  • This game recording was in pretty good shape, but like a lot of older games was drab with low contrast. Topaz was used to sharpen, upscale, and revert compression artifacts, while Resolve was used to correct the contrast and bring the color back closer to how it originally looked. You can see the before/after shots here -- imgbox.com/g/M... -- My thanks to Fort Knox and his Seahawks TH-cam channel -- www.youtube.co... -- for providing the DVD files for this project.

In a million years I never would've guessed that Lonnie Perrin (#33) was the Broncos' leading rusher in 1978.
This was the last of his 3 years in Denver. He split time with the Redskins & Bears in '79, and that was it. He passed away in January 2021 at the age of 68.

Great uniform match-up as the Broncos orange pants were great 👍 as they bought out the white jerseys a little more, and the Hawks uniforms were gorgeous especially under the Kingdome lights.

So great to see & yes the uniforms were beyond awesome in the 70s especially
What a lot of people don’t realize now is you didn’t see a lot of these teams at all unless they played against your local team or played on a Monday night.
As a 6 year old in 1978 I only knew many of these names & faces from football cards & some scattered highlights
but you knew everyone at the skill positions very well.
Growing up in PA, I would guess I probably never saw the Seahawks play at all unless it was against the Steelers or until they would finally get into the playoffs later on in the 80s…but everybody knew that Jim Zorn was a lefty & that Steve Largent was a star & that they ran a lot of trick plays !
You really only got 2 games a on most weeks plus Monday night where I was maybe allowed to watch the first quarter.
No Thursdays or Sunday nights for the most part plus the insane rule that lasted until very recently where you could not get the 4:00 eastern game if your team played a home game at 1
So thanks Dave for bringing all of this back to life for someone who was a bigger fan then…than now 🍻

You described my childhood. I was 6 in 1978. I had about 600 football cards and I had the stats, names and numbers memorized. I never got to see these players except in a couple magazines I saved up for. I was a Redskin fan but lived in Indiana. I got to see a lot of Bears and Bengals games. Got to watch the Monday night game until the halftime Howard Cosell highlights ended then it was bedtime.

    • @shanetrimble9265
      @shanetrimble9265 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Another thought. The limited viewing of these games made it so much more exciting. When I saw halftime highlights it was so wonderful. The NFL showed the Redskins Cowboys games to the whole country twice a year and when they did, I was in sensory overload. My cheeks and neck would get red and hot. My mom thought it was ridiculous.

@@shanetrimble9265 Exactly! You described it a lot better than me & of course those highlights at halftime were the ultimate must!
I was the same way where it was bigger than life. Having 2 older brothers, you were out in the yard pretending to be all of the guys on those football cards.
After church on Sunday was when we all would buy our cards & then bring them to school on Monday for everybody to see who everybody else got & then make the necessary trades with our doubles
Truly a more innocent time !

This game was in 1978, Shortly after the next seaso, I was flying out of the old Denver Airport when I passed by a restaurant/bar. I saw Craig Morton at a table by himself, sipping a beer. I had some time between flights so I went inside, said hello and told him I was a fan. He invited me to sit down, bought me a beer and we talked football for the next 15 minutes. Denver had lost in the playoffs a few weeks earlier and he was flying out to attend the Super Bowl.. I asked him why he would go to the game just to watch and he said that as a starting QB in the NFL, he felt a responsibility to attend and represent his team and that he went to every SB during his career, whether his team was playing in it or not.

I can't recall ever cheering for Denver in those days, as Oakland had always been my team. But what a game this was. It simply had everything. We all recall how good Upchurch was, but my oh my; what a return that was. He might not have made it to the end zone, but surely that return run is in at least the top 5 all time. And what an ending. I'm still looking for all my fingernails. Goalline stand as good as any and the missed kick; lucky penalty for 2nd try, then the victory. Epic!

Thanks again Dave for the Hawks games, there's so many on this channel, I gotta get around to downloading the ones that I haven't gotten a chance to download yet. Wow this was a great uniform game, I always loved the Seahawks uniforms in that Kingdome dimmed atomsphere, and Denver always looked great in orange pants, it's a shame they got rid of them after the 1979 season. I would've loved to had seen John Elway wear the orange pants with the white jersey.

This was the year after they lost Super Bowl XII to the Dallas Cowboys. They made it to the playoffs again in '78 but were defeated in the Divisional Playoffs by the Pittsburgh Steelers 33-10. It's a real shame the Broncos decided to abandon their orange pants after the 1979 season. I like the uniform combination.

Lyle Alazado, one of the greatest players of an iconic reference of his tempered demeanor on the field. Dut to his use of steroids, I can only imagine when dosing those years how time flew by fast as when users stop out of retiring from sport , caught by law, or health concerns regarding steroid abuse on organs of no choice but to stop use. During post steroid use, you can only relate on those users of regret due to present health concerns of time going by too fast to slow down one's joys of perspectives on retirement life.

why did the broncos get to spot the in between the hashmarks after the after the penalty on the seahawks at the end? the missed FG kick was from the left hashmark, and after the hawks penalty they got to re kick the game winner from the middle of the field. was that some weird rule back then ?
