I use the Hobonichi 5 year in tandem with my regular journal. Your video was very peaceful to listen to while I worked in my own journal. I actually really like the broken table, it gives your videos a nice esthetic but I really like the idea of adding a resin edge to it so you don't hurt yourself.
I love the Kokuyo cover too! It combines the best qualities of the Hobonichi (storage, size, durability) with the Traveler’s Notebook (modular system, flexibility, portability). It’s so underrated. That said I really loved some of the Hobonichi illustrators this year and grabbed some covers for myself. Love your videos, thank you!
Even before you utter a single word your beautiful, half of a wee table makes me smile ❤. About a week ago i had decided on (and bought 😂) my 2025 planner. After lengthy decision making and tens of video I finally decided on the Midori 1 day 1 page diary. I did consider Hobonichis and the Avec came close but still Midori tugged at my heart. I will have the Midori Professional weekly to accompany it, which means 2025 will be the first year i have two planners at a time. I look forward to journaling with you and other youtubers for the next year ❤
I use the full year cousin because i like to keep the whole year in one book. I don't take my book many places so it's ok that it gets heavy and bulky. Had I had a need for a to go planner I believe i would have an additional weeks to carry around. The feeling of having it all in one book trumphs portability for me. Thank you for a nice cosy journal chat ❤
Because of you, I ordered my first Avec and extra A5 memo books yesterday (Sept. 1) I am so excited!!! I have only used the Hon (a5 and a6) and the cousin and original full year - never Avec lol. I wanted it all on one book but then I wouldn’t want to use it once it got too full and I was always holding back to keep it from getting heavy and over filled. I don’t like super chunky books since they are hard for me to write in. I’ve had a grey Kokuyo cover for a few years and LOVE using it so I’m stoked to see someone else using and loving their Kokuyo as well. For the first time I did also order some hobonichi covers which is new for me. I’ve never used their covers actually even though I’ve used their planners for years. Last thing I ordered was an a6 English that’s just for me. I had six children (been married 20 years on September 4th!) and they like to look through the memory keeping photos and ephemera in my books like this. So I need a space just for mum! ❤ I excitedly look forward to your videos each week and I think I have now binge watched every video you have now. Considering coming back to TH-cam to share my journey. I left TH-cam after our youngest child passed away in 2021 so maybe a new channel. Thank you for inspiring so many of us to be ourselves in our planners and journals, for being so sweet and genuine in your videos. I love every minute of them!
@@TheCommonCorner thank you. I am very excited. I have watched you and many others using the Avec. It looks fun and productive; helping in getting things done.💚💚💚
Add on comment: do consider getting the wee table fixed ❤️. It’s such a darling little table and i can imagine having the cracks fixed in a Kintsugi style. Though i understand if that isn’t easily attainable or if it isn’t your thing. Anywho, we will all be happy with whatever new corner will make you happy 🌷
Seeing you set up the second avec for the year got me to put it on my list for 2025! It seems like such a nice reset in the middle of the year especially in academia. You get to leave the stresses of the old semester behind during the summer and start anew for the new schoolyear!
Oh what a good idea to slip a memo book in the back of a weeks if you run out of notes pages! I don’t like the mega weeks very much, so that’s a great way to keep using the regular weeks. Also, needing more space is very valid! Of course we love your little table, but do what works best for you! We’ll love any desk you have ❤
Love this video! I was watching it while washing dishes and getting myself ready to journal and update my planner. My favorite way to spend a Sunday evening. I like getting the Cousin for the full year so that I can refer to previous months easily, which works for me since I use my Cousin for both work tasks AND memory keeping. I actually prefer to keep both topics together. I bought a bunch of the Hobonichi release - from Yoseka. Excited to have it all arrive! I’m particularly excited for the Mega Weeks.
Well Autumn is my name but regardless, it’s always been my favourite season. I dislike extreme weather. My theory is that many of us who journal & plan are introspective types, which often means Introverts, which means indoor life, which means loving seasons that keep us in and cosy! 😂 I loved using the Cousin Avec this second half of the year. I’ve ordered a full Cousin for next year because bulk isn’t an issue for me and I love a chonky journal. Plus I plan & memory keep separately. I definitely wouldn’t have a full year if I had to carry it everywhere. Yay that Hobonichi makes Avecs! Thank you for sharing your thoughts 😊
Hi! I always look forward to watching your videos every weekend. I use a full-year Hobonichi Cousin Techo, and thought about using the Avec next year, but decided against it. I love having one book at the end of the year, and don’t worry too much about bulking it up. Have you ever watched videos on the channel named Ammie Y’all? She bulks up her full-year cousin like no one else I’ve ever seen, and it’s awesome! Ammie is a wonderful, down-to-earth person who has a fantastic sense of humor and really makes her book work for her. Anyways, I started out with Hobonichi using the full-year Cousin, so it has a special place in my heart. PLUS, the yellow/green color of the Jan-June cover for the Avec is NOT my aesthetic. 🤢
As someone who is very fond of Common Table 1.0, I shall say this: If CT 1.0 graduates to become your elsewhere table, so that you have a full writing surface inside once more, I think I could adjust. 😉
Oh what a wonderful way to start my week! I am also so glad you decided to stay in your current cover as a change of table and cover will be a huge adjustment in the community 😂 I kid of course, but have been tempted to try the same cover but in grey as it just seems so functional! I also ended up ordering that sticker book 😅 I can’t wait. See you Tuesday!! Xx
I have been using a full year A6 this year and the chunk is wonderful to look at, but not my favourite to deal with when writing every day. So for next year I am getting the A5 AVEC as well! It will probably be a challenge, but a very fun one! Your channel has definitely been a great source of inspiration and influence, and I cannot wait to try it out for myself. And wow, that sticker book is absolutely gorgeous! Such an interesting way to get to know more art and artists, I love that its all kinds of different mediums as well.
I really admire your ability to stay in "one book" (well, in the same system at least lol) for a year. I hop planners so much! I have not found anything that actually works for me. It might just be that I'm looking for perfection, even when I know it is not possible 🤡
Thank you for your lovely video. I wanted to mention that Midori sells clear covers for their notebooks separately from their notebooks, the codex and the one page per day. SO if your cover ever gives out on you, there are other options. 😊
I have an A5 Cousin. It mostly stays on my desk. I don’t put stickers etc. I use it as a Daily Memory Keeper. I did purchase an Avec A5 for 2025. This will be a weekly planner.
Another lovely video :-) I was in the original cousin in 23 and by mid November I was struggling to write in it, although the pencil boards helped. I went to the Avec in the a6 this year but for next year I'm back to the whole year in one book because I'd been thinking about the gingham hon longingly for months haha. I will figure out how to handle bulk later down the line. One idea I saw was to photocopy postcards and ephemera so it's a thin piece of paper going in the book instead of anything too chunky - so I may do that!
I'm also a neutral color enjoyer, haha. I'm still debating whether I should get a weeks with a print/pattern for 2025, but part of me fears that I'll get sick of it after a few months. So it'll probably end up choosing one of the dark single-color options.
I usually don’t order til October since that’s when they have a second release. Then again sometimes I’ll order instead in April, during the April release as I like the spring start.
I will have to continue with creating my “Fauxbonichi”, because after 50+ years of living with Sunday-start calendars, I just can’t handle a Monday-start. (I’ve tried, and it feels like trying to get used to wearing my shoes on the wrong feet.) If I decide to switch my “Fauxbonichi” from my little A6 memo books, I’ll likely switch to an A5 Hobonichi Notebook (like your common place books).
@@kj.mclean Ah I did not know this! What works, works. And I’m sure you have fun with creating your own Fauxbonichi ☺️ I also did not know that your memo books are A6! Intrigued to hear more about them.
I'm curious does the Hobonichi not sell out quickly in your area? Although I didn't want to order my planners for 2025 this early in the year, I felt I had no choice as the U.S. distributors sell out fast! Thank you for yet another lovely relaxing video. I love your A5 cover.
