No light, no light live is an experience, she extends that note to at least 14 seconds, the max was 27. I hope I'll be able to witness it in person one day.
"I want my music to sound like throwing yourself out of a tree or a building, or as if you're being sucked down into the ocean and you can breathe. It's something overwhelming and all-encompassing that fills you up, and you're either going to explode with It or you're Just going to disappear "
The Florence + the Machine fandom is very low drama and not aggressive. We're all flower crowns and hair-braiding. It's like a cult without intense mental trauma and brainwashing. and it's funny you mentioned Aurora because Florence is undeniably an inspiration to Aurora. ( I mean she wants to deny it now, it's really weird. I think she is trying to break away from being compared to other female artists which I get but it's kind of coming off as an insult to them now. ) But yeah she has worn the same dresses Florence has, done similar choreography and we know she listens to her. They definitely have a big and little sister feeling in their music. Also it's funny you mentioned the water thing because during her third album they gave her a bottle of water with a Post-It saying " Water for drinking, not for writing about. " Also it feels weird because her albums feel kind of elemental. Lungs being airy, Ceremonials being watery, HBHBHB oddly being Earthy until her last album which oddly just feels like " Simplicity and light " And you mentioned her extending that bit in " No Light No Light " ? Well she holds it extra long in almost every live performance.
@@yasiryasar9742 She like . . . likes stuff that is like saying how different they are and that she has never said in an interview that she was inspired by Florence, etc. That what they do is nothing similar, etc. But she literally replied to my comment when Runaway was still new-ish before Katy Perry shared her song . . . and I said something about her probably not seeing it and I didn't care if it was a message in a bottle situation but that I thought she was amazing and that she and Florence had been practically all I'd been listening to for the past however long while I draw and stuff. and she said it was a huge compliment ( which it is ) and that Florence is very inspiring to her and she's glad to be a part of other people's creative journey too.
AAhh thank you so much , omg it was a nightmare haha I had to listen to the faint sound coming form my headphones and also just rely on my singing hahaha !!
I'm always impressed the way Florence can belt and achieve all those crazy things with her voice, but for some reason I just love when she restrains it a bit if that makes sense. That's why How Big How Blue How beautiful is my fav album of the band. not to mention the production is amazing too 😅
i'm so happy you enjoyed this one so much more than lungs! I remember listening to strangeness and charm for the first time just as i was studying physics at school, it was so surreal... probably my favorite song on this album and one of my favorite songs ever!! and what the water gave me... wow, there is a live version she did for a radio station i don't remember now that is outstanding. I can't wait to see your reaction to HBHBHB because it's quite different and much more... grounded?? PS: the fact that you took your time to add all the music again... props to you because i wouldn't have noticed if you didn't mention it at the beginning
Awww I was so pleased too . That’s awesome !! I really liked strangeness and charm ! Also that’s so sweet of you to acknowledge. So glad it all turned out ok !
OH MY GOD I am so excited for this Florence series (reacting to all her albums) that I stayed shaking in excitement, I'm so thrilled and vibrating with excitement that you're going to react to her albums (if you are) 😭
I love this album but How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful is life changing and no one is ready to listen to it for the first time. It really takes your soul and travels you outside of yourself and where you are to take you somewhere entirely different. This is her being young, wild, and out of control, in interviews she talks about how she was an alcoholic and genuinely out of control. And High As Hope you can definitely tell she's gotten older and learned a lot of new, wise lessons and it's slower, gentler, and she reminisces on old memories and relationships of all kinds and the lessons she's learned from them snd how being older is different than she thought. She's not old but you can very much tell she's older and she knows it. It's ridiculously beautiful and almost feels like that passing time between winter and spring in the country side of where she grew up in the UK. How Big, Blue, Beautiful is amazing in the out of body, almost fantasy way, and High As Hope is amazing in the very much grounded, reflecting, reminiscing, older, still healing but more calmly and gently than before in the countryside with friends and family kind of way. All her albums are reflections of how old she is without meaning to be. Florence is my favorite person, alongside Aurora. Ethereal and yet unbearably human. She's perfection in the way she's very much flawed and isn't shy about it. I love her more than any other human in my life LOL 💙
I was about twelve when I first discovered Florence, and this happened to be the first of her albums that I listened to in full. I can still remember exactly what I was doing the first time I heard it… Ceremonials is definitely her most grandiose album, hands down, but after hearing her entire catalogue and the maturity/growth she achieves on her third and fourth albums, this one just retains this unique charm. I remember when her next album HBHBHB released, and it was like everything just fell into place! In my opinion, she truly found her refined sound on her third release. Very curious to see your reaction! Thanks ☺️
What the water gave me live is CRAZY. The energy is like...i can't describe but her live performances and the way she engages with the crowd is something to behold.
Kudos for that stellar Kate Bush impression!! Also, for context, "Breath of life" was written for the "Snow-white and the huntsman" movie from 2012 - that´s why it´s more "movie-epic" than the rest haha. It was the first song of hers I heard, been a fan ever since :)
I feel like the production on these first two albums hides her voice, which is one of Florence greatest strengths, too much. These songs are much better live in my opinion. You should check her perfomance on royal albert hall, but her sound gets more refined with each album
I'm so so happy you liked this one more. I had a feeling this would be more your vibe than 'Lungs'. Can't wait for your reaction to "How Big How Blue How Beautiful", it's my favorite one from her.
The step up in quality from their debut to Ceremonials was insane. It's not flawless, but it was the perfect foundation for the band to build on top of with future releases. Florence utilizes her voice even better and the production on the albums get cleaner and more refined. Can't wait!
I love seeing these reactions to full albums! Now you should hear "How big, how blue how beautiful". For me, Florence is an artist who has been improving album after album and it is really interesting how all that process was recorded. ♥
Your reaction to What The Water Gave Me had me DEAD cause I relate so much lol And just a fanboy moment, but the little input in your style singing No Light No Light at 51:12 would end up in an AMAZING cover! Just sayin... As always, looooove your reactions and thoughts
Loved your reaction! Other outstanding indie albums with a similar vibe and female vocailsts are: Wye Oak - Civilian Beach House - Depression Cherry London Grammar - Californian Soil You should react to ALL of them LOL
I watch many of your reaction videos. Me too at first, doesn't feel kinda fit with her music. The best way to describe her music is picturing yourself, in a college. There's a girl who you dont interested in to hang out with. But later on, after a few chat or doing some college project together, you suddenly feel like "hmmmm, she's cool and okay, we should hang out together often". Like meeting an introvert person. You just dont feel the urge to talk to that person. Suddenly you starts to know more, conversation by conversation, suddenly you know that the person is quite cool and okay to hang out with. And suddenly the world just feel okay.
But girl, you’re 10 years later. Even though, this album never gets old. I can dance with Leave my body like it was the first time, everytime. Ageless.
Also second post if you even care lmao. " All This and Heaven Too " and " Heartlines " are two songs she pretty much doesn't perform outside of like . .. you wouldn't even need all the fingers on your hand to count the times for either of them. She literally said in an interview there is 1 song on Lungs she kind of regrets and 2 that she feels like shouldn't be there on Ceremonials so she just doesn't perform them often. ( And about how she is very lucky because beyond that she has had to sacrifice nothing musically and they outside of that have allowed her a lot of freedom. ) " All This and Heaven Too " she wrote with Isa and I don't think was complete to her and I don't think she saw it for this album if she published it at all. I think they talked her into this song being on THIS album and putting it out there as some LIGHT amongst the darkness of her album. and " Breath of Life " is for a movie. " Snow White and the Huntsman " Anyway glad you've been converted to a Florence stan. ☺
@@justaslimsa3258 Well she doesn't list them because she doesn't want to hurt anyone's feelings if it's their favorite song, so on. But she said she just performs them way-way less or never and that she feels a smidge cheesey with them. Ironically I think it's Hurricane Drunk. She never performed it live too much if at all that I can remember and it's the only song I can say that for. While I'd say the weakest song is Kiss With A Fist she has a positive memory and vibe for that one as it's a nod to her time in a Greenday coverband and loving punk music.
love your reaction, and yeah those 3 songs was my least fav too from this album, others are perfect!! No Light No Light is my most fav for them and the reason i became big fan of this band ❤️
And in "No Light, No Light" she holds that exact long note singing it live, even longer.
What The Water Gave Me is such an underrated song and I'm always happy when it's given its flowers.
one of my absolute favourites
When you listen to Seven Devils, you're not listening to Florence singing. You're listening to Florence casting a spell :)
No light, no light live is an experience, she extends that note to at least 14 seconds, the max was 27. I hope I'll be able to witness it in person one day.

How Big, How Blue How Beautiful is such an amazing album from them, as well as High as Hope

Florence's lyrics are sooo good, glad you loved them as much as I do.
this album is so heavy, I was so depressive when I listened to it, but the lyrics helped me get over it. I am very grateful to Florence for this gift
