Actually discovered this in 2014 because a friend of mine told me about this masterpiece and felt in love with it, immediately. If i knew there was a campaign i would have funded it immediately. Nowdays it's pretty much impossible to find and it costs 500-1500 US dollars.
For those of you who haven't listened to the album, all I can say is; prepare yourselves. I don't think the world is ready for such a beautiful album. Well done John & friends for delivering such a unique piece of art.
+Trap and Bass Iam preparing Trap iam defenetly preparing. I ve heard that Tipper said it was the finest album he listened in 10 freking years!!! Do u know how Culprate are or is ( John ), where are they from?
I've never been a fan of electronic music, almost all of my favorite albums were created by artists who'd either died or disbanded before I even existed, like Jeff Buckley, Bob Marley or Jimmy Hendrix. My first real taste of electronic music was when I was 17, floating around filthy dubstep mini-raves half mad on K. I truly thought, especially now with the music industries ceaseless addiction to cash and its blatant promotion of stupidity, that I'd never listen to an album in my lifetime that would make me feel the way this one does. Its not a simple emotion like happiness or sadness, its like nostalgia, that bitter-sweet, complex feeling that washes over you when you return to an old place from your past that has moved on, or when the smell of tomatoes reminds you of a dead friend. Thank you Culprate.
Lyrics 1:36 Speak without sound and dream in hushed whisper Bite your tongue, counting time Touch of our skin brings trembles and shiver Wrapped in love, brought to life Tortured and young and starved to the bone Sink like a stone, sink like a stone Bounded by love and will to survive We’ve made a new life A stable new world
The hidden "DMT" in the artwork is really cool. D on the left then center M and T, leading towards absolution at the end and with these kinda bug obstacles that are really just Mind or Soul unsure of its own reality (absolution) out front. Really dope.
I discovered this song a few months ago and could almost instantly tell I had found something special. What a beautiful and complex composition. I've not heard anything quite like it.
this album and number 4 are so far off the rails man. you stand as one of the most unique and talented electronic producers out there right now. PLEASE do more of this style, this sort of somber surreal prog.
This is still be my favourite one, it's like that piece of art that most of the people don't know apreciate, cause this is it, a piece of art, beautiful work, all the chords, the tones, melody and the effects, they fit perfectly, I love your work guys, never stop.
is that a suggestion or is that koda singing?! o: btw. you should make another song with koda, i LOVED it! and i also would love to see a asa x koda collab, but no idea if they know each other :d
First time I've heard this album I was like ''Culprate? The f*ck are you doing? Where's your Glitch Hop stuff?''. But then I gave another try and fell inlove with this stuff, especially ''Whispers Part 1'' and ''Within''. Played them like 100 times already.
This is an amazing piece of music and a timeless album! I'll be listening to it my whole life and discovered it yesterday ... some albums you just know ...
Thank you so much for making this song! It's this peculiar type of track that you don't tend to really appreciate when you first hear it (albeit you can easily notice the great attention to details) and start to truely like after listening to it several times. I'm currently in this mood, and what a pleasure it is to know this masterpiece. Whispers goes through so many different phases, venturing from a cheerful and dynamic start with a glad humming singer (Koda's hums I assume) to a very bittersweet nostalgic and melancholic sax part ; not to mention the impressive so-called 'rain' part (3:00) which genuinely gives me the tremble and shiver pictured in the lyrics, with a fair bit of mere nostalgia. The spectrum of emotions this song displays in myself is astonishing, awe inspiring. Although I truely like your other dubstep (or whatsoever) tracks, I can state doubtlessly that this song is by far the best you've ever made... Thanks again! Hope this song will get some more recognition in the not-too-distant future Edit: stepping into this comment I l left 9 years ago, damn this song never ages
In its previous episode (album "Colours", cause this one is described as its suite), the very end of last track had a Pink Floyd'ish sequence, even King Crimson'ish, and since it was like the last moments of the album, this one perfeclty starts with the same spirit/ambiance... It's a perfect suite, the loop is done.
My love sent this to me when he was dying of cancer. His exact words were, "I'm happy that you will get what you want and I'll get pain." And then he sent the link to this song. I left to go out-of country and came back to hear he was gone.
I think I'll always remember this one. Been trying to get theneedledrop to review this album to at least grab it a little more exposure, and have been eyeing pitchfork for reviews, but there have been none so far. Really surprised that there hasn't been more hype for this - is it too controversial to say that this is underrated?
this album is perfect for focus and relax at the same time... help me a lot working efficiently :) except for these two whispers tracks which are way to beautiful to let me focus on my work this is impressive how emotional these songs can make you feel
This is an extremely farsighted and flimsy analogy, but personally I think of Culprate's music as akin to a person living a double life; the lively and gregarious extrovert you see in public is represented by the energy, abrasiveness and club-oriented nature of his neuro tracks, while his more subdued IDM work like this and Heartbeat represent the more reclusive, reserved and private side of this hypothetical "person". Feel free to see that as you wish, or just call me high after listening to Asa's Heartbeats EP for the first time. I still think I can get behind the idea but I can totally understand if you find it fucking crazy :)
i remembered this song in the back of my head years after i last listened to this album, took me about 3 minutes to figure out it was you guys. you really stuck to me :)
Proud of being a funder, one of my favorite album. Ever.

Production level not human
culprate is no human
I totally agree : )
Can't imagine another piece that brings feeling of an acid trip such accuratly
For those of you who haven't listened to the album, all I can say is; prepare yourselves. I don't think the world is ready for such a beautiful album. Well done John & friends for delivering such a unique piece of art.
listening to this album will be like walking with a hardon b/w the street but no one watching you.. #justguessing

Well said thank you for sharing.
uh what >or when the smell of tomatoes reminds you of a dead friend
There is a word for that feeling, hiraeth, and that's exactly how I feel about this song tooooooo
Lyrics 1:36
Speak without sound and dream in hushed whisper

I think it is We ve made a new life and for sometime I thought it was blinded by love but I think bounded is right.

Got this on vinyl. The artwork is so great, but the music... Got to listen to it at least twice a year...
I don't know much about music production, but this song hit me as insanely well composed
+Autochrome
It is. VERY well composed.
The entire album is.
made in ableton live if I'm not mistaken?
the level of production in this album is absolutely second to none. Culprate is truly a modern genius
This song is a trip already, it is something even further on 3 tabs. Absolutely beautiful
THIS ALBUM FLOWS
SO
WELL
PLAYING IT FROM ONE END TO THE OTHER SEEMS LIKE ONE BIG STORY
This song is a MASTERPIECE. One of the few songs I consider a true 10/10
Yup!
damn this sounds like your poured your soul into this one
Man that perfectly describes what I feel about this! This is the most accurate comment in the whole comment section
0:34 - so Pink Floyd :D
I tought same :D
This is my favorite opening to any album hands down
Culprate is so diverse, yet pulls of every genre with perfection. Definition of talent!
I've waited too long to listen to this album. Just now listening to Whispers Pt. 1 and already in love.

like others stated...this track is a gem. the album is awesome as a whole but this one track is magical.
Such an incredible album, this is my ultimate favourite. 11/10 would recommend to everyone on the planet
You will forever be my inspiration in sound design. Thank you for opening my eyes to what is possible in this endless world of music.
Brody Zimmerman have you made anything?
Culprate and Koda

oelchbouk definitely Koda vocals
FeLiX13sLaVe yeah right, but i was confused because he isn't mentioned in the title... like (feat, Koda) or something^^
oelchbouk from bandcamp. throughout the album:
Vocals - Koda, Jaggi Suta Das, Emma Wilson and Govinda Priya
oh so it is Koda was wondering!! Koda is life!!!
whenever i come back to this song, tears of joy and sadness fill me whole
How is that even possible
this song is what a really good trip sounds like

it's like I discovered some kind of ancient masterpiece. Damn this is artistic.
Timeless song in 2023. Can't wait to revisit this comment 40 years from now.
All the small details make me come back everytime for the same reason: it never gets boring to listen to such a masterpiece
It is very rare when a song makes me cry the first time I hear it, and I can't stop replaying it. Well done man.
I hope that future culprate albums have songs like this.
roteir you are right! Unity EPs are so dope

Amazing. This is like Pink Floyd + Amon Tobin, but not in a copying kinda way.
Totally agree.

Really enjoyed the latest edition! Superb stuff!
Grimble Grumble me too, I prefer the last edition than the older. Really good remembering this LP
This exists only because someone doesn't accept such dull statements
this is the best album artwork ive ever seen

Not at all. In my opinion it was the best album of 2014. It`s an understatement to say its underrated.
This deserves all the exposure one can give.
Culprate is an amazing producer w/such a dope array of styles.. Great, great track..
