      l was gonna say. l know that l have the benefit of growing up near NYC, and thus know how to navigate the Subway. But generally speaking, any airport in a major city like New York.London, Paris will have public transport access that is $10 or less to downtown.

    Flew to Porto earlier this year with Tap on an Embraer, never flew on or with either an was thoroughly impressed. They gave so much more legroom than the Boeing or Airbus equivalents, which is great for a tall guy like me. Looks like these Neo's are an upgrade on these 2 2 Embraer's

I love watching the business class reviews, that is exactly where you find out if an airline is a hunk of junk or a class act as 9 times out of 10 class or lack thereof filter downwards to steerage seating...

    I know someone who got almost arrested once in Lisbon because he forgot that he had a knife in his hand luggage, he bought it a few months before in Suisse.
    The 'fun' thing was that this knife was already in his luggage when he departed on another airport (Oostende) to Lisbon and they didn't notice it, and it was just after the attacks in Brussels, you would say safety is high priority, but... (and it wasn't busy at the airport, they got all the time, there was only one plane at that moment).

    TAP has a nice and really great product onboard. The difference between October 2018 and October 2019 is amazing (because of the renewal of their fleet).
    The ground experience lacks a lot, imo. I say this because of Lisbon Airport only. The fact that it is within the city is a nice plus.
    The TAP Premium Lounge is crowded and the fact that it is before immigration is a negative aspect. The ground experience in Madrid with Iberia is better.

    I am planning a trip to Africa this summer (northern hemisphere summer). After seeing this, I'm really tempted to fly TAP to Paris or Amsterdam, spend a day or two in Europe, then fly Kenyan Airways to my primary destination. This would only be $200 or $300 USD more than flying Q-Suites on Qatar, and Europe would have much more comfortable temperatures than Doha!

    While the premium economy seems fine, I'm still struggling to see the value on any airline. I guess if you are really tall it might make sense, but otherwise often you are paying almost half the Business upgrade for a few inches of legroom and little else. You miss out on lounge access, direct aisle access, better food, more luggage, priority boarding and security, a better seat, more crew per passenger, less queueing for the toilet, more miles, and the list goes on.
    Now, I only fly Business when I can get a good deal, so if I had to fly at short notice or at an expensive time, I would fly economy, but not premium. I guess that means that I'm more value conscious than price conscious.
    In the end, you are still in the same metal tube, travelling at the same speed, breathing the same recirculated air, and touching down at exactly the same time as the lucky git sitting in the first class suite.

    I assume you've been to the dreaded Terminal 2 at Lisbon Airport (the one the low cost airlines use). The less said about it the better. Have you thought of applying for the US Global Entry scheme?- you go to the US frequently so it might be worth the cost. Fantastic video by the way!

    Great report, as usual! I really like the points you make and I pretty much always agree with you opinions. Things look like they are picking up for the channel, can't wait to see you hit the 100k mark! :)
    I do have one suggestion, if I may: in my opinion you should try to hold the camera a bit higher up, most of your shooting angles are really low and it makes for an awkward view both of yourself and sometimes of the things you are showing us. I imagine that many times you are probably doing it for privacy reasons and not to disturb other passengers, but I think you should try to make an effort.
    Thanks again for the video, looking forward for the next one and I'm looking forward to fly TAP again, they really have upped their game!

    Both the soft and hard product seemed pretty good and service seemed great however I've gotta say that a major no-no on a TATL flight is not having a lounge. If i'm flying that distance and a carrier doesn't provide a lounge for it's J/ F class/ status pax then tbh i'm just gonna fly with another carrier. When you factor in how much those tickets normally cost then imho it's just not acceptable to not provide a lounge. I can live with it being a contract lounge if need be but to not have one at all just isn't on as far as im concerned.

    • @C2K777
      @C2K777 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just a tip. If you're going to fly PE then i'd always suggest just having a look at J / Business Class at the sametime. Believe it or not it's far from rare for a business seat to be cheaper as the pricing comes from demand in the cabin itself. This applies across ALL airlines and I've bagged a J seat on BA for £800 less than PE before. Plus you get lounge access and fast track with most airlines( as a minimum) which can mean the world of difference on a LH flight. It wont always happen but it happens enough for it to be at least worth a look and you might find that even if not cheaper the price difference is so small it might be worth paying a little more.

    If TAP had any vision would take advante of the fact their hub in Lisbon is a good transit city for passengers from US particularly eastern.

    • @andrewmpachetti
      @andrewmpachetti 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They already do! In the US alone, they fly to Boston, Newark, New York, Washington D.C., Miami, Chicago, and San Francisco! Not to mention their stopover program. It allows you to stay in Lisbon a couple of nights while on your way to any other of its destinations in Europe, Africa, and South America! Your point does not make sense.

    • @DiogoF.
      @DiogoF. 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@andrewmpachetti Sorry, it does. It makes sense they would also fly to Atlanta, Philadelphia, New Orleans, Tampa or Orlando.

      @@DiogoF. Good point on most, as they are international hubs, but why Tampa and New Orleans? I’ve never been to either, but people in Tampa could go to Miami and people in New Orleans could just fly to either Miami or Chicago. Do either have any international flights across the Atlantic or into South America?

      @DiogoF. 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@andrewmpachetti Thanks. I believe both are connected transatlanticly. New Orleans in particular is more of a personal favorite but I think there's potential since it is a historically imponent city in southeastern U.S. on the Gulf of Mexico.

    I normally enjoy your videos but unfortunately, I can't trust a review of an airline that not only knew you were coming but invited you knowing that you would be filming. Of COURSE the service was good. They made damned sure of it.

    • @noelphilips
      @noelphilips  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Agreed, the service was excellent but I know they will have been putting it on a bit, so I tried not to show much of that in the video compared to the rest of the experience, to ensure it was as balanced as possible. It was far from a perfect experience, the lack of lounge in NYC was my biggest issue, but I tried as much as possible to ensure things like that were still shown.
