Nice tutorial! A tip for using the sticky stabilizer: leave the cover paper on while placing in the hoop, placing in the hoop with cover paper side up! Once secured in the hoop, score the cover paper in the center of the hoop with a straight pin in an “x” shape. Lift the center of the “x” with the tip of the pin to remove the center of the cover paper, revealing the sticky stabilizer! This way your hoop does not get sticky!! 🎉
What a cute design! My OCD’ness really wants that seem line lined up with the center of the bow. Wonder if a placement stitch that ran centered from the top of the bow to the hemline would be helpful? Thanks for another great project! 🥰
This is so cute. Thank you for the free design and great, understandable instructions. I love Juju designs. Been buying them for years. I would love to try this on some jeans. I bought some sweatshirts thinking I would try this on the side seams. However, the shirts I bought have the uneven hem. I can't for the life of me figure out how to do this with this type of shirt. Guess I had better look for a different shirt.
Greatly appreciated this cute bow and all the pro tips! May your generosity be compensated in many pleasant and unexpected ways! We are all inspired by your creativity!
load stabilizer then use a pin to cut paper "X" in middle of hoop being careful not to cut all the way through paper backing and tearaway center paper of stabilizer leaving the sticky backing. That way the stabilizer doesn't stick to the hoop. Hope this makes sense. Thank you for the tutorial, very helpful.
Thank you for sharing this cute design. I hadn't used my embroidery machine in a long time and this motivated me to get it out and try this design on a Christmas sweatshirt. I used tear away stabilizer and glue basted the fabric to the stabilizer. Then I used the baste in hoop function on my machine to secure the fabric to the stabilizer. It worked perfectly. Great tutorial!
Would also help to flip the bow upside down so there's no risk of getting the back of the sweatshirt under the hoop - it'll be hanging off the front of the hoop (into your lap) instead of the back.
Thanks so much for the freebie! I'm thinking wash-away sticky stabilizer would work just as well and avoid needing to trim so close to the final satin stitching.
HAHA I just bought every single one of them I absolutely adore them!!! need more than just the bow and Christmas designs though get designing hahahahahaha!!!!
I have used BabyLock's brand of water soluble stabilizer (mesh, not the topper) in lieu of the tacky tear away...........then application of a damp sponge or cloth removes ALL TRACES of the stabilizer with no chance of accidentally clipping your satin stitch threads.
Hi! Thanks for the tutorial! I feel like I can try it now. One question, does the adhesive stabilizer gunk up the hoop or do I not need to worry about that?
what about using a wash away stabilizer?? I stitched out a different bow and used a cut away, then another using a tear away. Not happy with the results on either. When I do this beautiful bow, I am going to try the wash away. Hopefully this will look better.
@@tambravandal6386 A glue stick will hold the garment to the stabilizer. That costs a lot less than sticky back stabilizer and in most cases works just as well.
I like to use a wash away adhesive stabilizer. There is no end snipping to do that can cut into your outline stitches. It's a bit hard to find, but Amazon usually has it.
Thank you for this tutoríal, can’t wait to try it! At the end of the video you mention that people can post pictures of their projects. I didn’t catch if it was Facebook, instagram or another ???
You could use a water soluble stick tear away, too - Sulky Sticky Fabri-Solvy; or regular Fabri-Solvy with KK 2000 Temporary Spray Adhesive. Also, if you don't want your hoop to get sticky, you can hoop with the stabilizer on and score the stabilizer with a pin and peel it away from the area you're using.
Because we create our designs with "color stops", yes. The machine sees the first thread color, stitches it, then stops and waits for a thread color change (which you don't strictly HAVE to do, you can still use the same thread color if you wish).
Nice demo, but I hope sticky stabilizer has improved. I used it a few years ago, and had problems with build up on my needles, then my thread would break, since the build up affected the needle eye, also.
If you align the point at the top of the tack down stitching with the side seam won’t that center the bow? It looks off center with the top of the bow off to the side of the seam line on the garment. I think I’ll use a glue stick to secure the garment to water soluble stabilizer. That will cost a lot less and once the stabilizer is washed out the bows won’t be so rigid and stiff.
I still can’t download the file. I know your site is overwhelmed, but I’m also having a problem getting a sound on the TH-cam instructions. Does it have sound normally?
Please be patient with the website. It's been SUPER hot! Try clearing your cache or refreshing. As far as the sound, that is definitely something on your end. The sound is fine and clear. If you have trouble with downloading please email support@designsbyjuju.com for assistance.
My heart was in my throat as you removed the hoop from the machine. Every time I do that, it loses alignment and it’s a disaster. Thanks for the tutorial.
Are we not going to talk about how the top of the bow is not centered with the seam? At first I thougt it was a placement error for the one that was being demonstrated - but they both turned out that way.
Uggh, you lost me when you skipped the step to get the full bow outline. I get why you did it, but now you lost me. Okay, got all notes written down from doing this myself, pretty simple design. thanks
Two things. First, if you use sticky back stabilizer, hoop it with the cover film, and then using a sharp edge, score along the inside of the hoop, then lift the cover film off. Seeing you sticking the stabilizer to the back of your hoop made me shudder thinking of the cleanup you'll have to deal with on your hoop. Second, why not use sticky wash away stabilizer so that once you finish the bow design, you simply have to wet the edge to remove the stabilizer and you won't have those "pokies" to deal with.
Yes to both points! For someone who had not used this type of stabilizer before, they'd be stuck at the first step... just getting that stabilizer hooped. We were taught (back in the '90s) to hoop it with the protective cover and then use a pin to score it. And I would do this with wash-away sticky to avoid having to trim near the satin stitching.
While I appreciate the free bow I felt like this video was all over the place at the beginning, not showing when to stitch inner bow colors, not as helpful as it could have been, wish me luck!

Loved the video and thanks for the design!

That's what I was thinking too!
I’m pretty sure there is a wash away sticky back stabilizer available
I was thinking about trying the same thing, but I was gonna spray my shirt with sprayNbond a quilter reposition spray they sell at Walmart

@@designsbyjuju There's not much to show..just a project in a hoop. You can't really see the stabilizer
where did yogurt that adorable sweatshirt? Love the design and tutorial and will join the group.
I’ve never used an adhesive stabilizer. Does it gum up your needle? Do I need a special needle?
Thanks for the very thorough tutorial! What machine are you using?
Beautiful!! where is this fabric from?
I’m totally surprised she doesn’t notice how far off the center the bow is! That would drive me crazy!
What kind of needle did you use?

Where did you gel the black shimmer fabric. Looking for glitter type fabric the one I used all the sequins came off when cutting out the appliqué.
I know Walmart had some precut fabric that had a glitter finish to it. They had a white and pale blue ones this summer at the store where I shop.
Where did the sweatshirt come from?

Just started stitching; mine does not stop like yours did on the first stitch or on the second stitch. It just stitched the entire bow at one time

How cute! ❤ thank you ❤❤❤ Please could I ask if you add any heat and bond to the back of your fabric before you place it on the garment?
I used heat and bond light on the two I’ve done. I am thrilled with the results.
