- I had been trying to get Ben to start a TH-cam channel for a long time, because I think he has the perfect business to create a TH-cam channel bigger than mine, but he kept procrastinating and putting it off. Then one day I got some fan mail for Ben, before I had ever gotten any fan mail for me. I used that as an example of just how much Ben needed to start a TH-cam channel, and eventually he did. The only problem was that I forgot to ever bring him is fanmail... So today I finally made it a point to get it to him. Go check out Ben's video of the story behind that incredible BROWN Scout here!

When I worked as a Mac Tools tool guy, I recommended that the young mechanics start with a good Mid-Range Box and a big set of Craftsman Tools, then they could buy the specialty tools as needed and buy better basic tools as their budget could afford them.
Unlike drug dealers, I didn't want to enable the Tool Habit of young mechanics beyond what they could afford.
One of my early and favorite specialty tools was the cooling system checker.
Still have mine I bought in the 80's

That IH logo first appeared with the R series trucks in the 1952 model year.
after hitting my head a few times under a car, the first thing I do now is turn my hat around so the peak is not over my eyes. That way you don’t have to crank ya head up to high and you also see clearer, and not banging ya head on stuff.
Doesnt matter if in a cave/tunnel or under a car. Turn the hat around.
I use weather strip cement and glue the gasket to whatever I am installing. Use the bolts to keep the gasket aligned. Never chase another gasket.

Everytime we go to Ben's place I get caught up in the nostalgia of growing up with a Travelall. However, when I start to think that maybe I should one for a project, I remember what combersome beasts they are to actually drive...no thanks. Lol, it's still fun to visit Ben just the same.

406 garage is amazing place I've always had a soft spot for international harvester vehicles. Except miniature scout twos that look like they are trying to make something that was made in Japan and we're not that reliable.

I love tool trucks, Snap-on in particular. I don't know if genetic or a virus I caught from my Dad.
and the new gasket will continue to leak until you put a cast alum pan in that car.
FWIW, you never really want to use RTV on automatic transmissions (not even the pan) but also on carburetors (aside from the baseplate but only if you really have to use it). RTV can break off in little chunks due to heat degradation and clog the hydraulic circuits of the transmission; and gasoline is a solvent of RTV which can also break off in little particles clogging jets and air bleeds in the carb. If you absolutely have to reuse air horn and other carb gaskets that are not broken, instead of using RTV soak them in WD-40 (or mineral oil, which is the same thing). It restores some of the crush-ability of carb gaskets.
That is the wrong pan for the transmission or the wrong transmission for the pan, your choice.
So your secret is out! You stage all those rescues to become the billionaire youtube super star celebrity that you are!

Did you know that International Harvester is making a comeback, sort of, in 2026?Or at least its grandchildren will. Volkswagen is expected to launch a new electric pickup trunk in the US in 2026 under the new brand name of "Scout". And since Volkswagen is the parent company of Traton which is the parent company of Navistar International which is the former International Harvester, Scout is basically a new IH :-)
