    @Taniseth There are over 700 bell islanders that take the boat everyday and go to work in St.johns and approx. 300 hundred more that work on the island. It is a good place to live, its quiet and laid back.

    Pretty wicked storm! You sure don't see stuff like that here in Michigan, that's for sure. At least you and yours are ok, that's always the best thing you can have :)

    . I personally think that the ferry system is no different than the Trans Canada Highway. Bell Islanders pay taxes just like everybody else. For most it is where they were born.If you worked in St. Johns but you lived in another part of NFLD. and you had to commute but you were told that you have to pay how would you feel. Bell Islanders have to pay everyday to commute to their jobs in St. Johns. Every newfoundlander is proud of where they live and Bell Islanders are proudest of all.

    @dashizal1 Remember...........we don't see extreme weather like this, obviously there are worse storms in other parts of the world. It is a big deal to us because we're not used to seeing this. Just like Nevada would freak if they got 20 inches of snow and 12 degree F temperatures, they just wouldn't be used to seeing it. It is all relative.

    @dudefromtherock There are over 700 bell islanders that take the boat everyday and go to work in St.johns and approx. 300 hundred more that work on the island and in the summer alot of money is generated by tourists. The past is what made the future so you cannot say forget about the past because without the past the is no future for anybody.

    @jackadam01 was it hurricane? I thought the experts say it was just a tropicial storm? The experts better get their act together, was it a storm or hurricane?

  • @TheUnforgiven2012
    @TheUnforgiven2012 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    This was the storm of the century in Newfoundland and maybe the worse storm in its history. But i think you'll see storms like this every few years in Newfoundland from now on. And they'll only get worse.

    @XXPurecountryXX My Grandfather worked the mines for years but guess what? That's the past. Maintaining a ferry system for that hunk of rock is costing taxpayers millions. People need to move off or stop complaining.

    @lordsyprus yeah be more exiciting if people were whipped up in the hurricane and see cows flying around like the movie "Twister"! Boring but safe, people weren't killed, only property damage which can be replaced & repaired, lost of a human life is permanent.
