this struggle you will choose your struggle.

Songle or married, a woman got to decide either to have and/ or maintain family or jave a fullntime career. Thays why sime women choose and orefer to remain single but with aiccessgul career that they can suffientky support themsleves and in xase they end up as single mother, they xanraise their children.

    What you did was the absolute right choice. I only wish to make an observation. I feel you've slightly misunderstood the agenda of gender equality. Based on biology, it's a fact that men and women can never be the same. Gender equality, however, mainly looks at civil rights as human beings....That said, please don't feel like the decision you made was based on gender. Rather, it was based on the role you play in your family as a married mom, providing supplementary income. It was the best decision because of the little one. There are many single women out here faced with tough decisions like yours every day, but took the option to stay on because as single moms, sole bread winners, the choices are slimmer. I salute them too, for their tough choices. Let's commend each other as women; we've come a long long way.💞💕💖

    Always remember the Lord is in charge. He is too wise to make a mistake. Whatever happens is always for a good reason. When one door closes, others that are better will come. They confirmed you first before telling you about the other jobs, they tried to box you in. Sometimes you have to quit a position because of the situation you are put in. Not much discussion because it is about them and not you. Don't think that men don't have to make tough decisions also. There are many couples who end up in your same position, the reason there are lot of husbands at home, while their wives work. Take your time, you can have your own business because of TH-cam if you grow it, while you are at home, others have done it. Remember Mikey is in a new country, and so are you. You all are still adjusting. Please please give yourselves time and everything will fall into place, the way the Lord wants it too.
    Can I give you a piece of advice as a senior person. Mikey is always your first priority. I realised that you accepted that job before you got Mikey into a daycare, that was your first mistake. Again take your time everything will work out ❤❤.
