Wow, an oldie but goodie. Very nice design he conjured up here. Puts most of the other diy trans jacks to shame. Thanks for sharing this.

I might end up having to change my torque converter on my truck, it's a 4wd and it sets up good. All I gotta do is slide the tyranny back a bit, I'm considering a smililar mod like this but i don't think it needs to be this adjustable. I'm considering 2x4's on wheels I don't have access to a welder.

so for any reason, you lift, tilt or rotate the transmission, that 8 inch bolt will slide down or on one side, then you will be left with the transmission resting in you arms? but i like the design.

I just built a new very simple gearbox lifter. It is very different. I just put it on youtube titled Gearbox lifter with counter weight.

Wouldn't it make the front of the jack too heavy and make it prone to topple?

+RojoElote hey there john does have some what of a background in engineering but not formally he is a mechanic but his brother is an engineer and they do projects all the time. he is also an educator and is very sharp he put this together because he need to sell the explorer and ran out of conventional ideas.
