Heather Headley, Broadway's original 'Aida' in the Elton John and Tim Rice production by that name, performs "Easy as Life." Produced by Disney Theatrical Productions.
Heather Headley is such a powerful singer, not only for the role of Aida, but also she played Nala in the original Broadway cast of THE LION KING! THE LION KING was actually her Broadway debut. When Heather sang 'Shadowland' on the cast recording and the Late Night David Letterman Show, her singing and the emotion put into it was flawless! Same thing for this! WOW! HEATHER HEADLEY IS AMAZING!!!
People have noted that in the movie, JEJ and Jeremy Irons sounded somewhat like actual lions in their vocal performances. I say in the Broadway performance, Sam Wright (Mufasa), Jason Raize (Simba) and Heather (Nala) sounded very much like lions in their vocal performances.
whew. i saw this on Broadway amd was really moved by her performance. Seeing this again after all these years i am still moved by her amazing performance
Oh my god. DisneyBroadway, you just MADE MY NIGHT. Heather is fantastic in this. Her anguish totally comes out in this song and makes her portrayal believeable. Beautiful. If there are any more clips, post them, please! Thank you for putting these up.
I know. It makes me mad that some of the best OBCs will never be captured on screen......Idina in Wicked (unless she does the movie), Lea Michele in Spring Awakening, Heather in Aida.......what is WRONG with the world????
This play was mentioned by Charles Nelson Riley January 1, 1976, on the Tonight Show. I resolve to see a Broadway play this year and not become jealous of the skills of the performers, writers, choreographers, composers, and scripting. I will, if God allows it, see a Broadway play And I will clap my hands at the end and leave the theatre with a new perspective to ponder. I believe this resolution is feasible and worthy of diligence. HNY!
There was talks of Beyonce being in the role...I can't imagine her in it...it would be awful. As Patti Lupone said about Madonna, "Dead behind the eyes." lol
She is a fantastic artist, no question. Just imagine if she got that voice out of her throat, her tongue to the front of her mouth and learned how to properly support her voice on the breath instead of with her neck and throat muscles. She'd blow people away even more!
Heather is absolutely lovely as AIDA. I personally think Felicia Boswell did a spectacular job with this song! I think she got Heather! watch her rendition "Felicia Boswell as Aida"!!
Heather is amazing, thank God by the time the show made it to Broadway they got rid of those 4 scraggly braids that conseal the mic wire and gave her an ear mounted mic and axed the braids
i have heard rumours that lea wll be in the SA movie as wendla, but she would be almost thirty playing a 14 year old. but some casting they do for the movie adaptations (ie J-Hud in Dreamgirls or CZJ in Chcago) are amazing) biut i have heard rumours that Beyonce and Xtna for Aida, i would block that movie. i do like the cast for Les Mis minus russell crowe, (but ideally Lea Salonga for Eponine or Fantine would be a dream)
@eurogirl100 ... hmm i think they are perfect. you could just take stills and tell the story without hearing the song. you can see the pain and ever other emotion in her eyes.
I heard someone will try to do the movie version, Praying its true but who will they cast as AIda it better be Heather, if Not who give me some opinions who you think will kill this role,
Her voice is AMAZING...But her facials are a bit scary. I know that you sometimes have to put on facials in the theatre to get your emotions across to the back audience, but hers are crazy!
